    The aluminum jaws are soft jaws. You install them in place of the removable jaws like on your 3 jaw. You install them and turn them to a specific ID or OD or for odd non round shapes. You obviously need 1 more for the 3 jaw but they can be used on a 2 jaw as well

    Great rundown of the stuff that came with the machine. Would love to see the machine itself.
    I have a Colchester 6“ fixed steady and discovered your video while trying to figure out where this must fit. I know yours is not the Clausing Colchester model but it was still a good watch. Always nice to get a good find and even at the high price it was a good find.

    Did you ever figure out the lever collet closer? I have the same one but I am missing all the sleeves on the chuck side. Do you have a video or description of the parts needed?

      Yes, I set up the collect closer and use it pretty often. On the chuck side, you need a spindle protector, threads on just like an LOO chuck, and a spindle adaptor to go from the 4.5MT spindle to accept the 5C collets

      @@NorthWestAirgun thank you

      @@NorthWestAirgun actually one more question, does the spindle protector hold in the 5c adapter or is just there to protect the taper?

    • @NorthWestAirgun
      @NorthWestAirgun  3 роки тому +1

      @@brandontscheschlog No, the 5c adapter is held in by it's taper in the spindle, then by tightening the collet in it. The protector keeps the threads from getting buggered up if things go sideways on you, maybe can be used to force the adapter out if constructed for that, when you unscrew it from the LOO spindle

      @@NorthWestAirgun thank you. I wound up buying a complete setup because I found out mine was missing more parts and to acquire them individually would’ve cost more than I can buy a complete used set up. It’s identical to yours. Hopefully the bearing is still good. If not I found one for 120 bucks.

    That was a great find Jonathan ! I would guess that went for $2500.00-$3500.00 price range. I have been looking myself and would have been very happy to find it.

      Hi Ron, I paid $3500 for it, which is fair but not much of a deal. It was hard for me since I've never paid more than about 1/3 that much for a lathe. Of course, this one isn't a worn out POS (the Logan 11" isn't either). And figuring all the hours I've spent searching for a lathe, at minimum wage I could have afforded to get one new!! No more searching for me. I think the Clausing convenience, and amenities will make it faster and easier to get work done too. It should be my lathe for the rest of my machining life.
      Keep looking, you'll find your lathe eventually. Let me know if you find a spare Clausing steady rest or taper attachment, cheap.. These are luxuries for metal mangler like me, but I like luxury.

    John, The Tubular Micrometer Co. later became Scherr-Tumico. The frame is a tubular fabrication. Nice mics... I might have an extra standard if I knew what size it is. Nice haul on the lathe and all the accessories...

      Interesting, Bob, Scherr-Tumico is a pretty good name. I was assuming that Tubular was a short lived oddball maker, glad to learn its a real tool instead of a gadget. It's super light for it's size, must be the tubular aspect. I'll see which standard I'm missing and let you know, thanks..

      John, I own a full set of 5 Tubular Micrometer mics. They are hollow, making them very light and a pleasure to use. Nice score!
