    Tony. Thank you for one of the very best UA-cam reviews I have ever seen! I love how you did not try to be a comedian, nor did you have distracting music playing. Plus, you got right to the point and did not tell stories about things that did not pertain to the UTV review. The audio and video quality were excellent and I liked the way you broke things up into short, detailed segments. And, rather than request "like, share and subscribe" at the beginning of the video, you delivered excellent content first, then made the request, which I was more than happy to do. And instead of using a hand held GoPro with the camera jerking all over the place, you actually know the benefit of using a tripod! Well done!

    I have an rtv x1120 a canam hd10 defender and a 900xp ranger.
    Hd 10 is used at home the ranger and kabota used for my biz. Kabota will get the job done but when production is important I’m getting in the ranger. It’s not just speed it’s moving material across ruff terrain. Take them both loaded at 20 mph across terrain and the ranger is in a different world. Power? A 900xp will pull like crazy. People talk about belt trouble but a little common sense goes a long way. All of them have trouble. Last night I put a rear axle bearing and a tie rod in the rtv 1120. Today I could hear a u joint going out in the ranger. You use them and they break you abuse them and they break faster. Kabota bed is better. Ranger bed is great if you don’t abuse it. I load mine with bobcat and I have had to squeeze plastic together with bolts. But I’m abusing it. 29 top speed is fine on job site it’s how fast you can go between 0 and 29 that’s the issue.
    Just one guy’s opinion with all three brands

      James you definitely have more hands on experience. You’re right if you abuse your equipment I don’t care what brand it’s not gonna last. That’s interesting about your comparison between the 900 & teeth Kubota.

    I got an 1100 two weeks ago over 50 miles on it already. I love the cab with heat and stereo. Better than a 4 wheeler in the winter. I worked trimming trails took me two days to do over two miles of trails now I have to get on the other 4 miles of roads to trim by spring. Makes it nice to get out but have a place to warm up. Peace

    We have the 1100 for our local fire department that we use for wildfire season and then put on a 6' boss v-plow in the winter time. We are very happy we bought it about 8-9 years ago. Like you said it's a absolute work horse. We put a 75 gallon skid unit in the box with foam and a pressurized system for wildfires. Only disadvantage I see with ours is the weight but it's to be expected with it being a diesel with everything on it. I would definitely recommend it. Stay safe my friend

    • @TonysCoolTools

    The 25 mph is one of the reasons I bought the Kubota. My boys help out and don’t need them flying around. Lol. I did wimp out and buy the cab. The air conditioning is nice in the hot humid summer days.

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  Рік тому

      Sean you are an extremely smart father! There is no doubt that nothing good happens with speed. When I’m plowing the heavy wet snow I single digits I rethink my idea of not getting a cab model. Fortunately with the Boss V-plow I’ve cut my plowing time in half to about an hour so I can suffer in the elements that long.

    I purchased a 900 eight years ago and really like it. Occasionally it is a little hesitant to shift into reverse. I did bend the tailgate when I used the dump with a trailer hitch attached. The gate caught on the ball when I lowered the box.

      @TonysCoolTools  Рік тому

      Raymond the Kubota diesel UTV's haven't changed much over the years. In my opinion its a tank and gets the job done.

    Excellent choice. If my experience is any indication you will use it for at least a couple of decades. I bought a 2004 Kubota RTV900W brand new in 2004 - the work place model with the hydraulic dump bed. Mine has a 3 speed forward hydrostatic transmission - L, M, H, N, R.
    If it doesn't want to go in gear, gently blip the throttle, then it will shift. If it doesn't want to come out of gear, do not reef on the shift lever, put your foot on the brake and give it a few seconds for the transmission to release and it will come out of gear easily.
    I bought a simple fiberglass Kubota accessory roof that fastens to the roll cage and wouldn't be without it.
    Mine is approaching 4,000 hours with all routine maintenance performed on schedule and works just fine. Do not slack off on the maintenance. Diesel engines need clean oil, clean fuel, and clean air. The transmission needs regular fluid and filter changes on schedule.
    Mine is a first generation unit so it's had a couple of upgrades to make up for new design issues, but like you say, it's one tough reliable machine. Mine is still on the original tires. It's been parked inside its whole life.
    One caution: Don't force the shift lever. On a slope, put your foot on the brake and wait for the transmission to lose pressure, then it will shift easily. Forcing it can lead to a problem, at least on first generation models.

