Cuarentena for me was just about taking it easy on myself and giving my body time to heal, nothing as strict as our mothers did back in the day, but I definitely tried to keep baby healthy and germ free and fed.

I’m pretty strict with my cuarentena, I don’t go out y me pongo faja the whole time because it helps everything inside and out go back to normal. And let me tell you my stomach is flat and nice. Also, I breast fed both my kids for over a year both of them so the cuarentena I feel like it helps with milk supply 😅! I think you should listen to your mom lol

I don't do Mexican traditions..however taking time to heal rest, and really just bonding with you baby is always recommended. You and your very supportive husband have been through a lot the last 2 years..you both really need this. Most people have to work in jobs where there's no maternity leave for mom and dad so can't afford to lose work. Others may not have a supportive family to help so that may be why not many do this tradition. You two are blessed with the support of each other and your families and that's all that matters. Take your time..enjoy the moments with your new baby and best of all make lots of new memories....

Definitely schedule a lactation appointment at your hospital. Breastfeeding is hard! And can be painful if he's not latching properly. I combo fed my daughter for over a year. But my #1 tip for combo feeding is to mimic the flow of your breast when bottle feeding. The nipple on the bottle must be the slowest flow the brand makes, and feed him in an upright position, not laying down. It will get better!

None of the women in my family(both sides- dads and moms) have done a cuarentena. And I’m sure I got out in the wind and my milk supply was great. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s all about what you feel is right. I love that we can all be Mexicanas and still be unique in how we do motherhood. Respect! ❤ So happy for you!

The mommy milk last 4-6 hrs sitting out after pumped 6-7 days in the fridge and 6 months in the freezer!!!! I just had my baby girl 21 days ago via C-section!!! Baby Noah is adorable!!!!

    • @Ella_Salinas
      @Ella_Salinas Рік тому +17

Wrong freshly expressed breast milk is only good sitting out for up to 4 hrs , within the 4 hrs it needs to be either fed to the baby or put in the fridge/ freezer . Once it’s in the fridge it’s good for 4 days, within those 4 days it needs to either be fed to baby or put in freezer , once milk is in the freezer it’s good for 6 months (normal freezer) or 12 month in a deep freezer. This is going off cdc guidelines , hope this helps (:

I believe on the cuarentena because my mom use to say that right now we might not feel anything because we are young but when we get old that’s when we will feel everything, but sometimes it’s hard to follow it when we have our babies in the niccu and we have to go to the hospital every day. I would put jackets and cover my ears or use beanies but it was hard in so many ways. You guys are doing great Mayra congratulations again 🥰

A home cooked meal after recovery is the best but sometimes gets tiring. I didn't follow my 40 days after giving birth to my daughter because I was busy going to appointments and I had COVID after a month. It was the worst and on top of that I had the baby blues. Everyone is different, but you are doing great and enjoy the newborn stage with your baby boy and husband it goes by fast 🥺

Quarentena for mi is basically no sex and taking it easy in not doing anything heavy cause of recovery c-section or vaginal, but i never put on any hats, ear plugs, or any of that. I feel like its just what ppl back in the days believed but not scientifically confirmed. You do have to watch it on what you eat after birth cause you will gain weight rapidly, some women would say they dont but its just their good genes 😂

    To produce more milk 🥛(•)(•)
Do this no joke(unless you’re allergic to it)
Toast on a non stick pan with nothing other that sesame seeds until brownish color or they start jumping… then put it in the blender with the amount of sugar desired until powdered, then add the milk of your preference. One bag of sesame seeds makes a gallon of this mixture with milk, lasts in the fridge 7days and you can drink it as often as you like…. You’ll be supplying milk like crazy!!! And it tastes amazing kinda like peanutty like. Anyone can drink it also but this helps lactating mommas alooooootttt No Joke!

If you or anyone ever needs help with breastfeeding, there is a resource called La Leche League that helps women with nursing their babies. I had help from the hospital with our first baby....oooo girl it was rough. I had to give him formula because he had latching issues. I was engorged and became infected it was awful. Anyway we got through it and he is a healthy teen now. You're doing great both of you.

I come from a very Mexican family and my grandma was a midwife. Therefore my mom was strict with her cuarentena for all 5 of her births.
When I had my babe in Sept 2021 she kept telling me to cover up and to cover my baby but I could not in this Texas heat for fear that she or I would overheat.
If we’re hot, baby is hot.
I am not traditional at all so I did not do cuarentena. I am still successfully breastfeeding 20 months later.
I do like learning about those traditions but I do not personally believe them to be true.
I feel that as long as it’s something that’s worth doing for yourself, then no harm in following those traditions 🫶🏼
Also, I had a lot of trouble with latching at first too. We did away with pacifier and nipple shields and she was able to latch after a few feeds.
My friend swears that putting formula on her nipple saved her breastfeeding journey , might be worth the shot for you!!
Anyways, congratulations to both of you and thank you for sharing so much with us♥️

