Thanks for the chance to comment to that doubts: With Sirius Yachts you can choose between various keel versions including different length of fins, real swing keels and twin keels. They are in fact the most famous for blue water cruising and the boat we showed in Seattle at the show earlier this year, has been sailed with them all the way from Germany through the Atlantic, Panama Canal, through the Pacific, via Micronesia and Hawaii to Vancouver by their owners. Performance in rough weather conditions is pending much more on the hull shape and level of weight stability, rather than the keel version you are choosing your boat in, but that`s a different question (if of interest, I am happy to explain why we did what we did). The twin keels perform likewise in rough seas as they have the same stability rating as the deeper fins. But they also carry more weight to archive this, which makes some motion even more gentle. Only thing is: if you are sailing hull speed, 20° heeled (or more) in high waves you might get occasionally some air behind the keel which is forced out with some sound

Hi Dale, I'm not sure I get your question. Some things on a monohull can be modified easily, some are more difficult. What do you want to modify it for?
Saw a Nauticat just last week (which is not a catamaran, funnily enough) Generally, looking for pilothouse yields some results and some of them do really have the salon on deck level
Had to double check to make sure. But the distinction is directly in the name: If there is an enclosed steering (piloting) position above deck, it's a "pilothouse". If the main sitting area (salon) is (also) above deck, it's a "decksalon".
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 Thanks for checking that, but I actualy had in mind your wirds on 0:57 where you called it a doghouse. I think there is a difference but I dont know what is it)) doghouse? decksalon?

@@fantomax1446 you are very much welcome on board! In the saloon are you will find 2,08m standing height, in all cabins below it could be up to 2,03m in nearly all rooms. As this looks a bit much for "standard" tall people we raise the floor level artificially...so you would even spare us some work in taking more standing height ;-). Beds are already 2,05m+ but as all our boats are semi-custom build you are welcome to bring in your ideas and have it built after your requirements
There have been an number of curcumin-navigations on older yachts even. Some Atlantic crossings. Recently a 40 DS was collected by the owners in Germany and sailed straight back to Vancouver via Canary islands, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Micronesia, Hawaii. A second one just arrived in Barbados. One is on its way to the Indian Ocean.
Not deadly, really ;-) …but as this boats are made to measure - you can choose different versions after your liking. Always a balance between comfort and practicability pending on your type of sailing or if its convinced enough to use the sink in the galley in really rough seas instead
Sirius Werft That is a very interesting boat. I single-handed for six months on a sailboat I bought at the age of 50 have a never sailed in my life. I bought a Beneteau 46 in 1999. I had three days of lessons from a 20-year-old kid who drank a case of beer a day. Although I’m not a beer drinker I’ve been alive for 50 years and I’ve never heard of this beer that he was drinking and I’m quite certain it isn’t because it was an exclusive brand. He let me off at my new vacation home on the Chesapeake and drove off leaving me alone. Three months later with my nine-year-old son I sell out of the mouth of the Chesapeake and down to the Caribbean, family and friends accusing me of attempting a murder suicide! But I went with Steve Black’s Caribbean 1500 And I can honestly say that I’ve never spent six months more enchanted in my life. Beneteau fun to sale I realized after I sailed an Amel. If I were going to live on a boat I would sacrifice some of that agility for the robustness of a boat like an Amel or this boat. Congratulations on this boat. If I ever come back (I’m 73 With a paralyzed hand)I’ll try to remember! Enjoy.
@@robertlee8042 Wow, Robert thank you very much for sharing this inspiring story. I am glad you enjoyed it! There are sooo many people who could be that happy simply going for their dreams instead of worrying about it. One of my customers bought a 32 when retired, had no experience at all and sailed from Germany over to the Caribbean the year after just the 2 of them. They spoke not a word of English or any other forren language but just enjoyed and got so easy in contact with locals. Then he was run down by an 80 year old Taxi driver in Costa Rica spend month in hospital over there before he could be flown home. Insurance shipped the boat back to Germany. He had to learn speaking and walking again and will never be totally back to normal ...but 2,5 years later, they set sail again over to the US and are cruising these grounds since 4 years now...All the best! Enjoy live!
Same question. Anything specific? This was one of the sturdier boats - I believe 5cm of full laminate (not sandwhich) under the waterline and stuff like that.
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 short answer-100,000 miles Long answer- like most modern yacht design too much has been taken from ocean racing. With that almost flat bottom, wide beam and wide stern there isn't enough boat actually in the water. In heavy weather you couldn't sail upwind because the crew can't take that much pounding, that type of hull will NOT heave to,try lying a hull-you'll be blown around like a piece of Styrofoam.Run off downwind?again that hull style, she'll surf like a bitch and sooner or later you lose control, most of us don't come close to the skills of vendee globe sailors. I'm sure she's a lot of fun to sail, just too extreme for a true blue water boat. Each to their own
You're right, have been contemplating a gimbal for some time now, but haven't found one that is suitable for me yet. Moreover I'm not sure it would help in this specific case: Trying to keep a dozen randomly moving people out of frame is just... difficult. It's not like I have the boat to myself. Well, who doesn't like to look at oneself from time to time. =) More importantly a mirror allows me to demonstrate the size of a room / provide a new viewing angle / talk to the camera for a change without having to turn the camera around. Win-win
Part Time Crazy Boats for 700k I want two story elevator going down, a lock out hatch a mini sub attached, a decompression chamber and I want to seal it up and submerge to 200’ and still make 8 to 10 kts for up to 21 days. And there’s no reason they can’t be built to do this. Why ride the waves in a storm when you could just as easily motor under the waves in a hurricane as you do in the calmest of seas. As a commercial saturation diver and structural designer fabricator; I could damn sure build a submergible sail boat with all this bling for 700,k
@@dalethebelldiver7740 I'm with you on that. The usual problem with yachts: small series numbers and thousands of hours of manual labor (often in an expensive labour market).
@@dalethebelldiver7740 In fact, this boat start from 350K and there is a younger cheaper model 35 DS, which is slightly smaller, but not much different, except for the lack of a version with a 3rd aft cabin.