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  Рік тому

      Really appreciate all your input on the X900. Experience sometimes is the best teacher.
      I noticed using the break helps the shifting as well as stepping on the throttle. You’re right about the maintenance which is the key for longer life on equipment.

      Larry the Sidekick models are getting very popular as a real workhorse.
      Though I didn’t know how much I would use a hydraulic dump it really is a back saver for sure.

    Hi Tony. I noticed in one of your videos (can't seem to find it), you have a nice rack system on the bed of your RTV-x900. Can you post a link to that rack? I'm seriously thinking about upgrading my 2005 Ranger with a Kubota RTV-X900 but really need to be able to be able to bring my chainsaws with me without putting them into the bed. Polaris has a nice Lock and Ride system, but I'm thinking RTV for the diesel grunt power, and hydraulic dump bed. Thanks!

    Tony isn't your Eastonmade still over twice the towing capacity of the Kubota?

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  Рік тому

      Ironically it is but It handles it with no problem and I definitely don’t tow long distances just around my Woodyard. Top towing speed with the Eastonmade
      is 5-10 mph.

      I absolutely adore diesels. I work mostly with older tractors and diesel cars like vw. The main benefit of diesels is there is no spark system. The absolute pain in the ass that spark systems can be whether its distributors, spark plugs, wires, coils, control modules or anything inbetween, especially on multi-cylinder engines. A diesel removes an entire complicated system from the engine and it is truly a thing of beauty. Once you work on and use diesel engines you will never go back. They are fundamentally better than gasoline engines in essentially every way.

      I am a huge honda fan and own a ton of their stuff, including a foreman 400 -1996 for the farm and trail...that never broke in 27 years. For real farm caliber equipment...i vote for diesel.

    Tony, no disrespect intended, but you don't understand small engines as far as gas vs. diesel. You kept saying how GREAT the torque is in that little Kubota diesel. You even stated that it has 40ft.lbs. of torque. Well, the Polaris gas 1,000cc engines have more torque than that. Also, when you were quoting specs, I forget what the Kubota is rated to tow, but I DO remember that it was considerably less than the Polaris Ranger, which is 2K. In these tiny engines, the ONLY place that diesel really wins out over gas is in mileage/fuel consumption. They DON'T offer anymore HP or torque than their gas counterparts. Then you talked about how long that diesel engine will last. Well, IT WILL, but the machine around it won't. You'll end up with a body that's falling apart, and an engine that's still good. I'm not bum-wrapping your machine. The Kubota IS a good, solid machine, but the diesel doesn't offer anything more than the gas model does other than mileage. And as you already know, it's also considerably slower. It has no more HP or TQ than a gas model offers. Sorry buddy, but you got caught up in the sales hype.

      Jeff thanks for your comments. I truly wasn’t trying to pit one brand against another. After doing a lot of research I knew I didn’t need a UTV that did 60mph, what I was looking for was a workhorse. When I talked with a few farmers that had gas JD Gators and had Kubota UTV’s they all said they loved the power the Kubota had. The other endorsement about getting a diesel Kubota was most municipalities and road crews use the diesel Kubota’s, I didn’t see one Polaris.
      Without a doubt the Polaris is the number one brand out there especially for trail riding.
      I don’t see any tractor manufacturers using gas engines on tractors and I used the same analogy about a UTV. After 2years I’ve been extremely satisfied with the diesel Kubota UTV.
