    Will this work for USB type of connection running on MACH3? Your machine demo is using those pararrel port printer connections.

    Hi, many thanks for your script, it is very usefull. I have the same version for mach3 as you have, but had one problem. When running the X- or Y- script it gave back a DRO that was multiplied with 10000. The Y+ and X+ worked fine.
    It was solved bij getting the negative number diffrent. doesn't make sennse to me, but it worked. Perhaps it can help other people if the get the same results. (at least it seems to work in my case)
    Changed : SetOemDRO(801, "-" &VarStandOff + VarGageThick + (VarProbeDia/2)) 'SET Y DRO
    To : SetOemDRO(801, -1 * VarStandOff + VarGageThick + (VarProbeDia/2)) 'SET Y DRO

      Thanks for letting others know. I can see how your edit works, I'm just now sure why on some systems the original programming doesn't. Out of curiosity, are you using a USB connected system?

    i have a big problem...
    And i think that is from the chinese driver...
    If i run the script manually...
    I get the correct position of X center..
    X=0.0000
    If i run the script by the program..
    I have values:
    X-5.6984

    X-8.7765

    Hello Charlie,
    I tried your script with a 6040 Router from ChinaCNCZone. This has a USB controller and none of your script work or some partially worked but then I could not repeat the results more than once. In addition I got many errors. In particular, when I run the edge finder I get " Maximum travel reached...." which I tried multiple distance but still the error pops up. but this error in not consistent and once or twice I was able to succeed but they the DRO was not peftectly zero after the measurement, but x was +12 microns and Y +19 microns on the display. but after I was not able to measure it anymore. The error keeps coming back.
    For the " external center finder" I get the same error right after the probe touches the first side. Once I was able to touch one side and when the probe went to the other side it stopped giving me an ( Hope I remember correctly 322).
    For the "internal center finder" in a circle ( i checked the circle option) the probe touches one side, goes rapid in the starting point, moves to the other side and after it touches goes rapid back to the opposite diameter and it stops with an error "error on line 277 -Internal error .
    In addition a couple of times once it stopped, the machine started moving again on its own with no reason. fortunately at very low speed......it is scary and fortunately I used foam with aluminium tape to test all the options.
    Unfortunately nothing works or is extremely inconsistent and dangerous to test on real parts.
    I hope you can find the magic solution for this.
    Thanks a lot for your hard work.

      My spindle came already isolated, possibly because it's a DC brushless motor. That's my guess anyway. Others with your issue have made isolating probes or isolating plastic sleeves for their spindles specifically for probing.

    Hi Sir,
    I can see you are an expert..! I hope you can help me..!
    Can you demystify some of my worries..?
    There is lot of confusion regarding the reliability and consistency of mach3 as it is PC based and USB or Parallel port.! Lot of people say that it may behave funny in the middle of a project and it may ruin the entire job..!
    which can be caused by slight voltage spikes from nearby high power accessories like VFD or Motors. And relying fully on PC for CNC operation is not recommended. I am so worried about all these..!
    I am not sure how much immunity against such HF-RF Noise shielded cables can offer..!
    But dedicated CNC controllers like Masso and RichAuto are insanely priced.! and I don't have access to USA or Euro Based other CNC Controllers here..!
    People have also mentioned that If signal voltage is high (24v or higher) It can withstand such interferences..!
    But mach3 operates at 5V only..! So there is high chance of signal contamination..!
    Is that a huge concern..?
    Mach3 Boards are affordable.
    But If I cant use them for longer projects , then there is no point in spending money for all the parts which are still expensive..!
    I am so worried..!
    Secondly,
    I have seen in videos that
    The baud rate that mach3 communicates at , is not adequate to drive powerful servos..! !
    So Only steppers at low power application is possible with Mach3.
    That is so discouraging..!
    Can you help me?

      Sasa sasa. Hello. To date, I have had no problems using Mach3 with my CNC. My only experience with Mach3 is with the machine I currently use (been about 6 or so years) and helping others (with programming and such). My particular setup is a small 3020 CNC using the parallel port. The operating system on my CNC's PC is Windows XP. I mainly do Engraving with it, so my run times are not very long (probably up to 15 minutes at most). I have not experienced the issues/concerns you have mentioned, so I do not have any information to help with noise interference, voltage concerns, or USB connected systems. There are other creators here on UA-cam that use Mach3 and have bigger machines and are running much longer programs than myself. Sorry I don't have more information for you.

    I have never found it useful to use a probe, it takes too long. I just jog to the zero position, zero Mach3, and you're ready to go. Why is probing useful?

