Well the reason we have some what normal looking titans in s1 is bc those are the only ones that are capable of reaching the wall as when we see even leaving the walls in the end of s3 we see a tian that can't move properly and is slowly getting buried in seson 2 we see some word ones as the beast titan creates them so we get to see the more weirdly and deformed titans.
