The rest of the department is just as embarrassing. You had might as well be pointing out a fat nazi SS officer and asking “how embarrassing to the rest of the SS, how is a person this fat able to be an SS officer...”.
Exactly and it begs the question that if this department will allow a person in his "physical condition" to work for them, it makes you wonder what they're willing to overlook about an officers MENTAL CONDITION as well since all cops have to "pass" psychological evaluation. Things that make you go Hmmmmmm 🤔
Mall cops are a joke. 🤣🤣 When I was 19 I was dating a girl who worked at a clothing shop at the mall. I was approached by a mall cop who she turned down for a date. He told me that he was going to charge me with trespassing and stalking. I told him I would leave and instead went to the mall office to explain it to the mall management. They fired the mall cop because I was not the first one to complain about him kicking teens out of the mall. I also showed them my receipt for stuff I had bought that day so they wouldn't think I was loitering either. Manager was cool, apologetic and even gave me some meal vouchers. Best thing to have done was call management and complained about the security.
I can understand the auditors anger but he`s gone in there angry and confronted the wrong person...like you he should have talked to the mall manager/security office the first chance he had and lodged a complaint ...
You did the right thing. This is why we have laws and rights. A cop once told me to "leave his county" because he had something to do with my married niece... He was stripped of his badge within 3 hours.
Yeah, the fact that police officers are allowed to legally lie to someone in order to obtain information has always rubbed me the wrong way. I learned about this in a few criminal justice courses in college, and thankfully, the professors also shared how to counter some of these tactics.

Mr. Family could’ve made his own life simpler by just asking the guard’s name and leaving to call the property owner/manager. Confronting the guard wasn’t very likely to go any better than it did, and could’ve gone MUCH worse. I’m glad he is standing up for himself, and that a trespass was the only bad thing that happened to him. I just wish more folks, including ME, would get better at asking themselves “what outcome do I want from this and can I get my desired results in a better way?” My own life would’ve been easier if I was better at that, and I suspect the same is true for most people.
The auditor seems like a bit of an arsehole in this one, I don’t think the security “kicked the kid and mum out for no reason and yelled at them”. He’s definitely missing context, they where probably arseholes and he just made the situation way worse, should have contacted management, security can trespass you for doing anything other than being a poc, religion ect ect…
Yes, this is a stretch to give Mr Family a B for his handling of this. He should have never sought out the mall cop. He should have addressed the mall administrator and been professional.
He did it all wrong. Starting a second confrontation isn't going to go well. Much better to contact mall management and explain. Who knows.... That might have been a pattern with this guard and the mall might have gotten the police involved on your behalf.
@michman2 I totally agree with you. Also, we do not know what his wife did or said that got her and the kids kicked out. There is more to the story, guaranteed!
You've gotta stop making so much sense. You're getting in the way of hypocrisy on the part of law enforcement. And if there's anything law enforcement loves more than qualified immunity, it's hypocrisy.
In my opinion, a police officer shouldn't be able to benefit from qualified immunity if: a) They previously benefited from qualified immunity regarding a similar matter b) The violated law was part of basic police training Also, common law issues should be part of basic police training. But maybe that is already how it works. I am not knowledgeable in this.

Without video it would be very difficult to get any sort of resolution. No one knows what happened with the kids, but I have seen lots of times when a store, museum, or even a church should trespass a family for unwillingness to control their children. Property can be damaged and individuals can be injured (for example crawling around on statues or fountains). Shouting should never be done by guards though. That just amps up the interaction. First tell the children and then attempt to inform the parents if they can be found (which sometimes is an issue). Some actions can be so ridiculous as to lead to an immediate trespass.
Or the mall manager since they are contractors. The camera guy comes off as pretentious prick. The security guy is 'just a mall cop" but he's also empowered by the owners to trespass people off the property, it's his job so belittling him for his job (not his actions) is pretty low. Security people don't just appear from no where for no reason, they're hired and paid to do a job. In any case a couple of numbnuts give us all some entertainment. Had a problem in a shopping mall once. Having tried following another customer, the security did a full about-turn and stepped straight into me. Instead of a simple apology for his negligent actions, the security guard tried blaming me then (when I politely remonstrated) started to claim I was causing trouble.! That’s because Mr. Family’s family was clearly in the wrong, otherwise there would be some sort of defense of them. All this was about security yelling at them, not defending THEIR actions. It’s plain as day they deserved to be kicked out.
I definitely agree with that, but why wouldn’t the security guard mention the reason for why he kicked them out? I feel like it would give him an advantage to say why he kicked them out unless it was for no reason.