As a nurse best thing for feet swelling is keep them elevated, avoid anything with sodium, and definitely avoid ALL soda. Also try soaking your legs in Epson salt . I was a walking dead woman from fluid building up during covid. Thanks to my old pcp ignoring my demands for an ultrasound on my legs it damaged my right main heart valve and it also made the right side of my heart enlarge. So please sweetie if you continue to swell go to the ER or urgent care. You and Bryan have been through hell and back, I hate to see something to happen to you. Our youngest was borderline jaundice I would put her in the bassinet and let the sun hit her, of course with the blinds closed. Be safe and have a wonderful week love you guys God Bless 💜 💙 💙💙

Omg on the cuarentena,, I think it should be followed Toma certain extent as a form of respect and appreciation for your body and your baby. It should be a time of nourishment and bonding. I see women with c sections (aka full big surgeries) strap on high hills and go out party literally not even 2 weeks after giving birth,, sometimes WITH the baby and I just can't. Recently i saw an old friend that went on an actual trip, kids and all, to the beach like 10 days after her c section. I mean to each their own but I could never

I do have myself covered up and warm. I wear long sleeves after all my babies and sweats or long pants. Stock up on socks. I do feel like if I keep myself cold my bones ache more and that’s one of the things they say.

Girrlll you giving me anxiety just watching you clean and do all these movements 😂
Our cuarentena is so different ours is so strict
Once u leaving the hospital you have to cover up head to toe and be wheeled out no walking out or carrying anything with you! Once we arrive to the house you lay on the couch fajada and drink all warm stuff and eat Caldos you can’t carry baby standing only sitting and laying down you have to lay down all day only sit for a little bit don’t ask why disen Que it’s bad for you 😂 Mexicans I tell tou 😅
Anyways you can’t get baby out the bassinet or change baby standing bending over bcz it’s bad so u have to sit and change baby no bending no walking around no doing chores no cooking no getting close to the stove no going out unless u going to appts you can’t go outside no walking anywhere unless ur going to the bathroom 😂😂
Cover ears keep socks on at all times
No cold drinks and putting pomadas on ur back and stomach every night for the first 3 weeks at the 4 week u can walk around and stuff but not too much
It’s crazy how different everyone’s cuarentena is you doing good girl congrats again on baby Noah ❤❤❤❤❤

Honestly as a mexican myself I think the cuarentena is BS. My mom had to do everything after I was born because my dad had to work and she was alone with her first born and she was ok and she breastfed me no pumping, no bottle feed, no formula. My aunt had a c-section and was literally driving 2 days out of the hospital everywhere. My uncles baby momma had 3 c-sections, and my grandma was a b to her and she was fine too The only one who did the cuarentena and got everything done for her was my dad's youngest sister and that's only because she gets babied because she is obviously her favorite.

My 2nd C-section i definitely felt more than my 1st. I was suprised because my 1st was twins so i thought that would have been worse. But my 2nd was 7 years apart so maybe thats why?

All my family does cuarentena, you don't go outside, put cotton balls in your ears, te fajas the whole time during cuarentena. Your not supposed to let air hit you because later on when you get older you will have back sharp pain. Te fajas so your bones go back to how they used to be if not you will have major low back pain. You watch what you eat no carne nor eggs usually just caldos and sopa de fideos. Its super sticked i have 3 kids myself and did the cuarentena. Time flies by i dont know why people say its so hard. Its just taking care of yourself since it went through a drastic change because you may not feel it right now or five years from now but when you get old all your body will hurt and you will have all the enfermedades in the world.

We’re Mexican but no one in my family does a quarentena. Honestly I run hot so I wouldn’t be able to always be fully covered 😅 but I wish I had help the way you do with your mom and suegra.

I’m Hmong. In my culture the mother and baby stays home for a whole month, the mother is on a boiled chicken and rice diet the whole time, we cannot enter anyone’s home until the month is over,if we go out to the grocery store or walks etc we have to be covered up especially our head and face area. Nowadays the “chicken diet” has been substituted by pork or beef as well. As long as it’s cooked clean with no grease. Some mothers don’t follow the diet period lol. The list goes on but those are just a few important things. 😁

Cuarentena to me was more resting and not being out similar to you unless it’s important mostly because there is a pan size wound inside even if you feel fine you are still healing ❤️‍🩹 oh and wearing a faja!!!

Why didn’t you latch him the whole time at the hospital? If you want to continue breastfeeding concentrate on strictly breastfeeding. He will reject your boob if you continue this way so early on.

Breast feeding can be challenging. Make an appointment with a lactation specialist as soon as possible. It was so painful to pump and hard to get my son to latch. Turned out he was tongue tied and the nipple cup on my pump was the wrong size for me and way to small and leaving my skin raw, irritated and not allowing the pump to get out all of my milk. The specialist helped me get the right nipple cup size for me, to pump every 2 hours, how to massage your breast while pumping to release all the milk and some exercises to do with my son to fix his tongue tied issues.

Now that he is bigger & stronger he is doing so much better! Now he won’t take the bottles 🥲 haha don’t get discouraged, don’t give up. Just be patient on yourself you guys are both learning💕

Girl that’s not the right way to buckle the baby. You want to make sure that it’s snug on the baby if you can pinch the belt it’s still loose. Try and consult with a pediatrician and they can show you how. If the baby is to loose he can get hurt during an accident. But keep up the good work he is adorable ❤
