- Last month, we had our good friend James Reeves of TFBTV come out and compare the LTT1301 and A300. If you are in the market for a new shotgun (or an additional LTT product to add to your collection), then this video is for you.
This video is the ULTIMATE Beretta 1301 versus Beretta A300 Patrol comparison. In this episode of TFBTV, @JamesReeves answers this burning “1301 or A300” question with the help of three experts: Famed shooter and gunsmith, Ernest Langdon; the notorious second generation shotgun instructor, Matt Haught; and Ben Grundwerg, a clever Beretta Product Manager who helped develop the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol. The A300 is 66.66% of the cost of the 1301..the question isn't "Is the 1301 better?"..the question is "Is the 1301 33.33% better?" Obviously, the A300 is a better value.

The 1301 Mod-2 is most definitely 33.3% better than the A300 Ultima. I have both. 👍

Funny how a year later, the A300 has proven itself with just about any shell out there and then some…I think Ernest saw, at the time this video was made at least, that he didn’t have much room to make a buck like he does with the 1301 so he put it down very subtly….
No one mentions that the a300 is 7+1 and can be ghost loaded for a total of 9 with 2. 3/4” shells, where as the 1301 is 6+1 and cannot be ghost loaded. You can buy the + 2 tube extension for the 1301 though

The A300 is no slouch and would be in my safe had it come around sooner. Thanks for sharing your visit. Looking forward to what the LTT version evolves into.
Good to see more collab content. In a few months I have to look up what an import and proofinig of of certain LTT goods would cost me.
I really appreciate the way you look at the price point for the guns you bring to market. "...we've got a valued shotgun that is a good price point, ...if we start throwing a bunch of stuff at it...just buy a 1301..."
You've build guns that have everything one needs and not a bunch of crap you don't.
The three pistols you have built for me, all on point to what the shooter needs and while cool they don't fall into the trap of "Tacta-cool expensive crap". Thanks for what you do.

I bought the 1301 after watching your review. Added the shotgun cards, sling, light and optics. I figured if i was putting my life on a gun, i wasnt looking for a bargain.
Beretta probably would have been better off pricing the 1301 closer to $1800. At current prices I feel like the vast majority will go for the A300UP (as I did). The advertised 30% faster cycling and self cleaning system isn't worth the extra $500-600 to most of us. We will never outshoot the A300 and it's reliable enough for most people to clean it once or twice a year 🤷♂️. I just feel like Beretta is competing with itself rather than having the 1301 compete with the M4 and the A300 with the Mossberg 940

Have the 1301. Love it. Have an M2 that has been nothing but trouble for years. Been to the smithies about 10 times. Nobody can fix it (FFFF = failure to feed final fire). 1301 is FAST, reliable, smooth, less felt recoil than my M2. LOVE IT.
my LTT didn't cycle Federal FliteControl 1145 fps low recoil, could be the cerakote though, just have 30 rounds through it so far, but I did see videos where it cycled that exact load just fine so just keep that in mind, because that was a huge selling point for me and at least as of now I gotta stick with full power buck which messes a bit with my shoulder( had surgery 2019)
Your gun should cycle FliteControl 100% without any issues. If it is not, you should contact our customer service team. In fact, it should cycle most standard bird shot loads as well.
I really hope you guys bring out a LTT A300. I would be on that buyers list. Been just waiting not to spend my money on an A300 when I hope you guys bring your version. Best wishes
We are looking into that. It is a great shotgun out of the box, and it is hard to upgrade it without adding too much cost.

Probably not worth it. the parts are not that hard to make better. The reset is short already, clean up the fire control group, DONE!

I was under the impression they already did? However, it is correct that not much is needed. Trigger pull could be shorted a tad, reset is good. I would like less slack/take up however.

Wish the new a300 patrol came in a compliant state version. My state does not allow over 6 round mag tubes for semi shotguns 😢
there is probably a larger follower that will limit round capacity.
NOW do the Stoeger M3000 next to the A300.

Have you messed around with the Buck Kicker choke? Cant run slugs when its installed but it seems to be legit

Out of curiosity, is there a reason using GGG now than Aridus stock adapter? I’ve notice the build list are GGG now.
There are several reasons. But yes, we did switch to the GGG adaptor that has a few improvements including a buffer system for the bolt.
Make either one feed the "shortie" shells reliability and Langdon Tactical will be able to print money on command!!!
As for looks, I like the 300 better. Smoother and more simple “traditional” look.

