- Our understanding of how people learn is changing as rapidly as the field of medicine itself. How is Harvard Medical School leading the way? Edward Hundert and David Roberts will discuss the innovative teaching methods being introduced to support new ways of learning at HMS-and beyond.
I love that! “Teach our students as if we’re teaching our own Doctors!” So insightful.
9:40 The goal of Medical Education is not to learn medicine. It is to learn *how to learn* medicine *for a lifetime.*
...We should welcome students by telling them, look, about half of what we teach you is going to turn out to be wrong or at least irrelevant by the time you retire form practice. The trouble is, we don't know which half.
18:25 Education - Medical Education - is not about the transmission of information. It is about the the *transformation of learners.* ...The interesting thing about a transformative environment is that it transforms everybody in it.
19:35 What makes a great (clinical) educator?....Three things: think out loud; stick to the basics and be kind.
20:40 Raise your daughter as if you might be raising your own mother... How should we teach our students? We should teach our students as if we might be teaching our own doctor.
I joined HMX and just finished a course, its a very powerful way of modern learning in medical knowledge, really an amazing tool developed for online learning students from all over the world. I really enjoyed!
Am I to understand that some of this content is available to everyone "around the globe"? Do you have to be enrolled or can you access to it regardless?
I love to see the direction HMS began taking the college experience.
Is there someone available to answer questions about these learning modules?
Thoughtful a joy to listen to
the speakers bring up a lot of good points. Interesting and at times a little humorous.
Teaching what junior High school students already know. At HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL! Such as at 36:02. Pretty basic for college level physiology. Yes the online content is well done, as many videos that have been done before.
No disrespect intended. Just saying that its really basic information for the level of students that have earned entry into Harvard.
That's the tip of iceberg, greater details are needed and delivered/ learnt in future lessons , specialization
Yeah it is mostly a complicated version of my A&P class. Just listening to it, it sounded like an ad for HMS. It seems to have strayed from the larger focus of patient care. Thats my main focus and it is nailed in our heads in highschool. I've noticed that the most beneficial videos to watch are the ones from retired doctors with no financial affiliations to any medical prescription company or college.
EXCELLENT AND INFORMATIVE ,THANK YOU.
Guys you are far ahead of what we are doing here in Africa
What do you do there?
Indeed! We have to take medicine personally!
