@@MegaGasek I know I'm responding to a very old comment, but I got Swanstation working on my PC setup in Retroarch/Launchbox, but it wouldn't play games on my girlfriend's PC no matter how I set it up, and no PSX core worked. So I set up standalone DuckStation and then added it to Launchbox as it's own emulator, going to tools and then into adding an emulator instead of adding it as a Retroarch core, sat it up, and it's working great now.
@@ChillyB7uk That's because the DuckStation core is no longer officially supported by DuckStation's developer(s). It's being maintained by... RetroArch I think?
That interlacing is only from the US / Japan version of Tekken 3. PAL version looks perfectly clean but runs 17% slower like all PAL games. There is no perfect version of Tekken 3 on the PS1. Tekken 3 is the only game i'm aware of that has this interlace issue on the PS1.
I still prefer CHD format as it takes less space on hdd, and I can always recreate original iso from it. PBP is only better when it comes to multi-disc but you can always add m3u to fix this problem. Overall you can always make PBP from CHD but you are not able to make proper CHD from PBP. About launchbox is there option to support this emulator without retroarch ?
How do we do this without RetroArch? If I follow along using the PCSX tutorial im left with the command line arguments and uto hotkey field being blank
Hey eta prime, how do you hide the duckstation console loading screen in bigbox. I've tried checking off the hide console on startup/bigbox setting, but that didn't do anything.
Hi, I ever use duckstation with the enhacement option in on, but if i want to use it with lauch box through of retroarch with the core like you in the tutorial i cant find the way to played with the enhacement. you can help me please=??
I had already had my psx games imported into LaunchBox with the .cue files (was using Beetle HW) and when I switched over to duckstation core through manage emulators it works fine with the .cue files, so i'm not sure that what you say is accurate on that point (same with the standalone version of duckstation, i tried that too)
The author recommends stand alone. But they're very close. It's difficult to notice, but retroarch in general holds back cores. Edit: don't use retroarch any longer. The retroarch team forked it and aren't keeping up with the updates.
I downloaded this core through retroarch i have the correct bios but still all i get is black image with the sound of the game playing. Weird behavriour from my end, it seems like its not working for me
There is NO duck station available sadly. There is a "SwanStation" but sadly will not project any psone games on my Launchbox. Has anybody had this issue?
Duckstation is still an emulator, and is still available for download. If you are referring to the different RetroArch cores, there are many to choose from and you should choose based on the device you are using and how well it functions on it.
Hello, I have bad audio issues with this core. But when I have the stand-alone emulator everything sounds ok. Have you experienced this issue before? Thank you for taking the time to read this message :-)
I have not. Our community forums could be helpful in deducing the config changes you would need to help with your audio issues: forums.launchbox-app.com/
Is there anything Duckstation can do what other PSX cores like BeetlePSX can't? Does it have any unique features or is it just another PSX core that happens to support less formats?
Duckstation can run on a potato. Beetle can't. It's REALLY FAST. It runs some games that Beetle can't either, but the number is tiny. PBP is not a good format btw.
Why not just use the standalone DuckStation emulator itself without Launchbox? Saves you all the necessary time & trouble setting up another emulator via another emulator.
everything works perfectly until i try to load the game then it simply just wont load (FIXED) my problem was i didnt have duckstation as my associated platform because they changed the name of duckstation too swanstation but you still must use the duuckstation one and not wswan
This is a disaster of a set up for me, i have an entire set of ps1 games, but almost every one game has multiple bin files (tracks), guess ill have to look for a differnt ps1 emulator
@@winedown1 I couldn't find exact problem why this happens, but as mentioned above just download standalone version and point lb to .exe. works perfectly.
Lack of Cue support kills this one from being a viable option for me. I have over 1560 titles and I'm not about to re-import them as BINS....YIKES....dang it, I hope they add support for CUEs soon.
It could be a number of issues, but it's possible because DuckStation does not have support for m3u playlists. If this is the case, you would need to turn this off in the emulator's settings under the Associated Platform tab.
It's the NTSC version of Tekken 3 that does this. The interlacing is not from the emulator. I don't know of any other PS1 game that has this issue. The PAL version looks perfectly clean but runs 17% slower like all PAL games, so there isn't a perfect version of Tekken 3 on the PS1. I would like to see (and appreciate) a video on setting up DuckStation without Retroarch. Thanks.
I second it!

