I can’t believe we’re getting natural hair content from Jackie. ❤❤❤. I’m here for it.
No wonder you hair always looks so healthy, it’s the steam!! Whenever I get a steam treatment, my hair feels extremely hydrated, so happy you’re talking about because it really is major for maintaining moisture
I definitely blow out my hair. I don’t want nobody combing through my hair. The prep before the style is really key!
This is perfect timing because I’m about to do a protective style Friday!!
Enjoy!!
I learned years ago not to grease or oil my scalp. My hair grows more when my scalp is free from product and as someone whose hair gets thicker before longer and keeps braids frequently … I understand your take.
Same like I have a low porosity hair so oils for me to sit on top of the hair so I don’t really put oils on my scalp ever unless it’s a protective style then I’ll put jojoba oil because I have learned, that it mimics the sebum and I only ever but oil on my end hair that how thrives 😂
I've gone back to greasing my scalp. My scalp was dry and I have dandruff. Whatever works for you though
@@EsiriE me too! I didn't grease my scalp for years and my hair grew brittle and weak. Now that I grease my scalp 1-2x week, my hair is sooooo thick and growing longer! I love it and glad I'm listening to my hair.
@@magdalaone right! happy it’s working for you ! 😊
I have a pre-prep for my protective styling too and when I share with people, they always say that I’m doing a bit much, cause I’m just putting my hair away. However the level of self-care is healing for me and on top of that the amount of growth I’ve seen since starting this process a few years ago ,magnificent!
That’s it!!! I need 6 straight backs ASAP!😤. Love you Jackie💛
lol I’m getting mine done again tonight!
Yessssss. Melanin haircare is BOMB
Girl, not putting product in the hair before a protective style is blasphemy, lol. Loved this video. 💜
Exactly . The hair be dry af when you take it out lol . Absolutely not !
Exactly!!!
I truly CANNOT do that
Well… she did go to cosmetology school so I’m sure she knows what she’s talking about but it’s a scary thought not doing that lmao
Lol i think she’s good it seems like she only leaves her protective styles in for 2-3 weeks based on her content. But also she didn’t say she doesn’t put product in after the styling.
I have been natural my whole life, and I was mind blown when the age of UA-cam suggested I don’t blow dry my hair😂😂. I love the way you care for your hair Jackie and your stylist is 🔥🔥
I also have very delicate, fine, yet super tight curls. i battled back and forth using oil in my hair but now i definitely stand by it. you’re correct it definitely keeps things from getting in so what i do is my deep condition, wash, moisturizer, THEN oil to hold it in because my hair gets dry very quickly. after a couple days when i notice my hairs drying again i spray my hair with water mixed with some conditioner. i’ve been doing this for about a year. it’s worked well for me for keeping my hair hydrated but as for the scalp, i wonder if it’s stunting growth
My daughters hair is closer to your hair type/texture while mine is more 3C. I watched this before detangling her hair and I feel like I learned more about hers and moisture/protection! Thank you for this ❤️
Thenk yew!😭👏🏾 I've been natural for 7 years and I'm still struggling finding the right products and protective styles. Two months ago i really messed up and got lazy, had my hair in jumbo twists, held off on wash day for an extra week, no oil, no bonnet. Just like that 2 inches of growth that was earned had to be chopped awf! But.. health over length.🤷🏾♀️
I feel you, I regret going blonde my hair because getting lazy with bleached hair has even worse effects. For finding the right products you gotta try what works for you, grease and butters do work wonders despite the 'curly hair rules'
@@NanaNaima1 Aww we gon get our hair back on track sis!💖 And definitely, grease is a must for me lol i tried listening to the natural hair girlies on twitter about not using oil/ grease and had the worst shedding of my life. 💀
Natural hair is so beautiful. Super glad to be a natural hair creator and your hair is gorgeous Jackie
Perfect timing for me, too! I came just to learn how you style your natural hair, which I love to see as well as your protective styles! 💆🏾♀️
I have very thick, low porosity hair so wash days are such a chore but I love how you make yours more like self-care and relaxing! I definitely need to try that steam method.
