Hey, thanks for the video. I found your channel a few months ago while doing research on my shotgun choices. Even after I decided to go with a STF 12 instead of the 1301 (for legal reasons mostly) it is nice seeing the updates you do on your shotgun. Have a great Sunday. Take care Matt
Fixed stock is good to go. You get a lot of extras between rmr plate, qd mounts, pistol grip, adjustable butt and cheek and USA made man. $350 stock on a $1800 piece of equipment sounds reasonable to me for a small biz usa made high quality product
It's certainly interesting design. My biggest concern and this is no slight on them as all companies go through this......this being a new design will get released and sell "X" number of units. They will get reviewed all over UA-cam, tons of feedback and likely redesign this in 12-16 months improving it. We've seen this on thousands of products which makes me hesitant to buy into a first gen release. Once they gen established, we hear more feed back about customer service and longevity of product in the field holding up then I'm me personally I'm more inclined to buy something like this. The original stock works, it's not fancy but it works. I will keep watching for sure to see how things progress and if others report use of it. Thanks for sharing.

With most pistol grip stocks on shotguns, they look cool, but allow more muzzle flip due to increased bore axis. This Chisel Machining stock IS different. As for the red dot mount, nice idea, but red dots are traditionally mounted more forward for a reason. Also, I’m not a fan of co-witnessing sights because they just clutter your sight picture. I use an American Defense QD mount to attach my red dot to my 1301. I’m currently waiting(patiently) for my Briley handguard I ordered for the 1301 to complete my build. They’re so much nicer than the Magpul/Aridus Industries option. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the video bro, good tutorial and review. Im sorry but that stock is a complete bust. It can't fold properly with expected kit and the option of having it fold on the charging side is unacceptable to me...I currently have the Mesa Arms Urbino on my A300 and I love it. Cheers!
If You can do away with that pointy edge when open past fully closed it's exposed as I instantly noticed it and you moving your hand around it when handling it assembled on gun (looks bothersome) so if you can round it off there nicely I'd be sold on one!?
Good video. Not a fan of the chisel stock. Yes, it looks tactical but not as intuitive as the traditional Magpul SGA. Maybe it’s the pistol grip. Don’t like it on M4 either. Have both A300 and 1301 setup similarly; lately training and taking classes w A300. Don’t feel as bad running it hard.
My other shotgun is a Mossberg 930 JM pro series tactical class. So there were already a lot of differences in controls for me. JM Pro video for reference: ua-cam.com/video/TiL0opkcvCI/v-deo.htmlsi=TzbMgcElOA2p76bK Where the safety is located, the height of factory sights, the way the internals operate, etc. So, for me, it was more about optimizing the 1301 in a vacuum, not trying to make it like another shotgun I already had. I can see the value in doing that, though. I do that for some of my AR-15 setups. Do what works best for you, I say. Also, congrats on having both of those shotguns!
Here's what I found in a forum: Here's how to switch the safety button from one side to the other 1. Remove trigger plate (directions in manual). 2. On the right side of the trigger plate towards the front there's a small set screw. This screw closes off a hole in the front of the trigger plate below the lifter. Loosen the screw while covering the hole it closes off. 3. Catch the tiny spring that emerges from the hole. 4. Push safety all the way out, flip around and put back in (tilt trigger plate forward if needed, but be careful not to lose the detent that is also down the hole the spring came out of) 5. Replace spring (& detent if it came out) back down hole 6. Push spring back down hole past set screw with a tiny thin tool like a flat-bladed screwdriver, screw set-screw back in enough to retain spring, remove tool & screw in the rest of the way. 7. Replace trigger plate and test
Great show as always! It's a class session when ever you're on. Thank you very much By the way, I'm building my 1301, you have me thinking of the adds and minus of both, are you interested in selling the SGA? That will at least update me a bit, if so?
Thanks for watching! As far as what Chisel Machining says, it only works on the 1301 and the A400. Admittedly, I'm not familiar enough with the A400 and A300 lines to know what the differences would be between them regarding stock compatibility. I would either reach out to Beretta in your best Italian accent (they'll LOVE that) or Chisel to get a more definitive answer.
