I love to see the originals still being shown respect
I’m afraid that in my lifetime they will go away
    They are absolutely obsolete
It’s the respect that matters, they were the first
I’m talking about the builders as much as the engine

That gentleman is an absolute expert, I’ve had many cars over the years but one car I had back in the sixties as a young bloke here in Australia was my 53 Ford Mainline Aussie built Ute and its 239 sidewacker V8, geez I loved that car and that wonderful engine!

That runs nice and smooth! Actually sounded not as loud as I thought it would without exhaust.

Sir, you have a new subscriber. Your engine sounds amazing. I've always wanted a flathead, and recently became the proud owner of a '50 Merc. The project stalled when the previous owner passed, so I am trying to sort out a few things. I have dual carbs, and what appears to be a linkage that operates both carbs simultaneously. Should this linkage be progressive? At low rpm would I be running rich? The plugs are burning black and sooty. The valves are oversize, and I was told it has a 3/4 cam. Thank you for your input. (Matt 73 y/o and new to flatheads)

I got an original 8 BA carb at a garage sale and I don’t know how much it’s worth. Decent condition and could be cleaned up real well. Any ideas?
