  • This clip comes from our Shelters and Play course which is Module 4 in our Forest School Activities Online Training.
    This clip from the module shows you how to take the skills from putting up a small shelter and extend this to create a shelter for a whole group. We often use a fire resistant tarpaulin but if you are having fire, make sure the shelter is high enough so that the heat from any fire does not reach the tarpaulin. You can check this with your hands - put your hand carefully over the fire.
    In a more urban playground, as mentioned in the Ropes and Knots Module, you can fit posts into the ground to enable you to put up a tarpaulin when its needed.
