@Welvas Don't you think the Interior Dept should be handling this issue? This seems like a regional issue, yet you ask about 1 local political party. Why? (After all, there's a democrat in the WH)
There is no one left who knows how to build and repair water treatment facilities. A year after my husband retired and they are still calling him asking how to fix or install this or that. Many of the companies that used to build them all over the country could not find anyone trained to work on the equipment so they just closed up shop.
Oh sure. But when everyone decides to focus on the water issues, you'll then say "but I don't want to pay the taxes". Don't complain over what you refuse to contribute.
This is why the infrastructure bill that President Biden pushed is so important. It's not only about updating our aging infrastructure, it's also about creating good jobs, good oportunities and on-the-job training. The water in St. Tammany is not only discolored, it's oftentimes so contaminated that it makes you physically ill. This has been going on for at least 8 years. The city of Covington didn't even bother to tell the residents for months after the contamination was detected. Everyone thought that a very bad stomach virus was going around and kept coming back. What do you do when you have a stomach bug? You drink more water to keep from getting dehydrated. This was happening with the water looking totally clear and clean. I see the City hasn't changed anything other than to issue boil water alerts.
