You Just Have To Hear This BMW G310GS Owner Compare His Bike With My KTM 390 Adventure
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 бер 2020
- The KTM 390 Adventure is the hot new motorcycle in the beginner adventure bike segment and it is feature loaded. Traction control, switchable ABS, cornering ABS, plenty of power, but does that mean anything in the real world?
The BMW G310 GS has been around for over a year now and is relatively a simpler motorcycle. Basic ABS, no traction control, quite a lot less power, bigger price tag, but does that make it a lesser motorcycle?
Specifications on paper are one thing, but do they matter when a motorcycle hits the road? What the specifications never tell you is how a motorcycle is to live with on a day-to-day basis; how comfortable it is; how the handling characteristics might be; the service costs etc etc.
These are things that even reviewers can't tell you. After all, they have these bikes for a few hours and have to push out videos, articles and social media posts.
So, to get a real picture of what a motorcycle is like, there is no better opinion than that of an owner. An owner who has spent thousands of kilometres with a bike, and gone through a few services - because this man's opinion is based on experiences that nobody else can give you.
I happened to come across one such person - Aditya Vijayaraghavan - who has covered some 13,000 km on his BMW G310 GS. In this video, Aditya talks about his motorcycle and tries to compare it with the KTM 390 Adventure that he had a short spin on.
The answer to which is better - the KTM 390 ADV or the BMW G310 GS - might not be that simple after all. Watch this guy talk about both these bikes for 25 minutes, non-stop. Believe me, it is quite a treat and informative at the same time.

The most unbiased comparison I’ve seen in a long long time....no one-upmanship by the respective owners while comparing the bikes....kudos to you both!
Thanks, Donald.
This Video is priceless for me as I have GS and wanted a extensive look into the KTM adventure and this video does it and glad its in english thanks. Great insight and really thanks to you guys making it
BMW is daylight robbery even here in the US! I rode the baby GS when it came out and, like many reviewers, stalled it many times and found it lacking the low end grunt too, apart from being very under-powered. Having recently ridden the KTM, I can say the KTM is more of a international motorcycle when it comes to power and features. As for riding in the dirt, you guys should do some training esp for dual purpose or big adventure bikes- where they will tell you that upright is not how you stand on adv bikes. You should always have knees bent, elbows bent, both not locked, slightly hunched over the handlebars (attack position)...though I do enjoy just standing upright (relaxing from sitting down) on a Himalayan, the right way to tackle trails is in attack position. That's how I can make even my FZ09 work on trails pretty well actually! ;)
Another good video though- kudos!
Hi. I did hit the trail after shooting this video and yeah, I was in a slight attack mode most of the time. If was my first time out on a trail. I've recently started following Mototrek channel on UA-cam and am trying to understand the nuances of riding off the road.
Hopefully, will get better at this. Thank you.
@@abhinavbhatt Mototrek is a great channel and Brett is a great person in real life. Very helpful pointers there for sure. Good luck! 👍
just the comment I was looking for ✌️
Very well said @BK moto. I feel very sorry for these boys who buy this bike just for the Logo and the sweet lines which company tells..
And don't worry @Abhinav your KTM is much much better mechine and far more fun bike.. you will realise it sooner or later for sure.. (may be post selling it like me Ahahahaha)
Haha. I may or may not sell it, depending on how my big ADV feels.

That guy is so smooth and he explained it very well
I've watched all the reviews but this one is the most complete and detailed review that I've come across! Kudos 👌
Stay connected with this guy.He is also very feature loaded in his brains. How he explained the motorcycles it shows how much control and depth he has about riding on these machines. And I see many videos on motorcycle on You Tube, many of the video makers are so called experts, But never seen expertise like this before.I am so enlightened.Godspeed to you both ✋
This guy really knows his chops! Kudos for a brilliant video! Abhinav keep posting fabulous content like this!
Awesome thorough review, very happy to have found your channel. I am in Canada, looking to buy a European bike, and I am relying on riders in India to get some real info on the two bikes that I am divided on. That is just too cool!!!!! Thanks for the brilliant reviews, you cover everything a new buyer needs to know. Cheers!
Thanks, Olivier. Do let us know which bike you go in for. Happy riding.