My hairstylist also says wash, no product and to blow dry before arrival
I do blow dry for the protective styles. High heat isn't needed just to dry the hair without drying out the hair. Proper detangling in a must though so the braider can work smoothly without pulling.
Not the “everybody’s so creative” insert lol Jackie’s editing is always on point!
I blowout my hair with a RevAir. I always feel so soggy after a shower, I just steam my hair with a steamer. Love the feeling of getting my hair braided too. Thanks for posting ❤
I’m with you Jackie, I don’t like oil based products in the my hair either unless I can wash it out the next day. Most oils act like a plug, which prevents the hair from absorbing moisture. Plus it makes my hair feel/look greasy and heavy. I only oil my scalp 30-60min before I wash it. I will sometimes oil my scalp 2-3 days leading up to a wash but on a daily I try to stay away from products with oil in it.
I LOVE doing a pre poo! Its usually the time when i sit and really detangle my hair. I think section my hair and put them into twists and _keep_ the twists in all throughout the washing process. My hair tangles easily and doing this prevents me from constantly detangling. I stopped using coconut oil and switched to Caster oil on the scalp and jojoba oil on the hair and it has worked out well. The mielle hair oil has also helped A LOT with some hair loss that I've been experiencing. And lastly, i always blow dry my hair! I find that the stylist has an easier, fast time parting and braiding. Great video as always Jackie!!
Your hair is Gorg 😍. And I so agree with you, making sure your scalp is healthy is the best way to make sure your hair stays healthy ❗Luv the video great tips
12:02 it depends. Sometimes I blow dry other times I just stretch. It’s important that my roots aren’t super curly. That’s my goal
This convinced me to take my protective twists out and have a wash day lol 😂
The putting on conditioner before shampoo is a good idea, I am gonna try it for my next wash , thank you ❤
Your makeup is🤌🏾🤌🏾😍😍 mwahhh chef's kiss🥰🥰
That lip combo is perfection!!
My pre-protective style differs only in that I don't do any protein treatments as my hair is extremely protein sensitive. And after rinsing out the deep conditioner I again detangle and section, use a microfiber towel or t-shirt to dry as much as possible and then put in twists for a few hours. Once it's mostly dry I then use the tension method to dry the rest with my handheld.
Hi Jackie! You’re natural hair is so healthy, I love seeing your curls and nice protective hairstyle as well. Would you mind doing a review of the rev-air blow dryer? I trust your reviews.
Your makeup looks so good, especially in the second clip.
Personally, most always I blow out my hair before I get it braided just because I have thick hair. Also helps ensure less breakage and tangles when both getting my hair done and the take down
Love you! This video is so educational for black hair types. This clears up why my hair not growing !
SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU BACK!!
I have what they call 4C HAIR , and your hair looks like mine and I know what you talking about, my hair grows very fast in a protective style too ,
I love watching your channel
Jackie I love how stitch braids look on you🫶🏿
Girl your curls look HEALTHYYYY!!!!
Blessings All~This was interesting and all of us. Only thought it was I whose eyes are closed the while managing hair inside the shower. I also can attest to the Fable & Mane Holiroots Oil. I was reluctant because I’d yet to see any POC review. Now I’m so happy with the difference I’ve personally seen.
I don't long term protective style as I am relaxed but I do wrap it every night and put it in a tucked bun if I am not styling it. I do not blow dry my hair, ever and I always end wash day with a leave-in conditioner to keep the moisture going. Those braids look great on you, reminds me of summer vacation in Barbados!
The best wide tooth comb is from PATTERN. Love that you’re using it in this vid. My fav!
i love thisss i've been wanting to learn how to cleanse and retwist dreads so I can give my boyfriend a lil spa moment 😊
Love the new intro. I wash my hair the night before so the products soak in so they can't tell but the hairstylist i go to now will wash my hair before braiding so i dont have to. Since I do my hair night before I don't blow dry but if I do the morning of then I will blow dry. I actually use a pre-shampoo now a conditioner as a preshampoo and I use the brigeo charcoal scalp cleanser and then go to a shampoo.
