Super useful thank you! I completed the job in about 45 mins that’s to this video 👍. But the way, the heat shield tubes have a small square cutout in their walls which fits onto a notch in each of the spark holes in the valve cover. Not having the shields seated properly meant I couldn’t seat the cover down on first attempt. Tube seals came fitted onto my valve cover already. I bought the OE cover from Neo Brothers in the UK for around £140.
Nice work!! Saved me a bunch of cash, man!!! As long as you follow his instructions and have the tools he uses, it’s pretty straightforward. Well done, man!
Would you recommend replacing the plastic valve cover with an aluminum one? As I understand the plastic warps which causes the leaks frequented in these models.
How many hours does a job like this typically take? The local mini dealer quoted 19 hours labor for "valve seal" leak repair. Typical burning of 2 quarts of oil everything 5k but now starting to spit out smoke during long idle periods.
My mini gives me a code for #1, #2 cyl misfire. I did see a spark plug wet with oil. I did all spark plug and coil replacement but code still remains. Do you think it helps if I replace the valve cover gasket to avoid oil sipping into the spark plugs? Will that help get rid of the misfire codes?
As much as I enjoy your TRQ videos .... Torque specs in the descriptions PLEASE

What about tube seals. My plugs are swimming in oil. Saw you remove a couple but did not see new ones or how to install.

Perfect no-nonsense video!

Is it trequired to replace the whole cover if the gasket is leaking ?

Thank you! This was great!

Can the mini cooper country valve be cleaned with water or does it need a new one? Please let me know in the comments
Why would you need to do this? Is this due to a rough idle?