3 years late; but I also would like this. Retroarch has been a headache with getting things to work
The stand alone version has become my new emulator for this system.
Always interested in the standalone versions and differences. Keep it up, ETA.
I can't find Duckstation on my Update Core files, what do I do?
EDIT: Nevermind, just found out it's been renamed SwanStation.
it became more how you say "elegant"
Thank you ^^^
It still doesn't show up for me.
'ello you!
Hey ETA since you like running as much as you can on Retroarch (like I do) would you mind sharing the list of all the cores you use?
That’d be the day. I’ve been asking for a master core list forever. Fingers crossed.
ETA made a video of a quick setup of Retroarch and he mentions the cores he uses for genisis, nes, snes and quite a few others
I switched to DuckStation sometime ago and have to say its great!
I'm diggin' it as well. 👍
I was like "wait, you know this voice" :D Hi Eta :D
Amazing Duckstation emulator, I think it will even match Sony Playstation one PSX emulator. Ideal to put it with the collection of the database!
I have no problems using cue files with Duckstation ETA, they work just like in any other emulator.
Hey :)
Could you do a tutorial on how to use the Standalone version of Duckstation with Launchbox?
9:03 disbale interlacing , this is patetic scannlines movement , and activate true color rendering 😉👌🌟
Where do we get the BIOS documents from? 🤷♂️
With the recent releases of eXoDOS v5.0 and DOSBox Pure for Retroarch... I would really love to see a tutorial video on those.
its swan station now and cue files work now too.
I would love to switch to it but all my roms are in pbp format. I hope they add pbp support in the future.
A standalone tutorial would be fantastic! Not hopeful, though, since It's been about 5 months and it doesn't exist yet. Would love it, though.
Did exactly as shown in the video, and there is no duckstation on the list for me to download :(
I believe the Duckstation core in Retroach is now known as Swanstation bizarrely
@@ChillyB7uk That's because the DuckStation core is no longer officially supported by DuckStation's developer(s). It's being maintained by... RetroArch I think?
Maybe do a comparison between the top PS1 cores and stand alone emulators etc?
Does it not have proper de-interlacing? Maybe in the options? Sadly it looks terrible with all the interlace hatching.
You can disable it in setting and
the enhancement tabs.

@@epicon6 you can just disable the interlacing in the enhancements tab. Also you can run PAL games at NTSC speeds
So is there a full pbb set anywhere? Does it make multi-disc games seamless then?
Just a quick update on this. It seems Duckstation supports PBP and CHD now, though I've only tested one game.
I cant see duckstation in my list despite update core info and db :(
what if you want to import all the files to the launchbox folder I have all the ps1 games do I just select the folder all of them are in or ??????

Maybe try making sure your memory card isn't saved in your documents folder. You might have a permissions thing going on.

have you consider doing a switch port?
Do have a video of putting mame system in an actual arcade? ... If not that would be cool to see.

what about .cue and iso does .cue not matter and just use iso and bin files orrrrr

They're not at all close now. The standalone is significantly better and the RA core isn't being maintained by the DuckStation dev(s).
Do PS1 retroachievements work with this setup?
standalone version: soon
What about games that have a bunch of bin files?
I cant get a xbox controller to work in the retroarch duckstation :(
a question..in the emulator pcx2 how can I run a game "completely" because the emulator always executes them "fast" in some games
hello do you no a fix for when you exit on launchbox on the standalone ver. when i hit esc key i go to emulaor
Set mine up just like you said and all the games stutter and sound is crackly.