I love when you show us washing and maintaining your hair! Its such a comfort in watchinf this! 😊
LOVING the natural hair content✨
That make up look! *Chef’s kiss* I like to blow dry my hair before braids. I feel like they last longer
I kind of agree about oils in the hair. Certain oils do not penetrate the hair shaft and can coat the hair like mineral oil which I don't use but it is in many products. Low molecular weight oils used sparingly work the best to me. I like grape seed oil, Almond oil and jojoba. Coconut is okay for the ends but never on my scalp. More hydrophobic oils do coat the hair and can block moisture; which has it's place say a twist out that you want to last during the humid summer days.
Oh we def in solidarity on no product being crazy, because best believe SOMETHING is going in my hair before braids
I never realised how much oils aggravated my scalp until I stopped using them!
What can you use instead of oil if your scalp feels dry? I feel like oils are irritating my scalp even castor oil.
@Jasmine-nf7ey I don't put anything on my scalp. When I wash my hair, I use a proper cleansing shampoo for hair and scalp, then follow up with a moisturising shampoo. I keep my hair moisturised between washes and don't go too long without washing my hair.
@@Jasmine-nf7eywater, aloe vera gel or a mixture of both.
@@Jasmine-nf7eytry rose water. It has been a game changer for me. Either spray it directly on the scalp or apply it to a cotton ball.
Coconut oil is the worst oil for me..
I get too much dandrufff 😩
i don’t use oils on my scalp anymore bc it flares up my dermatitis. i heard some ppl are going back to blue majic but idk abt that yet. and if i go to my hairstylist, she doesn’t make me blow dry bc she has great grip regardless of the condition of my hair. i usually just stretch it in jumbo twists post-shampoo. if i’m doing it myself tho, i blow dry bc my grip isn’t as strong yet
Even if she tells me to not put product, I'll put some lightweight and non-greasy!! It feels like my hair is naked and unprotected if I don't put anything
What product do you use👀
same!
Same. I love the purology spray plus a tiny bit of spray heat protectant
@@nadiab.c6082 I’d recommend the Mizani 25 miracle spray leave in (I think that’s how it’s called). And a more affordable option is the keracre curlessence leave-in conditioner. Just put a little bit in your hand, emulsify it very well, spread it into a large to medium section of hair, and then braid it down. I usually blowdry my hair before braiding, so the quantity of leave-in I put is a quantity that I know it won’t revert my hair.
Hope that helps
For me Auntie Jackie’s leave in conditioner is perfect🫶🏾
Omg am I love with the outro music at the end! Yesss Jackie Jackie Jackie!!!!
So relaxing watching this. Thank you Jackie♥️
Love this..... I always do this process 3 days ahead of my protective style that way my leave-in has time to adsorb into my hair.
Does anyone do a video better than Jackie?!?!? Nope 👎🏾 You slay!!! Edits. Aesthetics. Realistics. Yes I made up that word just now 😂 Ahhh… you’re one of my faves!!! Super fan ❤
Jackie always talking out of my pay grade adding new things to my list when I get this bag because this is my first time hearing of a steam shower in my life 😭😭😭 **adds to my list with the home sauna and towel warmer**
Girl me and u too😅😅
Definitely going to add a light weight leave-in conditioner & cream to my hair even when my stylist say don’t add anything, I also blow dry my hair & make sure to get my roots & ends very straight 😂 I feel like as long as I don’t add a bunch of grease imma be good.
This video sure came at the best time, I am making my hair tomorrow, thank you so much for this Jackie
About the thing regarding hair stylist asking for no products - I get it. When i used to get my hair braided , i would moisturize my hair A LOT grease my scalp real good and some hair braiders wld be sucking their teeth they hands was MAD greasy from my hair lmaooooo . But I do my own hair completely now . Also learning to do my nails - too much disappointment and im not in a financial state to pay butt loads of money to the top tier stylist . Im also hoping to learn to do my make up from youuuuuu ❤❤❤❤ an updated version
girl you are beautiful and funny! You are always put together honey!
