STI became Staccato cause medical field changed STD to STI, so not wanting to be affiliated with a disease, they changed their name. At least this is what I was told.

Of course this is why they changed it. I’m surprised they didn’t change it sooner lol, kinda embarrassing to respond “yeah I have an STI” when someone asks what gun you carry 😂

No, they changed their name due to a contract gone bad on some 40sw guns they made that had a lot of issues. After that they didn't want to be associated with the name.

Hey i really enjoyed the video, it was brief but informative! Ive done my own research into the origins of and comparisons between the 1911 and "2011," and to be honest i have not heard the explaination that you gave before concerning the influence of race shooting as the basis for the development of the 2011. It seemed to me that 2011s were actually double stacked 1911s first developed and introduced by para ordinance as you said (and my own research agrees with you), but from the way ive heard that moniker (2011) used by at least one youtube channel i can recall, the impression i got is that they believe any double stacked 1911 is automatically a 2011 and therefore a different gun altogether. When i read about para ordinance, their canadian roots, their acquisition by Remington, and the rebranding of their guns (btw, the Remington R1 Tactical Double Stacked Threaded is the 1911 i want more than any other), i became convinced or at least highly suspicious that the name "2011" was more a term used to generalize modern innovations made to the antiquated by still very viable and competitve 1911 platform. I have never owned one myself personally, but ive shot them at the range and qualified with one for work i used to do (security) and enjoyed the 1911 immensely. Anyway, thanks again for upload
About 90% of General Shooters will cross use '2011' with a '1911 high capacity' specifically because of the lack of other knowledge between the two guns. But from an engineering standpoint manufacturers themselves differentiate between 1911 and 2011 platforms. That's why the box for the 1911 high capacity from Rock Island just says hc 1911. But I do appreciate the message and I'm glad you enjoyed it. And it is always entirely possible I missed something, so doing your own research on top is always recommended. I just wanted to get some basic info out.

Para Ordnance was never a 2011. The 2011 is a 2 piece modular frame consisting of the rails and a grip module. Chip McCormick actually designed the 2011 using a titanium lower but needed the help of Virgil Tripp and Sandy Stayer to bring an affordable version to market. Sandy and Virgil ended up with the patents and started the company, Stayer Tripp International or STI. Para, Rock River and Caspian are all examples of what's NOT a 2011. Now, the patent on the 2 piece frame expired so anyone can use the frame but Staccato owns the 2011 name.

There is a SERIOUS problem with the firearms industry and consolidation. Its a problem for more than juat consumers. Its a problem poltiically. Those few companies that are left, have way too much money to lobby.
It just makes the entire industry look bad. Big companies like that will put profit above everything. And when we are talkng something as serious as guns, that can cause issues.
So there isn’t a 2011 pistol? It seemed like you called this video 1911 vs 2011 and then you said both were 1911’s.

Im here out of curiosity. Everything I’ve read only ever mentions double stack and grip module, never any differences in internals. So that I understand, the only difference between a 1911 and 2011 is the double stack and grip module? 2011 marketed as a race gun when neither of those things affect speed or accuracy? We could make an argument for better grip but I’m sure you can get alternative grips for a 1911 that work well. Does a 2011 trigger feel better being slightly different?

I still don't get it.... A 2011 is 2011 because of removable grip panels.... Aren't 1911 grip panels removable as well? So, that basically means all 1911s are 2011s, based on that definition of 2011.
Pretty sure 2011's grips aren't panels but an entire grip module that includes the trigger guard & frame.
