Cool: voluntarily living the caveman lifestyle, because your nation has had 70 years of unbroken peace, and your biggest challenge in life is being surrounded by food you love
NOT cool: involuntarily living the caveman lifestyle, because your nation's military has(once again) refused to recognize the election results, killing anyone who doesn't flee to the countryside

A very overlooked contributor to insulin resistance is CAFFEINE! I had been on Keto for awhile and was not seeing the results. I heard someone on U-tube talking about in certain people caffeine spikes cortisol which spikes insulin which causes insulin resistance =stored fat. I quit caffeine and saw an immediate result. I'm a 74 yr old female. In 146 days ha e lost 52 lb and over 26 Inches overall. I'm doing strict Keto and IF with one or two meals a day. I am doing weight and resistance band training daily and treadmill 3x week. QUITING CAFFEINE WAS A GAME CHANGER,

Very good information and motivation. At 74 I’m still try to go to the gym 3 to 4 days a week, and this information helps me not to beat myself up too bad for not doing lots of sets and reps with heavier weights and missing days. I’m trying to feed my children foods that aren’t harmful (seed oils, etc..), and it can be almost impossible to find products without them. I was vegetarian for 19 years and at the end near metabolic syndrome. I was at the reference point to have to be on insulin. I went keto and now mostly HFLC, my blood sugar is great now. My Dr was shocked, nobody turned that around that she'd seen before.

What a wonderful conversation with lots of insights. My personal understanding and practice correlates with the majority of what has been said here. I first learned about HIIT and increase of growth hormone as a result from Dr Mercola a few years ago. As for the cold water- it stimulates adrenal gland and you feel an increase of energy as a result of increased release of noradrenaline, so if done often it exhausts the adrenals and accelerates aging. The preparation for the ice-cold water is best done Whim Hoff style Imo. Also most keto advocates fail to defitrentiate complex and refined carbs from simple sugars in raw fruits, which DO NOT raise insulin level or do very little to that effect.

I wonder how long it takes for your body to heal from bad eating habits. I don’t have much to lose, 15 lbs and I’ve already lost 10. It took about a 5 weeks but I didn’t begin keto until 4 weeks into the decision to lose weight. 15 lbs to lose isn’t much weight but I felt horrible. As for exercise my muscles have been a problem since my late 40s now I’m 64, I just get tendinitis easily. I’m hoping I can overcome this problem because I loved to exercise when I was younger, but even then I could never exercise everyday, only every other day. I am improving but I’d like to do more. As for medicine I only take thyroid medication for hypothyroidism. My primary doctor gave me cholesterol medication but I don’t take it and my cholesterol is dropping. He gave me high blood pressure medication because I complained about hearing my heartbeat at night when I go to bed. I bought a blood pressure cuff and it does not go up, it was usually below 120/80 so I didn’t take it. On 8/10 My gynecologist told me if I lose ten pounds I’d feel better; when I went to my primary a little over a month later 9/25 I had dropped 10 lbs. I do feel better with 10 off.

I’m sure you can find her if you search UA-cam. I know you just started keto, but if you also incorporate time restricted feeding and a periodic extended fast (when you’re ready), growth hormone increases, and resistance training in a fasted state can really get the muscle growth.

As far as I have researched the only issue with alcohol is they your liver has to deal with it as soon as it enters your system as its a toxin so will stop processing fat while it works on getting ride of the alcohol which takes about 2 to 3 hrs plus when in ketosis you can't drink as much or you will get a hangover see Dr Dan Magson talks about alcohol on a keto low carb diet.

I just eat once a day and try not to think too much about what I’m eating. Sure, I’ll try to restrict my fried food and sweets, use mostly olive oil and not eat an excessive amount of carbs (difficult to do, since I eat once a day). That would mean cooking two (at least) separate meals at a time - mine, wife and daughter. Keep as healthy as you can but don’t go bananas and center the whole world around your diet.

    • @VoidedTea

I do it slightly differently, but probably with similar results. I just split all my “regular” meals in half, in other words I eat half of what I used to eat, plus don’t eat much after 6pm, especially simple sugars. This approach allows me to eat pretty much everything what we normally cook and not be hung up on calories. Paired with regular exercise, works well so far.

    It's fructose, and it's a fact.
Metabolic syndrome is a natural biological reaction to fructose consumption, and it has an beneficial effect. The effect is to help animals survive starvation.
In nature, all animals including humans need a way to survive food shortages, and we have evolved to a way to do that. Fructose consumption via fruits is an evolutionary way that animals gain weight to survive the winter, and gain weight when needed to hibernate and migrate.
Animals in nature have learned how to regulate their weight incredibly well in nature to survive and thrive, and they do this by eating fructose when needed to help them gain weight and go into a state of metabolic energy restriction which allows them to prepare for food shortages.
Fructose solves two problems in nature. Fructose allows fruit plants to spread it seeds somewhere else so another location, and it allows animals to gain weight and go into a slower metabolic state to survive times like winter without food.
In other words, fructose is nature's weight gaining chemical.
No doubt fructose has saved trillions of lives throughout the animal kingdom, and continues to do so.
The problem we humans have is that we have figured out how to eat fructose without limit, and this makes us gain weight, and get insulin resistance to prepare for a famine that is never going to come.
Dr Richard Johnson out of the University of Colorado explains this in his book The Fat Switch. You can also check out his UA-cam videos.