u got a perfect partner for making videos man. He is just awesome and gotta your kinda explaining style. Thanks for video
Very knowledgeable and insightful, that guy really knows these motorcycles quite well. Best review comparison I’ve seen so far. He pointed out the highs and lows of each bike perfectly. If that’s you’re friend I highly recommend you have him review bikes with you. He’s one of the best reviewers I’ve seen yet hands down. Great video sir really liked the honest thoughts and hello from the USA. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Guys, that was a really good review. I agree, it was unbiased and it really does make a difference that Adiatya has had his GS for a year. Perhaps a follow up with some thoughts about the bikes on modest off road riding, and some more chat about the controls and dash/ instrument layout and info. Well done; you really did add useful information to the other reviews on The Tube. Thanks!
Thank you so much for giving a very brief idea of these two beauty 😊
Really awesome and detailed comparison about each and every aspect of mode of riding which can be done on these two bikes. I must have seen this 3-4 times.
Best part is you both are experienced enough to talk about it. Wish you guys can make vlog on 2020 310 gs.
Thanks again for your efforts.
Will try some time.
soon
Great presentation
Precise and well versed in the subject

Wow, dude knows his shit which isn't common among riders or vloggers nowadays. Impressed. I can sit and talk to this guy about bikes all day 😉
Met this guy in jaipur . Good Rider. Authentic review.

Really awesome and informative comparison, thank you! Great video!
This is the best comparison of BMW v/s KTM on the internet till time. Thanks a ton for the video.
Excellent video and very informative... thank you Gentlemen.... keep safe
Great coverage and analysis. Thanks
Such a detailed n honest review - u guys r awesome
Dear @Abhinav and @Aditya, came here after i saw a link of this video in recommendations, and dare i say, this is one good comparison video that kept me hooked till the very end. This kind of comparison is something i've never seen in any of the indian auto mag versions and certainly not by any of the mainstream indian vloggers till date. This video answered many of the questions that was lingering in my mind regarding these two bikes, big shoutout for that. The way Aditya spoke about the minutiae of the bikes' personas speaks volumes about his eye for detail and passion for motorcycling, not to mention his excellent command of the language(And yours as well, good sir). Dare i say, if this guy writes a book, i'm gonna buy and read it! I would love to see you guys do such honest comparison videos of other bikes as well given the chance, and would certainly love to see Aditya having his own channel here. Cheers, ride hard, ride safe.
Great presentation and informative.
Thank you.
Best video and review on BMW 310 GS 😊😎 .. Going to buy BS6 gs .. waiting for it to be launched in August
Saw this video published in an article too on gaadiwadi... Amazing 👌
Man he seems so much like you when talking about bikes to the camera. Just a different texture of voice but damn the way he speaks is so much AB.
Thank you for the video. Very useful information.
Great video brother ❤️👌👌👌
Can't get more information than this video anywhere else. Superb ❤️👌👌👌
Great review buy the GS owner. Real time experience is really good, no nonsense absolutely great. His sort of views is what I like. Real riders don't cheat. Better than fake interviews by auto journalists. Kudos..👏👏 If I buy it will be the BMW, has better snob value as well. 😊
All great points. Thanks for posting this.
Excellent comparison! I'm 55 and getting my first bike and battling between these two bikes. I'm 6'2 and 240 lbs and haven't even been seated either, but according to reviews, KTM could be a bit cramped while on BMW the softness of the front suspension makes me wonder. Anyway waiting for the spring to try them out - BMW sure is a looker and in the vid nicely equipped. Again, very good comparison, thanks!
Great review I’m contemplating buying the Beemer. I love how it looks. The suspensions are awesome and it’s very comfy. People complain that the GS does not have a lot of features but I think that’s not going to be a deal breaker for me. Outdated console. Absolutely fine. I’m not buying the bike to only look at the TFT display. Both bikes are good. But the GS has my heart. ❤️
Well said bro
Love the looks of the bmw no doubt, but I think you will find the engine a bit lackluster compared to the ktm.
@@sunnyk4743 Yeh dude that's a comprise but for regular use and all the comfort is import and bmw is great st that. But at the end it comes down to personal choice
I love the gs through my personal experience
Thanks for the lovely details
Impressed of the english skills.. honestly. Very good video!

