Monsters inc. Does have a sequel! It's monsters university. It's set before the first however so it doesn't ruin the first. I don't *really* count it as it doesnt really effect the original in any way and isn't that good. But it does exist..

The ending to Monsters Inc was always my favorite when I was little and it gave me that feeling of happiness that I couldn't describe at the time. It made me want to cry tears of Joy but at the time I only knew crying as a way of Showing sadness,so whatever the ending came I just held my own and tried not to cry. Honestly even got to the point that whenever I went to Disneyland and rode on the Monsters Inc ride, even then at the very end of the ride I'd get a little bit teary-eyed since it made me think about the resolution in the movie itself. Perfect ending, and as is this, a perfect video, for making me realize what I really really loved about the ending to Monsters Inc.

i think this is actually a very important point to bring up. one of my teachers told me 2 things, which really stuck with me:
"people remember only about 10% of what you teach/show them"
    &
"the things that make the 2 most memorable parts of any presentation are the beginning and the end."
of course, this wasn't directed at animation, but i think they're 2 very important things to note. and i personally need to give it much more weight then i do with stories.

it is also nice when you are surprised and a story doesn t fit a premade plan and leave you with a mix feeling .you feel enriched instead of being over explained. it s true for movies ,animation and even for children.
i think the over use of the feel good stuff makes it feel bored now. it probably doesn t affect new viewer as much( ai:children )but i remember feeling it already when i was 10.
This said this movie are technically and artistically amazing but most sin by telling their story threw the narrow end with no effort to a new strorytelling,if you manage to follow what i say ;)

They say Coco is perfect but yeah, when I compared to Monster, Inc (the gold standard) I just don't get the same feeling. Even when I try to compare it with other films I've watched, I don't get the same feeling as Toy story, Monster,Inc, Finding nemo or Wall E, so it is due to this. The ending was the generic type we're everyone had their fun deliberately showing a happy ending rather than the unconventional type, which I love by the way, where the main character/s are left in restrospection of their life/journey which you have described in this video. And I believe the latter has a greater long-time effect than the former. It's like getting the moral lesson or culmination of the events.

  • @bidereb
    @bidereb 5 років тому +3

A good thing to note while writing an ending - if the people are still alive at the end, their story does not end there. Do not cut it to the usual "that's it forever". Give them, just as you described it, emotional bond that sticks till the very end, making us feel it even after the movie has ended.

After watching this video, my mind immediately reminds me of the ending of Treasure Planet. Sure, while the ending does have a party after the adventure the characters' went through, the closing shot on Jim Hawkins looking upon the sky smiling seeing a cloud shaped like Captain John Silver looking at him back with a star shining through what would be his cyborg eye. Considering the character development of Jim Hawkins and John Silver, this might be the perfect ending any movie could have. It shows how much Jim Hawkins have grown as a character in Treasure Planet, from a trouble-making teenager with daddy issues into becoming his own man looking upon his father figure he once admired. It was an emotional catharsis like what Sully had in Monsters Inc. Even though I'm a new fan of Treasure Planet, the movie became one of my top 5 favorite animated films and even top 5 films of all time.

Worst Disney Movie of all time. 1) I hate how they exaggerated Ralph and Venelope's stupidity and recklessness way too much they were like that before but here it's annoying 2) I don't like how Venelope drove her car when a kid was playing that's like Woody and Buzz acting up. Then she played tug-a-war with the kid and broke the wheel 3) The streering wheel is the biggest plot hole in the movie and nobody brings this up. So a mysterious package shows up at his door step and he just puts it in Sugar Rush?????????? What! 4) The humor was funny but didn't feel like a Disney movie it felt more like Family Guy meets Looney Tunes I love FG and LT but that ain't Disney I immediately thought of Family Guy when I saw an Adam West reference 5) I would have loved the movie if it simply had a villian instead of making Ralph unleash a virus 6) The characters weren't heroic in this movie they were all self serving 7) So much for being inconspicuous people don't notice a chibi charcater from another franchise next to realistic people (8 The Zombie Ralphs were a very lame antagonist It felt like regular show where a character does something stupid and makes a monster in the 3rd act, (7 I didn't appreciate that Deus ex Machina at the end. So much for charcaters working for a happy ending they knew Godzilla Ralph would just disappear after Ralph appolgizes. (9 The Gags I funny but the plot was garbage (10 What happened to not being allowed to leave your game? (11 the moral was very sweet friends sometimes come and go and you should let them follow their dreams but it was poorly executed. 12) Why didn't Venelope just drive the new track after hours.

