Thank you for making this video!
Our pleasure!
Best shotgun maintenance video I've seen. Many of the tips apply to all shotguns, not just the 1301. I particularly like the admonition not to overclean the piston, cylinder, and magazine tube; I plead guilty.
Thanks for showing love for the 1301! it’s a real gem. Aridus has some great stuff for it but you guys bring it all together in a nice package! Keep doing what you doing!
WARNING-at 17:07 when Ernest suggests tightening the barrel clamp to 15-20 inch/pounds……DON’T!! I did exactly that using my Wheeler FAT torque wrench and the nuts inside the clamp immediately stripped. After about a half-dozen back-and-forth emails between Langdon and myself they are leaving me hanging and their only suggestions is to spend $90 on a new aluminum GG&G clamp w/ an M-LOK attachment. They denied that the screws should have been tightened that much EVEN THOUGH I sent them this video at the exact point where he recommends to do just that. I began a Reddit thread about it and it’s not just me…there’s a bunch of upset people out there due to LTT’s less-than-stellar customer service. Buyer beware-
This video is done with the solid Aluminum Barrel clamp, not the plastic clamp you have on your gun. That makes a huge difference. I also say not to over-tighten.
Be honest about what happened with your gun. You broke something and then wanted to blame it on us.
@@LangdonTactical “Be honest”…..wow, that just takes the cake. I’m a 53-yr old veterinarian who has never been accused of lying about anything in my life until now; that was an INCREDIBLY rude and inaccurate statement. Tell, me, how should I have even known that you are using an aluminum clamp vs. the nylon one that you sold me? It was never mentioned in the video and does not particularly stand out as something different on my phone screen. It would have been nice to add something like “Don’t go over 10 with the plastic clamp that we actually sold you with this gun". I have been honest from the beginning and will continue to be for the rest of my life. You gave detailed instructions. I specifically followed those instructions. The nuts inside the clamp stripped at 18 inch-pounds of pressure. I am fanatical about maintaining and cleaning all of my firearms. I guess the only possible answer other than selling a faulty piece (because that NEVER happens in real life 🙄) is my Wheeler torque wrench suddenly failed? Why are y’all being so obstinate about this issue? My entire purchase experience with LTT was beyond excellent and y’all may still have those emails where I couldn’t stop thanking you for selling me a dream gun that was very hard to get. But now I’m the lying a**hole? Once more for the record, BUYER BEWARE. It’s so absurd that a company cannot fathom that they may have sold a defective part and need to resort to calling me a liar. Pitiful.
Reading this as a neutral 3rd party that was a pretty dick reply from the company. I’ve been considering one of their modified guns but this is definitely giving me pause.
Word. Countt me out too. I think I found the OP’s Reddit thread and he seems to be in the right on this. He wrote it up well plus there were other issues he had that aren’t even mentioned here and other people had the same trouble. I’m still getting a 1301 but not from this company if that’s how they treat their customers. I’ll modify it my own way
Thanks folks, I really appreciate your support. FWIW my purchase experience was great-it’s a hard to get gun but I happened to call just when they had a cancellation so I snapped that one up. And they even let me swap out the optic mount for a different model when I changed my mind on the optic (the Holosun 509T is great!). I thanked them profusely and plenty. So imagine my shock when they just couldn’t accept that a part was defective or that they posted incorrect instructions. Truly bizarre experience.
Clean, concise and detailed. Thank you! Cycle/Function check key. Looking forward it getting one and making it just as such.
Thank you for the video Earnest and team. Best video I’ve seen for the 1301. Helps me a bunch in making sure I get my gun down as far as I can and make sure it’s done properly.
Much appreciate this content. Just purchased the 1301 and definitely needed this detailed info. Many thanks!
Yes Sir Counsellor! 🤙🏻👌🏻 Love mine too
Thank you!! The absolute bible to care for my 1301 LTT. Much more confident I won’t screw it up when cleaning.
Just watched prior to cleaning my LTT 1301 for the first time. Thanks for the info!
Extremely helpful video. Thanks!
Thanks very much being a novice it really helps to know what’s going on with the shotgun really really appreciate it. Great to have guys take the time to help and experience firearms owners.
Thank you, great video. I just got my 1301. I’m not very good at reading the instructions and this is perfect. Beretta should include your video with their gun.
Thanks for making awesome products.
That’s all. Have a nice day.
Just ordered an LTT 1301. Cant wait to start working with it!
C Lowe. Would you mind tipping me off where I can get an LTT. I can't find anybody that has a clue where to get one? PLS eM me if possible.
Excellent video. Step by step instructions. Well done.
Thank you
Absolutely excellent! Thank you
Thank you your the only one who easy to follow very personal..