You got me there! Whoops, I was just measuring the length of each stock. I definitely did that wrong. If it was true length of pull, the Chisel would be even shorter.
I'm surprised you didn't do anything about the handguard, given how you felt about the stock. For a 4-digit priced shotgun I find it a deal breaker for the handguard to flex the way it can and having the recoil spring exposed. What's your take on that?
Funny you should ask. I'm just editing a video about a new handguard now, lol. The video is too in-depth to cover in a comment, so I'll have to give the youtuber response of "Make sure you're subbed and your notifications are on" 😉
Thanks for the super informative video. I just ordered two of the Chisel stocks and I had a question regarding RMR mount. When you installed your Holosun on did it co-witness with the factory sight? I'm inbetween picking the 508 and 509 but would much prefer the 509 for because of the enclosed emitter design but since it requires an adapter plate I wanted to know if it required some height adjustments.
Thanks! It's a lower 1/3 cowitness. I spoke with the Chisel guys at shotshow. In my interview with them, they said they would be coming out with that piece for other optics in the future. One of them will be for the 509T. I'd hit them up and see if you can get a timeline on that. ua-cam.com/video/FWdeik6ukfI/v-deo.htmlsi=pOMMk9ZrjBUWsp5v
I noticed it pulls up and to the right when you fire it. I purchased the LTT version after watching your videos and found mine also pulls to the right when firing it… I’ve never had a shotgun that does that. Odd.
Yup. I just shot 50 slugs through it today, and I noticed that, too. Probably has some to do with how we are standing, but I'm interested to see if anyone else is getting the same recoil impulse.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian Same here, I was firing slugs when I noticed it. (It’s the only thing I’m allowed to use at the ranges near D.C. so I couldn’t compare to other ammo for comparison.) I’d be interested to see more. But you’re right, it’s probably my stance or something. (But I don’t have that issue with my Remington 870?) Anyway, great video! Thanks for the reply.
@TommyHolly I also feel this needs more scientific testing, lol. You might have ruled out it being due to stance, though, if it doesn't happen with a pump action, which usually is harder recoiling.
Good video, thanks for doing it. So with the stock is the view through the red dot absolute cowitness or lower 1/3? Also once installed are you still able to remove and reinstall the trigger housing group?
Thanks! It's a 1/3 Co-witness. Since the fire control group kind of hinges down and pulls out towards the front of the shotgun, there "shouldn't" be an issue getting it out. I say shouldn't because I haven't had to remove it since I installed this stock. I would reach out to Chisel to see what they say. I don't see them overlooking that as it would be a major design flaw, IMO.
@waynehendershot5766 spray paint is always the answer! Lol. I'm excited to rattle can my 14.5 I'm working on. Just waiting on an optic from @primaryarmsoptics then the fun can begin.

Honestly I wish this folded right side, under the charging handle. Side shell carriers are too important for a shotgun to lose just for the sake of folding it, and I don't think a stock shell carrier is a decent replacement.
Run Esstac cards with the velcro loop on the left side like normal, unfold and slap a card on the shotgun. In a pinch violin load with shells sitting upside down from the stocks ammo card. I do this anyway due to needing the shotgun to fit in a scabbard, having the red dot at the back helps with that as well, and the folding stock shortens the OAL to make it more comfortable and fit better while riding on the side of a rucksack.
I took this seriously as a review until you had fanciful ideas of how it is staged for use. Also, the dot mount should be removable and come with flush fit screws for when you have no optic mounted. Everything that has an optional dot space should. Dot should be further out from, not closer to your eye.
I think I covered that in my DIY LTT video, and I'll be going over it again in my Midwest Industries handguard video as I've matched it to the Chisel Machining folding stock. I'll answer your question anyway, though, lol. For the magpul furniture, it was cerakoted Magpul Foliage Green by Odins Workshop. For the metal furniture (or if you want the same color for cheaper), I used a coat of Rustoleum Flat Khaki, then 2 coats of Rustoleum Deep Forest Green.