Worth watching the video and the basic view and ideas about the 390 adventure
Ton's of information ...
Thank you
Well i just bought my GS in the 30th Septembre , it is due to arrive in January... long time it seams, so i keep watching some videos and realize BMW fixed some issues like the full led headlights, and electronic accelerator. Mine comes with 5 years warranty and 3 years full service with it. Nice video
Very Detailed Explanation, great going Sir...
Excellent review and comparison! Great content! Subscribed!
Thanks
Sir , I'm a big fan and I've watched almost all of your videos and I'm also a moto-enthusiast and I'm planning on getting the interceptor next year immediately after I get my license and your videos give me a lot of info about bikes and I don't usually drop comments on videos but still , I just wanted to tell you that I admire your work man 🤘
Thanks, brother :)
You guys really gave me a deep perspective of both the machines...
Thanks Abhinav BMW or KTM all doubts cleared and thank you again for inviting Aditya who was really honest about his BMW and the comparison of both the bikes.
Great review! Thank you!
Gr8 comparison ..almost all the points covered in detail
One of my friends just bought a pre owned GS310 and the first thing he did was modify the headlights. He got a pair of dual beam led lights and it was fairly easy to install them. He also changed the horn to trumpet horns from Bosch. So i dont think fiddling with the electronics is troublesome on this bike. I myself would go for the KTM owing to its ownership costs and a full set of features.

Great review! I'm sure it made decisions easier for quiet a few people...
Thanks for the video
This guy is great , collab with him 💓🙌 or tell him to review more with you. u both another level combo
Love the content guys
This is the best comparison on You Tube, Aditya is excellent with his reasoning. Very Good Video , thank you sir's .
This guys is really good and so honest review…GS is in my mind too..How good is the pillion comfort in Adv 390 considering it’s acceleration..? I tour with pillion …
thnnq Abhinav & Aaditya.
Its really useful review.
Very thorough review.
About the KTM rear monoshock rebound. I saw this trend start from the 3rd batches of the 2017 KTMs. Almost every bike bought after September had a very soft rebound. Now at first I thought that was a faulty suspension, but I saw this trend continue. Now all my KTMs had very stiff rebound and even preload (because I bought them before this trend), so far that I run my Interceptor's reload at 1 step below Max.
Am glad there's a full English review on this so a guy like could understand. Most g310gs review from India usually only the video title is in English😃. Anyways, great in-depth review, I'm impressed after a year of riding without crash bar that bike is still in mint condition.
top review man! great video
What an honest review! I have the bmw, and yes its pretty confortable! I placed Oxford heated grips and led auxiliar lights from China for 50€. The only thing i dont like about the bike is the engine on high rpm, because its very "torquy" i'm thinking of changing the front sproklet to one with one more teeth to reduce its rpm's at high speeds
You will loose the low end grunt on this..
awesome comparison!!!!
Thanks, Ashwin.
What about the heating issue and vibrations? I felt it on the test ride bike.
And I must say you guys are really honest nd very informative. Loved the review really. Thank u.
I can't speak about the BMW but the KTM does not heat up at all. I do feel annoyinng vibrations at the pegs though. Slight on the bars and mirrors too.
Cool details for each motorcycles. I would really want to know what mic are you using to record this video. Since both your voices are pretty clear compared to the traffic at the background. Thanks

Good Video bro, but I felt a completely different experience, thank you and keep the good going bro.
Great review and the comparison...I will really like to see Aditya to compare BMW GS BS6 with the BS4 version and highlights the differences. Thanks
Definitely a lot better than the old BS4, infact it is better than the KTM as far as throw and spread is concerned. + that headlight vibration has been fixed.
Very good review, guys!

A refreshingly different perspective from the "paid" reviews (from auto journalists) that we have learned to take with a pinch of salt.

Quite informative. Good one
