It's called the Clean Air Act of 1963
We already pay to just live
If there's breathable air, then it makes much more sense to build filtered masks to filter out the toxins than a bubble city. Hermetically sealed buildings would still make sense of course.
I would pray for death
Ikr someone with a brain
Finally someone who knows something
good for hurricane and tornado protection
that actuly makes sense. you can still breath it even with a gas mask off. so all they need to do is make a gas mask that can just filiter out all them toxins and boom you have regular air.
Could be a foreseeable future. Imagine the entire earth becomes filled with pathogens and the only clean, breathable oxygen's are under those domes.
Yup and it could happen sooner than you think
@Truegamerking doubt
@@oscartgk Happening right now in any place that has a "Carbon/CO2 tax".
I've been seriously wondering when they'll charge us for oxygen.
I mean we already have to pay for water
true
well but it would only be kinda a thing when we humans start owning our own sci fi spaceships to start paying for the breathing of oxygen! this is because oxygen is used both for us to breath and also as a oxidizer for liquid rocket fuel that you also pay for the water to get the oxygen for the sci fi spaceships life support and fuel but that's normally covered as part of the ship's fuel and crew life support supply replenishment costs but you would only pay for that if your the owner of the ship / space colony not the residents or crew that live in the ship that don't own it don't have to worry about paying for the oxygen then then indirectly by taxes any way
Kinda. You can get water for free in any pond, lake, rain....
That’s a bit of a straw man argument.
You don’t “pay for water”.
You pay for the facilities and infrastructure and treatment of clean water brought directly to multiple rooms in your house.
You “pay”, so that you don’t have to carry multiple buckets to the local stream, multiple times a day, in order to take a shower or brush your teeth or eat.
@@ashtiboy
I get you’re trying to be funny…but the original comment is not too far off.
Right now they are currently working on “direct air capture”, as a means of removing carbon from the atmosphere.
If it works…you could feasibly see a cost for NON-carbon oxygen…being provided by a system of direct air capture machines….exactly like “clean” water…and “clean natural gas”.
Aloysius O’Hare taking notes rn
Meanwhile, in an alternate universe:
What if You Had To Pay For The Water You Drink?
You mean reality.
Basically a water bill
@@kevkevv_ Technically you aren't paying for the water itself. You're paying for all the equipment and chemicals needed to clean it as well as the electricity to power the pumps.
For most of human history, clean water was a little bit harder to come by by those living outside of cities.
Absolutely love the long version of these videos!

I've played enough Oxygen Not Included to know that there's more hope for replenishing oxygen supplies than has been advertised throughout the video. For starters, water can be broken down into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis.
ONI will save a ton of lives

Q: What if you had to pay to breathe?
A: The Federal government would create a bloated and inefficient way to supply oxygen to everyone for “free” and undoubtably make it cost 50x more than it needed to with 10% of the quality.
If we had to pay to breathe, the guy who made that law would be getting a lot of harassment from so many people. It's literally the pinnacle of stupidity.

Or it would be privatized, supply restricted, prices jacked, and 60% of Americans would suffocate

We already do in Connecticut, it’s called the clean air tax. It’s one of those extra fees from the car bill we get annually that says “you park your car in our state, theirs a tax for that”.
I think you are wondering off the topic buddy the video is about paying to have your own oxygen not to prevent (pollution )
At this point, Im honestly surprised we don’t have to pay an o2 tax or that this exact scenario doesn’t exist yet 😂

Ahh the bubble dome apocalypse
1) if humans find the atmosphere toxic what animals will survive
2) will any aquatic animals survive this apocalyptic scenario
3) where will humans get a steady food supply
.... No breathable air food chain will break eventually
This was a quite sad story. However, I only take issue with the "world would be more peaceful" part. I've lived long enough to know that *humans will find a way to wage war* , even if they have to use sticks, stones, and slingshots.
This was more entertaining than most movies that have come out recently
If humanity had to pay for oxygen. Then, law and order is off the table.
Right off the bat, I’m thinking of the Lorax.

I would use energy from the nuclear reactor to power a massive Electrolysis device and split water into hydrogen and oxygen and funnel the oxygen into the habitat. You would also run into the issue of a buildup of carbon dioxide, to combat this I would use Direct Air Capture to rid the air of access carbon dioxide. In theory if you did both of these you would have a livable habitat.
You are the only one I mean the only one as far as me reading this text that has a brain that actually makes sense
fractional distillation of liquefied air is probably still more energy efficient to mass produce oxygen
You would also use the hydrogen as supplemental power or possibly more portable/vehicle power.
@@nathnathn yes you could that and it would be an excellent idea. In my head I envision electric vehicles. Charged from the reactor.
@@badbattleaxe5832 going by current battery technologies it wouldn’t be particularly likely particularly long term.
For while the current ones could be maintained they would be a good idea for short range/internal transport.
Sources of lithium are limited as is without the lack global infrastructure. Not to mention both charge time and the infrastructure for long range charging that would now be in likely uninhabited and unmaintained areas.
More conventional fuel stops or significantly reinforced gas tanks are a fair bit easier to maintain with only the very rare absolutely required maintenance.
The pumps would likely be powered by the vehicles as either the main power source or atleast the backup.
Long term vehicles would likely have some form of airlock as well even if just air tight plastic sheet or something you can seal yourself to the door with to preserve untainted air supply.
Amazing little journey you took us on. Thanks!

Wait, you have to buy oxygen but internal combustion engines still work outside and people are insane enough to actually use them? Also, Electrolysis is also a thing, not even just splitting water either, oxygen is a byproduct when refining many common metal ores as well. Algae is another great source of oxygen, ditch growing the vascular plants (whos roots consume oxygen) and just grow algae (which is far more efficient). Many can grow in sea water and some even taste like bacon and are very nutritious.

If I made it alive, then so did cyanobacteria and other life forms that are more simplistic. I will just plant a large number of useful plants in my small hovel and use a rather large camber for water that has been inoculated cyanobacteria. Take apart all my lithium batteries to make a CO2 scrubber. Nitrogen being mostly unreactive will still be the majority of atmosphere, the rest I can create by proxy of biology and chemistry.
That's what I was thinking with the cyanobacteria - seen many videos on them.