That is a terrible way to fold the stock. I haven't used this specific stock, but i've used this type of folding mechanism. Put your thumb on the front part of the hinge assembly, the part that does not move. If there's not enough room, anywhere forward of the hinge is good. Place your other fingers on the underside of the stock Push down with your thumb, pull up with your fingers.
I've said it before, but you really just have to experience how much spring tension the folding mechanism is under in person to know what I mean. Maybe once it's broken in more, your method will work. I sure hope so.
I don't, I have two of them. Every time I hand them to someone who hasn't used them they end up running into the same issue. They grab the stock and just try to pull up on it. Again, place the thumb on a non-moving part forward of the hinge, use your fingers to pull the stock up, pivoting on your thumb. I can try to record something for you when I get home.
@YourFavoriteLibertarian the stock uses a hinge made by Midwest industries. Which is pretty much a clone of the sig 1913 picatinny folding adapter, of which I own two.
@@codywalker2927 don't worry about the video. I understand how to do the method you're referring to. It's just super stiff (my sample size of 1). I'm hoping it gets easier with wear.
Is it possible to run an Aimpoint Acro P2 on the Chisel Machining folding stock? Prefer it over the Trijicon RMR. Was just curious whether anyone else has done it.
You could, but only if you had an adapter plate that converts the RMR footprint to the Acro P2 footprint. That's as of right now. I was told at shot show they would be developing swapable mounts for different footprints, though. So, eventually, you'll be able to configure the stock for your specific optic.
The entire Chisel stock setup weighed 2.6 pounds on my scale. Without the shotgun card plate, it was 2.4 pounds. The LTT stock is hard to get specific on since it's 1.5 pounds with only 2 spacers installed. That doesn't include the weight of the GG&G adapter, more spacers, or the Cheek Risers of various heights. I will say this. In practice, I'd didn't notice much of a difference with the way I had both set up. Maybe the Chisel felt slightly heavier if I had to pick one, but if anything, it just made the shotgun feel more balanced.
I currently don't have a chest rig set up for shotgun. I may look into that, though. If you were referring to the plate carrier I was using in the video, check out the description. I have time stamps in there that tell you where all the parts of the video would be so you can skip right to them. I believe the time stamp is called "My Shotgunner Gear".
I guess it depends on how much your state government infringes upon your God-given rights? Do they have capacity limits? If so, it would most likely go by what can be fit in the "magazine." Since the magazine is not detachable, you may have even more leeway. Either way, 7 rounds is the advertised capacity, so you should be good, right?
@Nel33147 you'd have to look into that one. I would assume that wouldn't apply to shotguns much like barrel length restrictions are different for shotguns vs. rifles. But do your research before you buy. Also, if you do end up picking one up, if you could use my LTT link, I'd appreciate it. Doesn't cost you any extra, and it helps me out. yourfavoritelibertarian.com/
Anything with velcro would work since the shells are just in shotgun cards, but for the video, I was running my Defense Mechanisms MEPC. If you want to save money on it, YOURFAV saves you 10%.
Either my strong hand isn't that strong, or my sample size of one is waaaay stiffer than yours, but it's way harder to do it that way than the method I've been using.
You know those guys that dress up in the park and play wizard and knight with foam swords...they are cooler than cosplay GI Jane here. Guys like this are why normal people laugh at libertarians.

I took this seriously as a review until you had fanciful ideas of how it is staged for use.
Also, the dot mount should be removable and come with flush fit screws for when you have no optic mounted. Everything that has an optional dot space should. Dot should be further out from, not closer to your eye.
Well, I can at least agree with you on them needing to include flush fit hardware for the optics plate.
How did you get the green Magpul stock for the 1301?
I think I covered that in my DIY LTT video, and I'll be going over it again in my Midwest Industries handguard video as I've matched it to the Chisel Machining folding stock.
I'll answer your question anyway, though, lol. For the magpul furniture, it was cerakoted Magpul Foliage Green by Odins Workshop. For the metal furniture (or if you want the same color for cheaper), I used a coat of Rustoleum Flat Khaki, then 2 coats of Rustoleum Deep Forest Green.
Does the Chisel Machining stock fit to a 1301 Tactical Mod 2 as well? What red dot sight did you run on the Chisel stock?
