    I just discovered how incredibly cheap 3D printers are now. Last time I checked they were many times more expensive. I was looking to see if it could be profitable and what products to sell. You answered both questions in an excellent manner; informative and to the point with no nonsense, and best of all: You didn't try to sell me anything! Thank you.

    Great list! One other niche is model railroading. Model railroaders are always looking for details to add to their layout that are not being mass produced by the major companies. Also printing detail parts for model locomotives is needed as mass produced locomotives often are missing details that a particular road name or road number had that made it unique.

    Good stuff here my friend! I think you are right, finding some kind of niche is the best way to go for 3D Printing for profit. I was fortunate to find a little niche myself and had to buy 15 Ender 3's and hire two contractor workers to keep up. We recently started selling our parts on Amazon FBA which has been a game changer for us so we don't have to run to the post office every day. What part of the country are you in?

    Great structure to tackle this relatively new market widely becoming more public and accessible. Thank you very much for this overview.
    I am personally considering selling 3D model files to be printed, I was just curious about the legal implications of selling a batman statuette model for example as I don't want to get sued down in the line of work :P
    I think it'd be nice to revamp some Pitt poses and other great characters.

      You might not be caught, but many people selling Pokemon stuff got troubles.

    My impression is that 3D printing is mostly for prototyping, sampling or printing a few copies upon request. And a farm is good for talking multiple orders each for relatively small number of copies. Right? If quantities are high isn't it better to use e.g. injection molding?

    • @3DPrintingForMoney
      @3DPrintingForMoney  Рік тому

      Hi Greg! Yes, you got it. Over 1 thousand pieces i suggest my clients to consider IM

      @@3DPrintingForMoney Thanks for the reply! So if it is less than 1,000 (e.g. 700), you would do it on 3D printing? Would you do that on multiple printers in parallel then? I feel like doing it all on one would take forever...

  • @Th3Nark

    With the Cosplay recommendation, do you need to have rights to sell 3D printed objects from a certain IP? E.g The Mando helmets, or anime pieces you showed.

    Some key info I was hoping to hear - where to find .STL’s for things like automotive and drone parts.
    Mainly to ensure your prints are compatible with your customers property. Thoughts?

    • @3DPrintingForMoney
      @3DPrintingForMoney  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Ben, for those two industries stls are very hard to find and some of them have been exploited a lot. the best way to ensure dimensional accuracy and reliability is to design your own product that fits the vehicle/drone.

  • @TheSpazztech
    @TheSpazztech 3 роки тому +2

    What about licensing? No one seems to talk about license costs? Do you design all these models your self?

    • @3DPrintingForMoney
      @3DPrintingForMoney  3 роки тому +2

      Industrial licensing is used a lot in manufacturing. But in the 3d printing realm, it is hard to implement due to scale. 3d printing production is convenient (in most cases) for batches under one thousand pieces. Proper licensing has baseline costs that are hard to justify with those numbers. And for products with a market above 1’000 pieces/year i would recommend to evaluate injection molding (scale and cost). For your second question, nowdays i design all my products, or implement customer’s ones (desing+prints)

    Sell prints.... ok.
    Sell 3d print as service....ok.
    Sell stl. Ok.
    Sell the actual non commercial licence of thing. Thats My area.
    Make stl and licence it as non commercial as service for sale.
    Licence checking services.
    OnSell filament.
    Sell recycled made filament. Filabot.
    The owners of sites that have sales services operating are possibly doing ok.
    Some sites take around 8% like cgtrader.
    Did uncle jessy say etsy took 50% in fees? Maybe.
    Good luck.

      All you listed are great niches, but i wanted to condense the video. There are many other niches out there. Was thinking of part 2 for other niches in the future. Uncle Jessy’s title is quite misleading being that 50% he says cover’s also shipping, advertising fees (etsy has the most competitive ones out there: you get charged only if you make a sale) and transaction fees. Normal business i would say, nothing so spectacular