Also very nice people.
Filmed more Sirius videos this winter.
Will be getting them out soon(-ish) =)
I always liked the islander freeport 36 but this but sirus wins hands down
Nice little cruiser, some interesting ideas.
Will check it out more thoroughly.
Thanks for the hint.
What about a mono hull? Is it good or should I be looking for something else and can a monohull be modified?
Hi Dale, I'm not sure I get your question.
Some things on a monohull can be modified easily, some are more difficult.
What do you want to modify it for?
🤩👍⛵
How tall are you?
185cm / 6'1"
You are easily amused!
are there any other monohull that pilot house ? i cant find any thing even close
Saw a Nauticat just last week (which is not a catamaran, funnily enough)
Generally, looking for pilothouse yields some results and some of them do really have the salon on deck level
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 thanks for the tips looking forward to buying a 40ds
@@Wonka_Tonka Glad for you!
New Moody 41DS
Isnt it a pilot house?
Had to double check to make sure.
But the distinction is directly in the name:
If there is an enclosed steering (piloting) position above deck, it's a "pilothouse".
If the main sitting area (salon) is (also) above deck, it's a "decksalon".
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 Thanks for checking that, but I actualy had in mind your wirds on 0:57 where you called it a doghouse. I think there is a difference but I dont know what is it)) doghouse? decksalon?
How much?
So, @Philippe Vennet saw it in a French magazine for 520K Euro base price.
@Chip Man, after talking to Sirius, reported a 575K base price and with the options in the video 750K total.
The boat is great, but this is one of the worst walkaround I've ever tried to watch (quit within 6 minutes of pain)
Sorry to hear that.
Check out the Sirius 35DS walkaround.
ua-cam.com/video/8YgNDvuS9RI/v-deo.html
It's much newer, so should be better.
Or it will inflict even more pain, muahaha =)
Have you ever been on a boat in the water? Sorry if you more experienced than you seem to be... my guess was about zero
Yes, I have. It was a white pedal boat on the local lake made to look like a swan.
Except the swan boat, I try to get out as much as I can, but usually not as much as I like. =)
Anything particular you found issue with?
who is commenting on the boat? lol
what is your height?
185cm / 6' 2"
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 Thanks 🙏. I am like this boat too. But I am 2m.) Not sure that it comfortable to me.)
@@fantomax1446
I know your problem, I have tall friends.
Almost no boats I know of under 55 feet, are higher, I believe.
Most are 2m or 1.95
Part Time Crazy Boats I have 63 ft now, but it’s to much, because I sailing alone with my girl only.
Beds are already 2,05m+ but as all our boats are semi-custom build you are welcome to bring in your ideas and have it built after your requirements
point is anyone crossed a ocean in one of these ??? i mean atlantic / indian or even pacific ocean
Yes, I would also like to see some extended footage of such a trip
There have been an number of curcumin-navigations on older yachts even. Some Atlantic crossings. Recently a 40 DS was collected by the owners in Germany and sailed straight back to Vancouver via Canary islands, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Micronesia, Hawaii. A second one just arrived in Barbados. One is on its way to the Indian Ocean.