Blow drying depends on how fast I need my hair to be braid ready. If I’m washing night before then I put into 4-6 ponytails and braid down for stretched hair. If I’m in a rush then I’ll blow out on warm setting.
i actually like this format of ad because it’s unrelated to the content so it doesn’t make me feel like you’re forcing. i could also literally get all these products with my cash app card
I gotta blowdry my hair for anything like you said a loc style because some people are heavy handed and I lost a lot more hair when I dont personally blow-dry my hair
I quit using product (creams) years ago. Don’t use oil either. Just leave in and gel. When I protective style just a good leave in conditioner. I use revair to dry and it gets it straight enough to braid.
Your natural hair colour is best! So full and fluffy beautiful 😍 xx
It’s the outro for me!!! 🎉🎉
Recently, a friend of mine and I were talking about how oils really are advertised as hydration instead of lubricating and it really does make our scalps itchy 😩
there’s loads of misinformation for sure! oils don’t hydrate, they’re sealants. meaning oil alone won’t moisturize your hair. and putting oil on hair with no cream or moisture underneath and just sealing dry hair lol
Oil is the last thing I put. I use my anti each grease, my moisturizer and then I seal with the oil
Video literally posted the jight before I got some feed-ins. Thanks for always posting right when me need it Aunt Jackie ❤❤😂
I no longer go by auntie 🙅🏾♀️ thank you for watching 🫶🏾🤎
That makeup looks sooo good with these braids
I agree blow drying doesn’t dictate skill and I don’t really thinks it’s necessary for braids but it does help with certain styles.
I don’t use oil in my hair but I did go back to grease blue and it’s really helped.
I really enjoyed this video - I found it very therapeutic. Your hair looks beautiful Jackie 😍 girl is always eating with the hair styles 🙌🏾
Jackie, I'm a aspiring content creator and love you are my inspiration.Decided to call it UGC•LAVISH! Everytime I feel like giving up your videos always pops up! This is also divine intervention for me to take my dam braids out and love up on my scalp😂. Great content!
I have locs now but before the locs…I put product (a light one) in my hair. It’s muscle memory 🤷🏽♀️. And I am blow dry my hair before getting braids girly.
the eyemakeup! love the colors, lashes great video
I do my hair myself, and i never use to blow dry. Recently I started learning HOW to blow dry my 4c hair and it's much easier for me, especially with parting. I am not doing it bone straight though, that'll be way too much for me
notifications came through this time 🙌🏾
Love ❤️ the hair style Jackie 😍
I always put a lil conditioner in my hair even if they say not to lol, I just don't want it to be too dry! And I always blow dry too unless I'm doing like a twist out or braid out or something
Love the braids on you!
Beautiful natural hair!
Loved this video great tips because the prep work is so important. Would love an update about your results for the Fable and Mane oil in the future. I’ve been eyeing it. Idk who isn’t putting product in their hair before the style!!
I love your hair and you! STUNNING.
I blow dry before protective style and plat it in 4 box braid section🥰
i love oil on the scalp never all over the hair. my hair is very fine even a lightweight leave in will leave it greasy to the touch if im not careful
This video was so informative, love it! ❤
The braids are super cute
You're so so beautiful OMG! You in that cornrows ❤️❤️
your braids look so nice!
I put product in my hair before getting it done. Leave in conditioner and a light hair cream
Hey Jackie, sis!🤎💝🌻🤎
I love it when I catch you!👸🏽
I only blow dry my hair when getting my protective style.
That for me has restored my hairline and my hair in general because less heat..💁🏽♀️
Thank you for this Jackie
I love the blueberry products from curls
Omg, video much needed and perfectly timed. THAAAAANK YOU
Oh, you are using one of my favorite hair products 👊🏾
Jackie ily you’re a huge role model❤️🥰
Freeeesssshhh content babyyyyy 🥰🥰
Heyyyy!
hi, Jackie. hope you have a wonderful day. thanks for the video ❤
it's alwaysss the quality for me! 🖤
It’s me finding this as I’m about to blow dry my hair for knotless braids tomorrow😊

You look so beautiful Jackie