cadence: expressing/putting out your yo-yo, displaying your reaction/emotion to the fragrance of the emotion you caught like a fish. This back and forth tempo is what enables you to continue/not be stuck in a certain time frame ... Direct the completion(not as a prison bar, but rather a starting line for time to _continue),_ this is not forced but nudged/voluntary Humility... (where we do not kick Truth around(this is deceitful dark magic), but change it. By doing something about it, and in this way we lie our way into a New Truth that is far older than the Truth we initially received... (This happens by being wrong(you will be called out because you changed the Truth), but that is what causes change/time to happen/move... The other wants to go back to the initial chord/emotion, and that is good because that is what causes a Cadence to take place...
ONly *when you desire to be wrong,* are you Convicted to do actually do something about the Proud Truth/Excuses(humbly *magic/invisible Practice of being wrong... to open mystery/hogwarts(hospitality)* by sacrificing both the good and evil), instead of Proudly kicking/blaming it around(having it get stuck in/ *drunk* /outta the cadence of time)...
when we keep our yo yo in us for too long, we take -Time gives us a bottle of 24hour- comfort in that thing. We can be drunk on the product, never having enough... Or, we can sacrifice the bottle we are given out of the HUmble Conviction that it is selfish to drink/have any of it... And in this way you are able to be hospitable (but would you not just be addicting people/giving them free food???) You somehow need them to feel Welcome even if you do hate/disagree with them... Perhaps your real life example of not being needy for comfort/hospitality, will show people that it _is_ possible to "survive" without the extra aid of comfort/hospitality... (you are not trying to lure them in to drink from their bottle in order to quench your pain). This is geniuine freedom from the ultimate ulterier motive will open people up to produce/sacrifice real HOspitality/comfort, enabling it to actually take place/come to life... Because you have no secret to hide, the room/yo yo is constantly well cleaned/sober from any possessions/idols/craving/needy lust for comfort/hospitality, the needy need to remove/rest from the thorn in the flesh...
You have to sacrifice your passions of comfort that you are ashamed of because you are unwilling to share them...ONly when you sacrifice, will you be able/convicted to share without keeping the fortress of shame locked fully.
The castle of comfort automatically grows every night as we sleep. We need to dismantle the Prison walls of comfort to have material/bricks to build/start the day with. The smaller the casltle the easier it is to dismattle/sacrifice (it is still painfull, but at least it is easier than toppling a skyscraper stacked with RollsRoyces...). We can destroy our _McGuffin Castle_ of comfort/ulterior motives by prying each brick out with painful thorns of the flesh. This is an act of Humility, where the only thing you are ashamed of is shame itself... (shame is when you steal bricks to be added to your own Castle, because you want more comfort, faster). Thus you gotta Practice blowing the trumpets of Jerico around your castle every day, no matter what cool/new thing has grown/appeared overnight. yOu need to not be selfish and instead of hiding/masterbating over it, you share it... Otherwise if you are not _modest_ /moderate about your stuff, you will be _ashamed..._ for you will not want anyone to destroy your Truth. Being wrong will end your Truth, but not in a way that will end/imprison it, like it is done when passive. But rather complete/open/make Ready for a new beginning, one that is out of your control... It is more about Practicing(invisible/magic/modest) the destructive trumpet blast/Cadence, than it is about the ever growing/collapsing Tetris bricks... That is what painful/mindboggling Evangilism is. (for a clean/healty home/building is still welcoming to demons, thus it is not about the bricks, but rather Practicing the Cadence...)
This is love, when you do not stop the party because someone does not want to party, not because you value the party more than the person. But because you do not want to punish him, for not participating. He should always be able to come back to the party. NOt come back to ruins that confirm his initial belief in a lack of love... *Causing shaking hands is when you expect others to create the the love, instead of Loyaly taking on full responsibility on yourself. To make life happen* instead of playing the victim and throwing a pity party for your "out of control(orphaned)" weaknessess