Very nicely done. I have one of these on the way!!!
Super helpful.. thanks for the clinic.
you're welcome!
Great Video. Thank you!
I just wanted to say thank you for your video! It helped me work through the initial maintenance of my Beretta LTT 1301 Tact. Deeply appreciated!
Glad it helped
@@LangdonTactical Hello Ernest, is your zhukov handguard the GG&G GGG-2810 modified forend kit?
@@snafuhomestead I don't know their commercial part number. We buy from them in bulk.
@ernestlangdon3075 Ok, thank you for the reply!
Great information thank you
Perfect, thank you.
Thank you for this
Outstanding.
This is really helpful
Great video… 👍🏼
I love my Gen2 ya'll did up!
I added a Vickers sling with BCM QDC's fore and aft, with a Streamlight TLR1-HL 1,000 Lumen with pressure pad. You willing to perform a 30 second "field-lubricating" vid? Keep up the GREAT work!
outstanding
aboslut great video for the 1301, all you/i need
Thank you.
You guys need to do an updated video for the new one
Looking forward to owning one of those someday.
You ever get one?
@@The_Babbling_Brooks No not yet.
Thanks for this - the Beretta video doesn't cover what to do with a stock magazine extension. I just purchased the J131TT18C "LE" model with the extension and barrel clamp pre-installed from Beretta and their video concerning the 1301 Tactical was for the Gen 1. I was afraid I was going to have to learn field-stripping in a "trial-by-dry-fire." >.>
I don't have the LE model but my tactical included a magazine extension and clamp. Looks like to get past the cap on top of the tube you need to use a small screwdriver or punch to remove it, then of course taking care to make sure you don't send your spring into low-Earth orbit. One my new follower arrives I'll have to do this.
Real awesome video !!! I just got exactly the same model as yours but marine coat. I was trying to disassembly it and clean up but I accidentally had a few drops gun oil on the gas piston and put a little oil on the magzine tube, so is that gonna cause any issue or damage the gun ?
WE NEED YOUR 1301 parts kit !!! when will you have new stock?
Great video. Will you be doing a similar one on the GEN 3 since it comes with a factory mag extension? Eagerly waiting on mine.
Man that chrome plating is great. What size o-ring is needed when the cylinder o-ring gets damaged and renders your shotgun inoperable???
Does the LTT utilize the stock magazine tube spring or the new spring that the nordic extension ships with?
As soon as this SG is back in stock, / I'll be a new owner. Is there an option for a 3 or 4 shell extension tube?
Thx.
Are mineral spirits safe on the plastic pieces of the 1301? It’ll harm ABS and HDPE. Not sure what’s used in firearms, though. Could I use it to clean a Glock as well?
Get these back in stock!!! Money is burning a hole in my pocket
I get a ton of smudge built up in the barrel and looks like “pitting” but have been told that’s the wad smudge. Idk what the hell it is but I can’t get the barrel clean. It’s in the middle of the barrel
What size tiny punch is everyone using for the bolt? It’s smaller than 1/16
Just for those watching in AUS and NZ Mineral Spirits is Mineral Turpentine
Just got my Langdon 1301 in yesterday. Noticed no matter what I do my magazine tube only hold 6 shells. I opened it up and the only things inside are the spring and follower. I thought these were supposed to hold 7 in the magazine with +1 in the chamber (additional +1 beyond that if ghost loaded). Suggestions?
Edit: It was the shells. I did not realize that not all 2.75 are created equal. When I run defense loads, 7 fit perfectly fine.
Just to add, not necessarily. I couldn’t get more than 6 shells (Federal) or Zoom caps in either until after my first breakdown and cleaning. There was an issue with the barrel clamp to begin with and once it loosened up all 7 went in easy as pie.
Great tutorial for us 1301 owners thank you!
I tend to get a lot of lead build up in the barrel after 10+ slugs..any recommendations for reducing that build up and or easiest way to clean it afterwards?
To date Kroil oil and brush seems to make the least amount of work removing said lead. And then some Slip2000 oil leaving the bore 'wet', then patch dry prior to firing again.
Dude I have the same problem. I have no clue how to get the barrel completely smudge clean
@@rupert916 it's kinda nuts isn't it?
The best I've found it Kroil oil and brass brush but it takes a long time and is pretty hazardous. Then I let the barrel sit wet with Slip2000 lube overnight. Definitely wear a respiratory while using the Kroil and brush.
I don't understand why the Steelium barrel would pick up lead faster than most shotgun barrels. Beretta told me that this shouldn't be happening but unfortunately didn't offer a solution.