I grew up a couple of miles from that mall. None of this surprises me. We need some mechanism to compel law enforcement officers to at least know the laws they're enforcing. Almost all policing is bluff, bluster, intimidation and coercion under the color of law. Deputy Nance is sympathetic to the mall cop because he's one myocardial infarction away from being a mall cop... and the mall cop is probably his cousin.
that is fully unrealistic. people expect police to be everything. to be doctors. lawyers. counselors. the only place that needs to know the law are the courts. they know the basics and that is enough. also it generally isn't an issue to provide your ID. and if he arrests you because you don't show it that is a lawsuit
@@mayainverse9429 I really hope you don't take that attitude with your own job. Knowing the rules is their JOB! This guy got but hurt cause his family was acting a fool in a movie and we’re asked to leave when they refused they were asked more firmly. The husband harassed security and was asked to leave he refused. Police were called and he was trespassed. I'm not sure that going up and acting belligerent to a private security guard on private property should be acceptable behavior. It's unclear why his wife was trespassed outside of the security guard claiming they were apparently disruptive. This is a legitimate reason for a private property owner and their staff to ask anyone to leave whether or not someone agrees with the method on which they were communicated with. This is a perfect example on how to not behave like a responsible adult and seek conflict resolution.
Considering the security guards attitude and willingness to call the cops when things escalate I am more inclined to believe he had reason to kick them out and the OP is just a Karen. Being Trespassed is essentially more of a civil matter until you refuse to leave or return afterward. It was even said in the video.
The cop seemed pretty calm to me. His first words were, "First of all drop the attitude", then there's a small cut in the video followed by, "..because he wants you trespassed". Pretty straightforward request. He certainly didn't initiate the encounter with a hostile demeanor, as ATA claimed. And since Family Guy elected to edit the video at that point I can only speculate that this was because the unedited video wouldn't quite fit his agenda.

This cameraman went about this situation the wrong way. (I'm hesitant to even take his side because for all we know his kids and wife could have been acting out. Ask any service worker and they will tell you it happens all the time). If he had an issue he should've gone to management not confronted the guy who he thinks is a power tripper. What did he expect? The guy to suddenly apologize and act like he was right? Everything the security guard did seemed pretty reasonable (especially if the wife and kids were indeed misbehaving). If some lunatic with an attitude comes out recording me and threatening me about how I treated his wife and kids, I'm calling the cops and trespassing him too. Notice how ATA didn't even give the security guard a grade. It's because even he knows the guy acted pretty reasonably.
yeah, but the security guard said I can kick you out for any reason that's not so. he should have said disturbing the peace. the guy was out of the store, so he wasn't trespassing. he can sue the store and the police department but if he had the RC it will be a sure win.
@@Trip_Ts he can kick them out for any reason (barring discrimination, which doesn't seem to be alleged here). He's a rep of the mall and he doesn't need to justify his reasons legally. This is why it should brought to the manager if he disagrees, because while he can legally kick them out as a rep, his bosses might not be happy about it. The fact that it's not in the store is irrelevant since the mall owns the parking lot.

Mr. Family could’ve made his own life simpler by just asking the guard’s name and leaving to call the property owner/manager. I’m glad he is standing up for himself, and that a trespass was the only bad thing that happened to him. To be fair, your job isn't "law enforcement" or protecting the public. I do agree that officers should have far more legal training.
In my opinion, a police officer shouldn't be able to benefit from qualified immunity if:
a) They previously benefited from qualified immunity regarding a similar matter
b) The violated law was part of basic police training
Also, common law issues should be part of basic police training.

He shouldn’t have confronted him. He should have gone to his manager.
As far I am aware of, security can trespass anyone that is not for discrimination. Although citizens are protected from being criminalized from majority of free speech, but that do not mean anybody can walk onto a private business and make other patrons & employees uncomfortable, that would include mouthing off to or in front of patrons & employees and failing to control their kids.
Hope these 'cops' never have to run down an actual criminal !
Dad walks in the house...well...im grounded from the mall now...

