Three Rivers Bike Ride, North East England - and the Pedestrian / Cycle Tyne Tunnel

- My bike ride around North East England. I cycled 74 miles from Durham, to the coast and up to Sunderland, to South Shields, through the Pedestrian/Cycle tunnel under the River Tyne, to Newcastle, Blaydon, Consett, Lanchester and back to Durham.
I crossed 2 of the 3 big rivers (twice), the River Wear and the River Tyne. The third big river on the map, the River Tees, is much further south. So I actually did the 'Two Rivers' bike ride, but used the Three Rivers Cycle Route map!
I set off at 12.30pm, stopping quite a few times to sight-see, chat to people, plus eat and drink. I also stopped to mend a puncture and arrived home at 9.30pm. The hardest bit was cycling from Blaydon (on the River Tyne) up to Consett. It's steady up hill for about 20 miles, so I found it tough to keep up a decent pace. The easiest bit was the last leg, coming home from Consett to Durham, mostly down hill!
Thanks for watching and have fun!
Thanks for the video; what an amazing tunnel, although I kept watching for a crack in the wall.
Thanks. That tunnel is amazing. The Victorian engineers were brilliant. I doubt anyone would build that cycle tunnel nowadays. Sorry for bit of a late response! I'm back on UA-cam, with only occasional postings at moment, under my renamed channel. I'm mainly doing cycling stuff at moment.
that was brilliant, thanks for sharing that. I live near four lane ends so it might be longer for me but will put that on my list of bike rides to do.

Looked like a enjoyable Journey. :-)
It was a fabulous cycle ride thanks. I'm doing even longer distances nowadays. Sorry for bit of a late response! I'm back on UA-cam, with only occasional postings at moment, under my renamed channel. I'm mainly doing cycling stuff at moment.
Very nice. Thanks much.

@amy2x
I really enjoy rides like this. I've just arrived back from one today. 57 miles. The views are fabulous, if you ever come to the UK, then I recommend visiting, County Durham, The Lake District, Northumberland, and most of Scotland. North Wales is fabulous too.
very good !

Great Job Stuart! But I have to say that while you were in the tunnel, I felt a little claustrophobic! I would love to travel, and I feel I just did! Keep more videos coming, my daughter LOVES the "Beatles" ok she is crazy about the Beatles, are you close Abby Road? Blessings!
Thanks! Apologies for my rather late response! Yes, I'm back on UA-cam after a 12 year absence, with renamed channel (was eatmoreraw). I will focus on cycling, other adventures, getting fitter, health and general feel good stuff.
@MrsLeafygreens
Thanks! The Beatles' Abbey Road is over the other side of the country in Liverpool. I'm on the North East side, in Durham near Newcastle.
stuart, you should have gone down the escalators - there made of wood - I genuinely love that tunnel, it feels like it's from a bygone age! - great efforts...with the whole channel! ~ james :)
Thanks. I'm glad that cycle tunnel is up and running again. Sorry for bit of a late response! I'm back on UA-cam, with only occasional postings at moment, under my renamed channel. I'm mainly doing cycling stuff at moment.
You went the wrong way that's why it's so so bumpy
Do you still cycle...?