I AM LOOKIG at 1301le I would likecto know the difference between 1301, 1301 tactical, and the 1301le looking for info
The only difference is the LE version usually has the Pistol Grip Stock and a Fixed Cylinder Choke. Other than that, they are the same.
Will the 1301 Tactical load, cycle, and fire the Aguila 1 3/4" mini shells??
We have not tested that, but we understand from other sources that it will not reliably run those short shells.
Doesn't' sound like the 1301 is $900 dollars better in function. Is the LTT 1301 one cooler? Yes. My biggest complaint is folks using a square ACROS optic on the well rounded lines of a shotgun. The Micro T or H just look better.

Just ordered mine today in the bronze. Just bought the a300 3 days ago. Haven't even shot it. Got the email from att and was like'take my money please' 😅. Probably gonna sell the a300 to my ffl so im not gonna shoot it. Also have the 940 pro w red dot. To me the 940 feels better than the a300. Pretty sure the 1301 gonna be my baby tho.

I’ve messed with two 1301’s now that had an issue with the lifter sticking. A slight nudge to one side and it’s locked into place rendering the gun inoperable. Has anyone else experienced this?
Have not seen that on any of the guns we have used or worked on.
When is Beretta going to release a tactical foregrip for their 1301 TACTICAL?

James is calling the A300 a $900. Shotgun.. it's NOT.. it's a $1000. The 1301 shown by Landon Tactical w/ dot sight is more like $2250. That's what your really looking at here , just say'n 😢 The A300 is the best deal by far ❤. However the 1301 LLT IS THE BEST SHOTGUN YOU CAN BUY PERIOD ! NO QUESTION !
Fair point. The 1301 is a fully tricked out gun. But from a recoil stand point, it really does not matter. You are correct though, the A300 is a great value.

For another thousand dollars there BETTER be a noticeable difference.
I’d love to see beretta stop being Fing tards and ship the shotgun ready to go. Instead you have to get the freaking LTT to make it an actual fighting shotgun.
All I put on mine is a light and it is ready to go, don’t know what you mean
If they did that you would be bitching that it cost too much and that you, and nobody else, needed a buttstock with better ergonomics, adjustable length and cheek piece height, a red dot optic and a smoothed up trigger.
Sadly, there are rules regarding shotgun capacity for imported shotguns. Beretta may start building them in the US and that won't be an issue. Benelli has to restrict their civilian M4 shotguns for the same reason. If you increase capacity there could be issues regarding how many US parts are in the shotgun. I think most people ignore that when they add a magazine extension but it could become a legal issue. I ain't a lawyer so check it out yourself. Look up 922r as a starting point.
Mr. Reeves, why did you pull into a handicapped parking spot acting all cool? Tossing your keys, being Mr. Smooth. Suppose a disabled veteran or other handicapped person pulled up? Not being a good role model. Don’t you want to set the right example? There are plenty of laws we don’t agree with but, that is one law we can all agree with. Same as don’t pass a stopped school bus with the stop arm out. Not cool.
OK, he did not stay in that parting spot. Those are just the ones out front and did it for the video only. I can assure you that no handicapped person or disabled veteran (the shop has several of them) lost a parking spot. It was just for effect for the video.

I suppose he drove 120mph on the way to shoot the video? Did he shoplift just for the video but it was cool. Cool people set the proper example. To be respected by people, do the right thing. How many times have you seen the police going 100mph without lights? Did you respect that? Of course not because if he caught you, you would lose your license. No one is perfect but, if you want to be respected and be a positive role model, you do the right thing, especially for the video. That way kids see someone to respected, because he is respecting others, doing the right thing. Never and I mean never parking in a handicapped spot. Do you know how I often I catch people parking in handicapped spots who aren’t?
@@michaelsurratt9593 Point taken sir. We are sorry for offending you and others. I can assure you that no one at the shop was offended. Those spots are open every day of the week, as no one in our shop needs them or chooses to use them. No one was prevented from parking where they needed to park. It may help you to know that our shop is not open to the public for walk in traffic.

Wow, James Reeves, pretty shitty to park in the handicap spot like that. REALLY poor showing, and that you included it as your opening speaks VOLUMES on his and Langdon Tactical's character.
I understand where you are coming from, and normally I would agree. You need to understand that that our shop is not open to the public and that those two handicap spaces are never used by anyone. They moved the car right after that shot was taken, and it was just taken for affect as that is the front of our building. I can assure you that no one was prevented from parking there that would have needed to park there.
