    Very beautiful. I am SO glad you get $1.00 a piece for your magnets. I tried to sell them for $1.00 and I only sold 15 out of 150.
    When I started selling them for 2 for $1.00 I sold more...but I really sold alot when I packaged them in pkgs of 6 for $5.00. I sold over 50 pkgs and I promoted them as teacher and friendship gifts. I guess you can never tell! The basket idea is a great one! Great tutorial!

    You need to make sure you glue the none grab side of the magnet. I use a safety pen to check the magnet.

    Clear non yellowing nail polish works well, and Less mess, and I think they seal better, put liberally on back of gem and sit on design and let dry.

      What an awesome idea with the maps!
      I was literally garage sale-ing this past weekend and scored a brand new 16 oz pkg of those clear gems for $.25 cents and a lady gave me a mega stack of Michigan state and county maps for free.
      I was going to toss the bulk of the maps (which I hated to do), but don't have to now.
      Perfect for my new geocaching hobby (modern digital app assisted treasure hunt) and making custom swag to trade.

So, I went to Dollar Tree and bought 2 bags of the stones (so happy that I didn't buy more) and out of the two bags, I got 13 magnets. 23 of the stones were broken or shattered and were unusable. I live in a somewhat rural area and don't have a Michaels here, so not sure what to do now. I am making ceramic coasters and wanted to make the magnet sets to match, Not too sure what to do now.

    Karen this is one I'm going to try at my craft fair booth. I've never made magnets before. Also what about paper weights? Could you do the same principle? TFS jen in south Dakota.

    I would like to make these magnets but can’t find the 1 1/4” circle punch. Is it a retire punch ?

      Hi Lori. Yes, the 1 1/4 inch circle punch has retired. However, you may wish to try the 1" circle punch, Item #119868 or the 1 1/8" scallop circle punch, Item #146138. let me know if you give it a try

      Yes they are, however they sell various sizes at my local store. You need to find the ones that are large. These are 1" in diameter. They sell 1/2" as well.

    I make these but when the glue dries you can tell and see it through the glass. I have tried different glues and I still see where some of the glue distorts the image a little. Not sure how to explain it. Do you ever have that issue? Maybe I’m too picky.

    • @karenmcnall
      @karenmcnall  5 років тому +1

      Hi Nancy. I haven't had that issue. I wonder if you are putting too much Mod Podge on?

    • @michelerichter4
      @michelerichter4 5 років тому +1

      I was just thinking the same thing - too much mod podge, you just need enough to swipe the back of the glass stone, doesn't take much at all... in fact I think the sponge sucks up most of the modpodge when I use it.

    • @nancymarkham2924
      @nancymarkham2924 5 років тому

      Karen McNall thank you. I barely use that much. I have tried different brushes and no luck. I still can see where the glue dried. I try and get all the air bubbles out so maybe I just need to stop being so picky.

    • @karenmcnall
      @karenmcnall  5 років тому +1

      @@nancymarkham2924 I wonder if its the type of paper you are using? The weight; too thin? Too thick?

    • @karenmcnall

      I think the lighter designs on paper don't work as well and that's the only time I have had issues.

    These have been popping up a lot in my reccomendations. LOL Think it and youtube will suggest it. They are cute and look super easy to make. I dont think they would sell well in my area for $1 a piece ..2/$1 would go over well but i would still prepack them up. I would be more worried about them growing legs and wandering off. I have had ppl steal thiings from a yard sale .. weird bigger things like pots and pans or the super cheap quarter junk. . These are too easy to slip into a pocket or for kids to just pick up and walk off with (kids are never really the theives...its the adults ) ...Rather take time to package like ones in maybe groups of 4 to 6 and chances are they may sell better since there might be those one or two in each pack they want...If someone asks nicely i would switch them out if not busy. Extra plus..no need to take time to wrap them so they dont break. just hand them to them prebagged.

    • @karenmcnall
      @karenmcnall  2 роки тому +1

      Markets are always different. Mine sell very well, especially 6 for $5. I like to allow people to select the ones they want. I've never had an issue with theft. The magnets are about two feet from me so I keep a close eye on them. Sorry you have had issues with theft. People need should be kind and trustworthy.
