After Japan, Germany has one of the oldest populations in the world, most young people live in bigger cities nowadays, I highly doubt the older generation in this sleepy town is aware of the anime sadly. But they would probably appreciate it! :)❤️
It's my hometown. The funniest thing was, that when the anime first came out tons of Japanese tourists in cosplay walked around and took pictures and all the old folks were really confused what was going on here 😂

There must be some connection between Germany and Japan that I just can't quite work out. if you're a fan of anime, seeing characters with German names, or speaking German, or German song, or the names of episodes in German is all pretty common, as well as seeing the architectural styles of the alps. I've seen other cultures reflected in Manga and Anime but possibly none more than I've seen references to Germany, and frankly I've no idea why. I see the two have a strong Bilateral relationship politically historically, so maybe that's part of explaining it.
