Today I’m bringing you Episode 9 in my Craft Fair 2019 Series. I love how these Mini-Composition Notebooks came together. They make great gifts and are a wonderful seller for me at my craft fairs. I used a lot of retired Designer Series Paper. I love the quality, designs, and versatility of our paper.

Thanks for the great tutorial! I've covered many composition books, but I've never seen a method quite like this that looks so finished on the edges and inside. I love how you wrap the paper to the inside without making it a tedious process. (I can't stand it when my paper goes on slightly crooked and you can see the cover peeking through a tiny bit.) I'm definitely going to be trying out your method.

Hello, really enjoy your videos. Would like to take my crafts to area craft fairs. Any suggestions on how to get started would be appreciated.
Leslee Dixon I just kept a look out in my area, on Facebook, and local churches have them once a year and friends kept me informed.
I’ve not signed up for any yet but I simply googled “craft fairs and my town name” and so many listings came up! From the local church or high school band benefit to the larger community fall fest types. I’m going to work on building up an inventory and give it a try next spring. Good luck!

Great project! Who doesn’t like a pretty notebook? Any ideas for making masculine covers as well? I always find it hard as most papers are feminine.
I tend to make for feminine projects because that’s my customer. Not many men attend craft fairs. Try to find rustic papers or wood grain works well too.
Thanks! I sometimes get women looking for gifts for the men in their lives...I feel it’s an untapped market! Wood grain is good, and plaid. I guess it’s just so limited compared to the range of options we have for making pretty, feminine products!
Love these little books. I like the way you put on the paper on the book. It seems a lot easier to me then others I have seen. How much do you charge for these? They are really nice.

I adore these mini composition notepads. You do beautiful work including packaging. I don't see the mini pens in your description box. Do they all have black ink?

the ink color varies by pen; welcome to my channel.
What do you use for a price? Add supply cost or by item? Like the no topper because adds cost. Doing my first this year.
I take all my supplies and double the price and then see how it fits into other items I am selling and adjust accordingly

Just wondering when was the last time you bought these notebooks. My Walmarts discontinued them months ago. They clearanced them out. I got a bunch then. I hope they bring them back. I love your craft videos. Such cute ideas.
I’ve never had a problem finding them and purchased about 3 weeks ago
I bought mine on Amazon. 24 in a pack for $15 or so. Just like the big ones with the marbled front.

Hmm... for the spine pieces you say 3 1/4 x 4 1/2?? They are clearly smaller than 3 1/4.??? Correct dimension please, Thank you for sharing. Very good tutorial.

oh boy! The spine is 3/4" x 4 1/2. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for asking so I could clarify.
I have a question maybe you or someone can answer. I am new to crafting and this may seem like a dumb question but it looks like you use a 2" circle punch and then the starburst punch to make your sentiment on the front. I cannot find a size listed for the starburst punch. Is it also a 2"? I do not have any punches except for a 1" and a 1 1/2" circle punch and want to purchase some more and I was wondering what sizes would be good to have for layering to make journals like this. Thank you for your suggestions.
Hi Patricia. The Starburst punch measures 2 1/8" so it gives a nice border around the 2" circle. Other punches I recommend would be Starburst 1 3/8" , 1 1/8. Circle punches include 2 1/4, 2, 1 1/2, 1 1/2. I also really like to use the Everyday Label, Tailored Tag, Pretty Label. All are great punches, super easy to use, and also super quick. Why the extra strips in the inside by the spine?
Great question. it's because the inside area has more width and leaves about 1/2 inch uncovered. Some crafters cover it; some don't. i like to cover the area.

Dollar Tree is where I found them, however, I have not seen them in a while. Party City is another location and also Walmart in their holiday aisle. Got a bunch during Valentine's

Sometimes I don't like the decision making that comes with double sided paper, lol
yes, it can be a little difficult. Just make two and you would be all set!