I've all but stopped slugs because of the headache and she's mostly a safe queen until turkey season each year.
Please share if you have any luck finding a remedy.
Cheers
What if you run some birdshot through after the slugs?
@@jpjp3873 you know, I've never tried that. Thank you for the suggestion.
Is it known to work?
Waterfowl steel or lead birdshot I wonder which would work best.
@@canadoescalling1800 I’ve heard it recommended for handguns…haven’t heard it mentioned for shotguns. I would think steel shot would be the best option.
Great video, thank you! How many rounds till I need to change magazine spring?
That is a really good question. It's has to be more than 20K from our experience.
@LangdonTactical awesome good to know. I ordered a factory spring for when I need it, probably will take me awhile 🤣
Nice, no voodoo liquids.
Hello, I’ve only put 15 rounds through my shot gun I just got this 1301 tactical another UA-camr said clean it every time u shoot other says you don’t have too it will be fine do anyone have answers as to when should the shotgun be cleaned???????
Just lube it when it starts to malfunction, put some lube in the action and cycle it by hand then shoot it. Works for mine, 1000+ in with no cleaning. Just lube
8:16 the piece at the end of the barrel that goes into the receiver, when I was cleaning it just loosened up and I was able to rotate it. Is that normal? When I put it back together it was just hand tight so it would line up for everything to go back in. ?
It should not be loose.
Can you replace the plastic sleeve on the bolt release and recoil spring assembly?
It can be replaced.
Does 1301 need to be cleaned before use? Thanks for the video and all the upgrades to my 92 LLT Elite, just got it back end of July and my trainer Chuck wants me to use it as my duty gun. Level 2 or 3 holster options?
didn't look it needed to be cleaned before first use. All I did is add some lubrication on moving parts without disassembly and that's it
No, it does not need to be cleaned before use. We have US-Duty gear holsters on our website.
@@LangdonTactical I purchased my 1301 an put 15 rounds through it should I clean it or am I fine until I get to a certain amount of rounds ? I haven’t lubricated anything shot straight out the box thank you
@@hoodsta_Pizzo Weather and rain aside, If it is going to be stored now for a long period of time, then I would clean it for sure. If you are going to the range again soon, just make sure to wipe it off so that sweat and oils from your hands do not cause any rust.
Need to know about shotgun cleaning of 1301 comp pro
It is almost exactly the same gun. Cleaning is the same.
My 1301 is ejecting unfired shells out the loading port while firing. Where do i start?
Thank you for your message. For product or customer service questions, please email us at contactus@langdontactical.com
The magazine tube needs to be cut to install the Nordic components mag extension?
No, the Nordic mag extension is for the first generation of guns, which have a shorter 5-round magazine tube. The newer versions of the 1301 Tactical have a solid 7-round tube that does not need an extension.
What dummy rounds are those? Looking for good dummy rounds that simulate length and weight.
We get them from Brownell's
Yall gettin any new stock coming in for your 1301s?
yes - waiting on parts from Aridus!
I noticed there are two very small Indention/groove marks inside my 1301 Tactical barrel about half way down the barrel. Is this normal? The shotgun has never been fired. Thanks
Yes, those are the gas ports that make the gun function.
@@ernestlangdon3075 Thank you, sir. I feel stupid now. It’s my first semiauto shotgun.
Is the LTT Gen 3 1301 threaded for choke? I'd like to use my Salvo 12 on it and will be ordering from you soon.
Yes, they come with the Beretta Optima screw in choke tube.
@@LangdonTactical Thank you! I might place an order soon but I was waiting for the Tungsten Gray offering.
If you shoot any slugs slug at all you will need a tornado brush. The amount of lead slugs leave in the barrel is astounding. Solvent on the tornado brush doesn't seem to help or hurt. I put down a piece of newspaper for all the lead that comes out. Otherwise the 1301 is awesome.
What follower is that? Looking for a safer replacement
That one is from Nordic Components.
My shell catch isn't big enough or something is holding it out a little because the shells are barely held in the magazine and occasionally slip by dumping shells on the ground, usually one per shot or if I cycle the action manually, one will pop out every 5-10 cycles. Going back.
If it is ours, send it back to us. Otherwise send it back to Beretta.
Not ya'lls, haven't gotten that far along. First I've heard of this type of issue on them.
My LTT drops 1 to 3 on the ground since first day I’ve had it. Being new to shotguns I thought it was user error.
@@MyronNoland change the cartridge latch. Seems it is a common known problem with these actions. Some are manufactured out of spec. Mine runs flawless now.
@@MrSamIAm39 thank you for the info!
Ernest, just got my 1301 in from you. Do I need to lube it prior to firing? Thsnks!