Yes. I actually played quite a few of them at Shot Show that were Mod 2's with those stocks on them. Holosun 507c X2.
That is a terrible way to fold the stock. I haven't used this specific stock, but i've used this type of folding mechanism.
Put your thumb on the front part of the hinge assembly, the part that does not move. If there's not enough room, anywhere forward of the hinge is good.
Place your other fingers on the underside of the stock
Push down with your thumb, pull up with your fingers.
@codywalker2927 if you had 2 Chisel Machining folding stocks, I'd be very impressed. Those things are pricey, lol.
You can't be my favorite libertarian. I'm my favorite libertarian.....well....ancap.
Lol, well, it's nice to meet another Libertarian at least.
Sorry I had no idea
What chest rig is that ???

@@YourFavoriteLibertarian thanx
How much more weight does it add?
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian wow, very detailed reply. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. Thank you for the information
@@187chona happy to help!
What chest rig are you running for the shot gun use? Thanks.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian Thanks so much. I sent this before I saw the entire video. My apologies.
@@Mtgavin55 No worries. Thanks for watching the whole thing! 🙂
It's fits with A300 ULTIMA PATROL?
It says it works for the 1301 and the A400 on their website. I'm not seeing anything about the A300.
A version from chisel is coming soon for the a300up
Prayers for our nation to turn back to God and follow Him in spirit and truth 🙏🏻
AMEN TO THAT!

And I like shotguns oh more thing
I like Trump too.
I'm voting for President Donald J Trump
Would this be legal in a ban state like NJ ?
I guess it depends on how much your state government infringes upon your God-given rights?
Do they have capacity limits? If so, it would most likely go by what can be fit in the "magazine." Since the magazine is not detachable, you may have even more leeway.
Either way, 7 rounds is the advertised capacity, so you should be good, right?
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian
10round limit.
I was alluding more to the folding butt stock.
On an AR style it has to fixed.
But what about on a shotgun ?
@Nel33147 you'd have to look into that one. I would assume that wouldn't apply to shotguns much like barrel length restrictions are different for shotguns vs. rifles. But do your research before you buy. Also, if you do end up picking one up, if you could use my LTT link, I'd appreciate it. Doesn't cost you any extra, and it helps me out.

I missed the name of the company for those shot cards. Can anybody help me out?
I can! Grim Hunter Tactical
Dedicated review coming soon!
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian thanks man! I appreciate it!
@coldsteel.and.courage Happy to help! I don't have a special link for them, but tell them I sent ya!
If you have an exra 500 dollars for the Chisel stock then by all means.
Exactly, lol. Buy this stock or another handgun, right?
What chest rig do you use that holds those shells?
Anything with velcro would work since the shells are just in shotgun cards, but for the video, I was running my Defense Mechanisms MEPC. If you want to save money on it, YOURFAV saves you 10%.
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian thanks bud
Yeah for 500 I’d rather buy a second mossberg 500 or bunch of extra shells.
Hey, I wouldn't want to mess with a guy that's dual-wielding shotguns, lol.
I found that stock incredibly uncomfortable on my face.
Which one?
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian chisel
@@jc51373 weird. I felt that way about the magpul stock.
use you thumb on your strong hand. . .
That actually sounds super fun. Why all the hate? Who hurt you?
@@YourFavoriteLibertarian who needs to be hurt to laugh at a clown; between the joke that is being a libertarian and you playing dress up soldier there is a lot to laugh at. If you actually served in the military I’ll give the dress up a pass, but I bet more than likely you work an office job.
would like to send you my email info, on what price for the SGA?
Feel free to hop on yourfavoritelibertarian.com for my contact info.
I'm about to buy this stock so I can move it over to my mcx lol looking like a hex screw holds it in place
Well, the folding mechanism is essentially a pic rail attachment, so you could.
Great content. Sell me the card and mount!
Hahaha 😂
No, seriously, is it for sale?
@247lumpy Dude, this is UA-cam. You can't be asking questions like that here. Pretty soon, they'll disable the comments on this video again.