Deputy Nance get's an A+ for never missing a meal. I ain't lying!
Mr BEER BELLY 😄
Arresting people for whatever reason, and expecting the courts to figure it out, is insane. Further it'll cost the city in lawsuits, and could cost lives if someone resists being arrested for unjust causes.
So, you want your local mall to turn into a hellhole? How do you know this guy and his family weren't acting like animals inside the mall prior to his complaining to the security guy on camera? Notice how ZERO camera footage is provided during the supposed incident itself. Why would that be? I'm sure at a minimum him and his wife both have cell phones. Kids probably did too. And why does this guy get the benefit of the doubt? Because he's black and the security guy is a white southern male?
@@mayainverse9429
Expecting cops to know the law before enforcing it is hardly unrealistic.
But also the accusations the cop was sympathetic isn't realistic. The guy had every right to have the guy trespassed, and the cop knew it.
This attitude is what causes issues. The police are fully trained in the laws they are defending they have full power to arrest and let the DA and judge sort it out. This guy got but hurt cause his family was acting a fool in a movie and we’re asked to leave when they refused they were asked more firmly. The husband harassed security and was asked to leave he refused. Police were called and he was trespassed. Refusing to leave private property in most states is trespassing witch is a crime therefore ID can and will be requested. Security could ask to hold for police and for there report. If he refuses fine police will get it and they can get the info off the report number once filed. We trespass people all the time swimming in pools living behind dumpsters etc
I’m always amazed at how often this happens.
There are ways to handle conflicts. What “Mr. Family” did at the start of the video was 100% the wrong way to handle the situation.
He obviously wasn’t there when the situation occurred, yet he talks like he was right there any saw what happened and is extremely rude to the security guard from the beginning.
Edit: the way that he described what happened to the cop is way different from what we saw actually happened. He made it seem like he was all friendly towards the security guard when he approached.
Something tells me it’s probably a pattern his wife did too when she told him. She likely downplayed her part in what happened to be kicked out.
I got the same feeling there is more going on here than they’re letting on
This is the only intelligent comment on here. There’s definitely more to this.
Exactly. He basically went over to the security and straight up said his kids didnt do ANYTHING wrong. He wasnt there. I've seen what dumb little cunts can do when theyre not under supervision by their parents.
100% agree ... plus it seems to be missed that the officer can ask for ID on a trespass as Mr whoever can't dispute trespass as he is actually video recording on private property which may have a no video recording policy while on the property other than security or police recordings ....
@@DaveMayfield We are getting a second hand story from the husband who got an abriged version from his wife who likely adjusted the story to her benefit. A bad security squad at a nearby mall actually would be very aggressive with moving cars dropping people off, as the Mall started closing the security is still as aggressive with very little traffic. I am gonna say that security had a negative impact on the experience of that mall, the malls that are still open the security at those malls I notice are very friendly, even though they have high traffic.
I’ve had similar experience with security however, in this case, I watched the actual video and the police officer revealed the reason the security guard kicked them out of the mall Bc the 3 children were on a ride that was not meant for that many and the wife continued yelling at him about the stupid rule so he asked them all to leave.
A lot of people who couldn’t become cops go into security.
1 thing I learn from these videos is: You gotta have good communication skills. When the time comes to state your side of the story, you've got one shot to get it right.

As someone from the Netherlands, I can tell you that I really would be afraid to get in an interaction with a cop in your country. The whole Judge and policing system needs a lot of work. The American People have lost sight of the fact that the police/LEOs in this country have sadly "sold out" their honor as "Public Servants" to the aptly named "CRIMINAL Justice System" that profits from civil asset seizures & putting warm bodies in jail or at least milking them for money in the process! There is NO reasonable expectation of a totally innocent person in America today to walk into court an innocent person, & then walk out of there a free person without being deprived of a LOT of money for their defense! And they (LEOs) use the People's money (taxes) against them & risk NO personal loss of money unless "extreme negligence" is proven (which is next to impossible). Lex malla, lex nulla!"

A lot of those shows you see on TV are written, edited, and produced by bleeding hearts pushing an agenda. They hate all police and do everything they can to protect criminals.
Anyone married to this guy would have to be an ignorant twat. Seems clear to me that is why she was kicked out.
Considering the security guards attitude and willingness to call the cops when things escalate I am more inclined to believe he had reason to kick them out and the OP is just a Karen. I would find it unlikely he's just kicking out random mall goers and a simple explanation of his being able to kick out anyone for nearly any reason is likely just to try to end the situation entirely but it didn't work. I'd like to see the video of his wife and kids to know if they were actually causing an issue inside the mall. I wouldn't really say this is a mall cop power trip like others.