I would always check and re-lube any gun before the range or putting any gun into service.
@@ernestlangdon3075 Thank you, sir. Also, does this level of maintenance need to be done after every range use? Also, is it recommended to run the choke that came installed from you?
@@82lowe36id No, I would always check that it is lubricated, but it does not need to be cleaned like this unless you have put a bunch of ammo through it, like thousands of shells.
What is the blue lube / needle used?
That is Lucas Extreme gun oil.
My 1301 tactical barrel won’t come off, what could be the reason ?
If it came from Langdon Tactical, I would contact our customer service team at contactus@langdontactical.com for this question.
It's covered in carbon probably because the oring seal on the inside broke in the gas system. Ur gonna have to man handle it.
How often do you recommend cleaning the 1301?
It really depends on the environment and the ammo. Some ammo is cleaner than others and a sandy windy environment is going to require maintenance more often.
Good video, thanks! Question: What is the recommended cleaning interval- how many rounds fired before cleaning is necessary? Thanks!
That is a tough question because it really comes down to the environment and the ammo you use. Sand, rain, mud, and other things can cause you to need to clean your gun more often. Specifically blowing sand, if that gets in the gun, you need to clean it out. Also, some kinds of ammo burn much dirtier than others. So that may mean you need to clean more often as well. I would say adding oil to the moving parts and running a bore snake through the barrel every range trip and or every 500 rounds and a good cleaning every 1500 to 2000 should be fine. If it is a duty-type gun, meaning you are relying on it to save your life, it should be very clean anytime it is in that role.
If any gun is going to sit awhile without any attention. Always clean it prior.
My experience with the 1301 Comp Pro is that it will stop cycling 24g skeet/trap loads reliably at around 500 rounds. After that the gas piston must come out and be scrubbed clean. Haven't tried how long it will go with 28g Sporting loads.
Do you still have these 1301 available?
Yes we do.
I have never thought of using Mineral Spirits for cleaning a shotgun.
I will from now on.
Where can I get one of those table’s? What brand makes them?
I am pretty sure Lowe's has them. Gladiator is the brand.
@@ernestlangdon3075 Thank you. I’ll check into it. 👍🙏
When will you guys have these back in stock?
When Beretta and the other vendors ship us more to build. We are trying to make them faster, but the vendors cannot keep up with the demand. We are doing our best!
@@LangdonTactical Thanks for the the quick response. I'm ready to buy, I'll keep a eye out on ya website.
Are there any items that need lubrication? It seems like it's mainly wipe down and that's it, no?
Did you watch the whole video?
@@LangdonTactical yes. Lubricating was briefly stated but it didn't specify where and what.
@@RubberChickenMan007 Metal on metal parts, where the bolt cam rides, the locking lugs of the bolt, the bottom of the bolt where the hammer gets pushed back down and recocked. We use Lucas Extreme oil, but any quality lube should be fine.
@@LangdonTactical thank you!
Do they have one for the A300 Patrol?
Do they have "one" what for the A300 Patrol?
Sorry, a cleaning video for the A300.
Anyone have the Magpul SGA stock loosen a little bit after shooting it a bunch? I want to tighten it back up. Have done zero research so far… who can help me out with a shortcut? TIA 👌🏻
Yeah that was really easy… lol
Where can get a manual on the 1301? The E link from the manufacturer is absolutely useless…
I am pretty sure Beretta will send you one. Contact their customer service.
@@LangdonTactical I did and got an E version with no pictures or part(s) description. Hopeless really. Be a great issue for a lawyer. So if anyone has the parts photos....
@@georgejoseph4164 What information are you trying to get from this manual?
@@LangdonTactical Id just like some diagrams or photos that should go with it. I have the written part but any graphics are missing.
Great common sense cleaning philosophy. People get carried away trying to make everything shiny and forget the whole purpose of cleaning: to ensure the gun remains reliable. In other words, unless there is so much crud in your gun that it literally binds up the action, you are probably overthinking it. As long as excess crud is removed and you get some fresh lubrication in there, you are good to go.
My LTT Beretta 1301 is not cycling. Bolt goes back about 50%. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for this thing. I shouldn’t have any problems. 😢😢😢
Please email us at contactus@langdontactical.com and we will get you squared away.
Ummmm, Useless being 6 feet away from the shotgun if we’re to see the small parts. Closeups would have been useful.
You should watch the whole video before commenting. There are several close-ups.
Also, You're welcome for this free informational video.
I can not for the life of me get the charging handle out... I've been at it an hour...
You have to push the bolt back into the bolt carrier and it will line up to pull out. That said, this is not a good place to get questions answered in a hurry. Hit up our customer service next time.