    • @sunny5rising
      @sunny5rising  Рік тому

      Its usefulness depends on what you're trying to accomplish, really. Yes, it does take a bit of time, especially if not necessary. Sometimes eyeballing is all that is required for a job. Other times, jobs require more accuracy. In the case of my X/Y scripts here, you can accurately define edge zero, corner zero, part center, hole center. They can also measure a hole's average diameter and its X/Y out of roundness along with measuring internal and external span widths. Of course, not everyone will need these tools. Nonetheless, to me, that's why probing is useful. :)

    Unfortunately there are no good instructions to setup usb for first time homing setup. Dont seem to be any way to zero machine coordinates. Cant find an edge if you cant find home. I run all axes to the switch and when it activates each switch I back off until it is no longer activated and set soft limits and home. Continue for all axes and then I need to zero there but no way to zero DRO/machine coordinates. Seems to me that that for newbie one of the most elemental settings on any cnc machine would be to keep your drive components in the workspace. Pardon my ignorance but how do you zero machine coordinants? Ive gone to settings and tried zero from there but it always puts some value there other than zero. WTF?

    • @sunny5rising
      @sunny5rising  2 роки тому

      About your Machine Homing... When you activate the home switches, do the “Home” LEDs light up on the Diagnostics screen (M1Home, M2Home, M3Home)? What happens when you press the “REF ALL HOME” button on the Program Run screen?
      If you can't figure out what is going on, it's still ok to use my scripts. They use Work coordinates. I do recommend turning off the Soft Limits if you cant zero the Machine coordinates though.

    Dear sir, I am facing big problem with my Mach3 cnc machine. Here, we face frequent electricity cut off problem. Sometime when electricity cut off, all the X, Y, and Z value in mac3 are changing when restart the machine again. Can not start from the same point where it stopped to work. It wast my expensive wood. I want to start from the same point where it stopped.
    Is there any solution to solve the problem? Please could you help me to solve the problem?

      I have had the same problem with a power outage.. and I've also had my motors bind up and lose position.. I've solved the problem of losing where 0 is on the work piece by incorporating limit switches that I'm also using as home switches.. if you lose the true 0 position some how, for example, power outage or in my case too week of stepper motors, e-stop or when u restart just re-home the machine to 0 by pressing the ref all home button beside the dro's. Machine will go home and re zero, as long as u started cutting with machine zeroed the same way, it'll start back in the same spot. You may have to re zero the work piece but that's as easy as using edge finder again.. hope this makes since..

    Ok, I find a way to solve the problem without any modification for you guys who using usb:
    If you have problem on -Y and -X with 10x more numbers (like 320mm) it´s JUST the "VarStandOff" on the start. I dont know why but cause this issue if you set at "1.27" but if you set without "dot" it goes ok and everything perfect..
    So I set everythink in solid number (MM) and going to share for all of you
    (obs: I set probe and thick to 0 as I use outside).
    Just change this values on the first part (you can only change the Varprobedia, but I prefer do everything without "dot":
    FOR: -X -Y X and Y:
    VarMaxDistance = 25
    VarFeedRate = 127
    VarStandOff = 2
    VarProbeDia = 0
    VarGageThick = 0
    ---
    FOR EXTERNAL (circle or not)):
    VarMaxDistance = 25
    VarFeedRate = 127
    VarStandOff = 2
    VarProbeDia = 0
    VarGageThick = 0
    VarApproxSpan = 0
    VarSafetyGap = 6
    ---
    FOR INTERNAL (circle or not):
    VarMaxXDistance = 147
    VarMaxYDistance = 223
    VarFeedRate = 127
    VarProbeDia = 0
    VarGageThick = 0
    Hope I help you on something.

    I tried this on my machine and got a few errors on Mach3 v3.041. After reverse engineering the whole script I found out all I had to do was change my VarStandOff, VarGageThick and VarProbeDia to whole numbers, as "VCATCH" was returning the operation between these variables with a decimal point and mach3 apparently didn't know how to input decimal values into my xyz coordinates, the first time I tried it I got -28715 or something like that, good thing I have limit switches, cuz I sent it g0x0y0 before checking where the machine thought it was. I guess it could be easily fixed if you don't have a whole number diameter probe, but I don't want to read through VB script or Mach3 documentation right now. Thanks for sharing, Charlie!

    In both Unit cases
    The code should be:
    VarSpanDia = Format((VarSpanX + VarSpanY)/2, "##0.000") 'CALCULATE DIAMETER
    another set of parentheses need to encompass the (VarSpanX + VarSpanY) before the division.
    Case 0 'BOTH
    Select Case GetParam("Units") 'SET INFORMATION FOR STATUS LINE DISPLAY
    Case 0 'MM
    VarSpanDia = Format(VarSpanX + VarSpanY/2,"##0.000") 'CALCULATE MM DIAMETER
    VarSpanDiff = Format(VarSpanX - VarSpanY,"##0.000") 'CALCULATE SPAN DIFFERENCE

Maybe its because i use a ethernet poort or something with offsets that i didnt take into account. But after it gives a offset of -1,26.... It adjusted that number too -2361,00 consistently. Does anyone have some clues why this could be?

    • @sunny5rising
      @sunny5rising  3 роки тому

      Yes, I noticed also that the change log doesn't show 066. Not sure why. I downloaded 066 several years ago as the standard download from the Mach3 website. My understanding is that it was determined that 062 was more stable for the majority of users, so now when you download Mach3, it will be 062. Not at all sure what the differences are, but to this day I haven't had any problems with my 066.

That "Set Z" button is only used if you want to use Mach3's default action with setting Z.