Suicide sink in the head. Those sinks are dumb on land but deadly underway on a sailboat.
Enjoy live!
Wouldn't trust it in heavy weather
Why?
Same question. Anything specific?
This was one of the sturdier boats - I believe 5cm of full laminate (not sandwhich) under the waterline and stuff like that.
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 short answer-100,000 miles
Long answer- like most modern yacht design too much has been taken from ocean racing.
Each to their own
Karl Wright , very well thought out, great answer
@@CaptMarkSVAlcina thank you
You really need to learn camera work. Your movements make me nauseated. Plus what's the fascinated with mirrors and looking at yourself?
You're right, have been contemplating a gimbal for some time now, but haven't found one that is suitable for me yet.
Moreover I'm not sure it would help in this specific case: Trying to keep a dozen randomly moving people out of frame is just... difficult.
It's not like I have the boat to myself.
Well, who doesn't like to look at oneself from time to time. =)
More importantly a mirror allows me to demonstrate the size of a room / provide a new viewing angle / talk to the camera for a change without having to turn the camera around. Win-win
I didn't think it was bad. Even the best of 40ft boats aren't that big to maneuver in.
I liked it. Besides, if I had his looks I'd be staring in the mirror all day :-)
Well hell; I wish I hadn’t watched this. My chosen boat will cost $75, 5his must be in the $150 to $250,k
I don't want to disappoint you, Dale, but one of our viewers got a quote from them.
It's in the 700K range, if I remember correctly.
😭
@@parttimecrazyboats5468 Why did you scare this man?)) This boat starts from 350K euro- isn`t cheap but no so expensive like you said for him!
@@dalethebelldiver7740 In fact, this boat start from 350K and there is a younger cheaper model 35 DS, which is slightly smaller, but not much different, except for the lack of a version with a 3rd aft cabin.

I thought the same things as you the first time I saw this boat. It’s great.
And the you would look awfully handsome in this boat!
*Question: Anymore know about the anchor @**0:59**? Is that just a way to store another anchor or does the anchor launch from there? Does rope need to be attached to the anchor or is it already attached but I just didn't see it?*
Btw, one year ago I commented on this video, and part of my comment mentioned how handsome our tour guide looks in this boat. So I guess I don't need to comment that again. Lol 😚 💋
This is an anchor stored in its slide and connected to 75m of lead filled rope leaded on an electric free-fall anchor winch inside the boat. Very useful in the Norwegian and Swedish archipelagos or everywhere where you are going to use the back anchor a lot