We are all the same. Thus we need the simple help of our Heavenly Father(through prayer), to get along with our siblings... Prayer in this way is a simplier act than looking for something inside you(calculating/thinking) or the physical things outside you(working). IT is so simple/here/present that it requires the Most Humility... What is this lack of prostitution/distraction? Trust? Demons cower, because they are not willing to Pray(talk intimately to God). Prayer is intimate/responsible conversation... To talk/open like this to God is to make yourself naked...
Atheists are not those that do not believe in God, but rather those that do not Pray. To not Pray is to not participate in Church, when we Pray(open our soul to the universe) we create a firework that is contaigious. Creates a Church/desire to open.... To sacrifice all your plans/acts To run away from the ONe who is creating/in charge of the party of Love... this is what it means to being grounded/taking responsibility for loving, instead of taking the easy route and putting/expecting the responsiblity on the shoulder of others... But heaven is only possible, when we take the responsibility to make it happen by sacrificing our lusts/Pride/Ego, that we can allow to passively possess us... We then have no time, but when we sacrifice our busieness, we have all the time in the world... We are masters of time. When we do not try to fake responsibilty by numbing the angst/responsibility through drug(Excess/obsessions/idolization of anything) like curses... (a high substitute of Pride for Prayer... And it makes us feel like we are outta time (in both ways, but yet also stuck/out in Space). But Prayer is the grounding Humility which enables us to be _in_ time (in both ways, and also moving through space), because we are masters of it, capable of slowing it down, or speeding it up. By being Alpha & Omega. Will not look as glam/flashy as the drug user, but that is only because you are actually Working/Controlling time, and he is not...
_The real Clock is one where you are able to change the speed like you can with a YoYo..._
To Have without any Work, is a decietful illusion that Drugs try to give us... You cannot actually Have anything, unless you put in the Work/hours of Prayer... Thus the Truth that you have so many Problems is not actually True, for if you work on it in Sacrifice/Prayer, you will have a different Truth... Drugs come into the picture when we want the easy Solution without the hard Work... This is possessive reliance, is the petty Truth that demons passively engage in and cause all "hands to shake," for the "result" is not grounded in any work of personal responsibility... It is flying dangerously overhead looking for someone else to land on... That is how we manage to distract ourselves... By putting the burden on our own shoulders, instead of our own shoulders...
A man needs to always be on an Adventure, the way Aladdin was... That is how he was able to no be ashamed to boldly take Jazmine.
To be *straightforward,* one must be open to be _known,_ and not Known about, in the *wayward* sense.... But how???
We have to choices. To be PRoud about our weaknesses (announce and pity to all in the fact that we are fallen, this can be done in public or isolation), or be HUmble in our weaknessess (not prostituting them for all to see, by taking Dominion over them with Prayer. The humilty that enables us to not put weaknessess on pedestals, and in this way you give birth to people their soul back... But what does this mean? What is this Practice of Humility??? I understand now that People feel like imperfect Shells which are naked when the soul is absent/not stimulated by the other... Then it is akward because we only allow the surface level of weaknessess to show and nothing more, but we need to always look deeper and give people a chance with a soul, a hope that even they may not believe in..., no matter how foolish/vulnerable this may make us seem...
A good pride is when you have something to be Humble about, while an evil Pride is when you have nothing to be Humble about... ONly then do you appear as a theif that needs to take/get away with something that "belongs to/is missing from them" this is an illusion that the devil uses to stimulate evil Pride. It is *Sacrilidge. [you think you need more in order to live, and thus are Not Humble about what you have... the YoYo soul]* and this in turn makes the hands of all tremble... (its not that you need to get something in order to _eventually_ not steal, but rather be Humble for what you already have...) = this is the good Pride. "you might think you know, but you have no idea..." (shark tale, valerie memory). To think that we need to get/steal something because we have nothing to be humble about is deciet/murder/evil. The way of the snake.
"Who can find a wife of noble character? She is farmore precious than rubies." The worth of a wife is found by the man (he must be able to cultivate the value, otherwise she is no different from fools gold or blood diamonds that are attempted to be "stollen"). What should be done instead, is to analyze/be acutely aware/in Practice/Gratefull for what we _Have..._

I disagree I think the overall story is more important than the ending.