@Brad Gantt they are skinny fat. Vegans are spotted so easily. No muscle mass, unless they cheat eat meat, and most do, They may be able to perform for a while but must constantly refeed in any kind of athletics because they are burning through glucose causing other issues with oxidation. And they must supplement to stay functional. Even at that, they are not healthy no matter what you think. Veganism is stupidity. Its a starvation diet for sure. Some are able to live a long time on it but none thrive. None.
Im 65, strict carnivore. I can tell you MOST 20 year olds are not as healthy as me in todays world. Because they eat crap.
I would wrestle, fight, run, lift, compete in any event against any vegan my age. And I dont even train anymore. They are starving to death inside out.
Go ahead and try and defend veganism, I dont care, but to think its anything but holding off starvation is delusional.

One more question - why do people lose hair on keto? How can it be prevented or reversed? (I've never gotten a good answer. One person from one of these UA-cam Channels told me to eat more protein. I've probably never eaten this much protein in my life, so that's complete nonsense. I also take lots of supplements and eat a ton of non-starchy vegetables.

There's some other reason why hair falls out. I don't think anyone has been able to answer it.
My solution is to eat a fair amount of carbs 1-2x a week. This tells me that full-time keto may not be good for us. Something is going on there.

Yes you master the body but did you know God can take you anytime, healthy or unhealthy and preserve you either way to. Without God you are truly left upto randomness.
I am no of any religions , I only obey God as it was literally written. I have been transformed in so many ways.
I know God, I walk in covenant with God and I Love God. I fear God as well and that is the beginning of Love because until you fear disobeying God and causing God to look upon you in shame so you feel horrible then you can not love Him. I started this walk when I was 32, to look for God. I started to actually begin to find God when I was 39 and sealed myself to God as the gospel tells us to, those of us who listen to the gospel teacher and not the ones who came after him, know to take up the commandments of God and to seek out our roots back to Abraham and to Moses and Yehoshua and the prophets so we become firm in knowledge of what GOD ALONE asked of us. It took me several years of fighting sin and the devil by obeying God. I fought the sin out of me with God's help, by his instructions in the written word. It is a very narrow road and as the mattan/Matthew gospel says very few will find it. We have to fight Satan and the whole world that serves him in sin in order to get out and the one who will help is God alone because we can't trust anyone else. I am with God, God provides for myself and my family and yes there is absolutely evidence BUT not until you absolutely come clean, in thought, word and deed, the absolute opposite of all the lying religions. The gospel was sent down to free us from sin by sending us to our teacher and if you reject it then you are freed from God into sin perpetually and to death spiritually from God which as I can now see is absolutely hell on earth, your light you pretend to have is absolutely darkness caused by your unwillingness to even try to obey God. I speak to 99% of the population. If you can't put everyone first after God and stop yourself from all sin THEN YOUR NOT WORTHY AND YOU ARE ALREADY FINISHED BEFORE YOU EVEN STARTED.
So come out of all sun, take up the commandments and begin your battle, call to GOD ALONE, LEARN YOUR ROOTS, BE GOD'S PEOPLE. FIGHT SATAN WHO IS THE SINNERS INNER VOICE, THE CONSCIENCE THAT LEADS YOU TO HURT YOU, that's not you, it's Satan the deceiver. If you come to God and pass the trials cleansing yourself by obedience then GOD WILL BECOME YOUR CONSCIENCE AND YOU WILL LOVE GOD AND HATE SIN, SATAN WILL FLEE FROM YOU.
    SO there it is.
Peace, the ball in in your court
Be wary of this world, it is the valley of death, you need God's light and God doesn't dwell with sin or sinners. Not until they begin the journey to stop sin.
    😀😉

I have been pushing myself hard in the gym and doing 2 hr workouts and cardio and kungfu and yoga and trying to fit in all these workouts along side lifting heavy and regular work and recently I gave myself permission to do 30 minute workouts and be done and move on with my day. Working out started to feel like torcher some days and my body just hurt and I struggled to keep up that pace plus also trying to work threw injuries. I had to give my body permission to be ok with not overdoing it in the gym. So many fitness people make it seem like you have to work crazy hard to be strong and fit but then they say that abs are built in the kitchen. That diet is 80% of weightloss. But if that is the case why are people being pushed to kill themselves with hard workouts. I’m focusing on my diet and giving myself permission to rest and hoping that having less stress on my body will allow it to change in a less stressful and painful manner.
