I went out the back door of the (most excellent) Escanaba Public Library yesterday and came upon the Cason J Callaway. Although I keep a casual eye on ships which pass our home in the U.P., I had never heard of the Cason J Callaway and took to UA-cam to learn about it. Thanks for posting this extremely informative video, Chad!
I would love to poke around in some of these older ships. See all the equipment and so forth. Would be really neat to take a trip on one to see how they operate.
Sad to see the old classics fade away, especially the AAA class. We are in Pt Colborne monthly and I will absolutely hate to see this boat meet her demise there. Tecumseh was dragged into the breaking slip there today. 😞

Same here man!
I'm an old guy. Old enough to remember the Calloway being a frequent visitor to Manistee.

Absolutely is...
Liked the shipwreck history!
Long term storage does sound like a nice term for scrapped.
She seems fine for now, the Blough is toast. When they were towing her, all of her navigational equipment and her horns were removed.
She’s a steam ship , not an MV. Nice video
Good correction, I didn't think to use S.S. Thanks for pointing that out!
