Martinelli has been rubbish for a complete year
The bar has been set so low, for a player performing at a big club. the excuses from James is as troubling as Martinelli's performance, this is why we get bantered

Simply not god enough.
Nobody is expecting him to be god
People are overreacting, he's clearly out of form and needs our support to get him back to his best. The chances he's been missing recently couple of years he was putting away on a consistent basis. In fact he was one of our best 1v1 finishers. That clearly shows the ability is there he just needs to get his confidence back.
How long? His last good season was 2 years ago, eventually he'd have to go and at least hold bench for that LW to be upgraded permanently. Can't wait around when challenging.
Well I’d give him this season and also arteta needs to balance that left side hopefully timber and merino do that, then let’s see how he does.

When Trossard got a decent run of games at the end of last season he did great. The notion that hes a super sub exists because he was used as one. Trossard is just solid, clutch, sub or not. With the midfield fully fit Trossard, Havertz, Saka is the strongest front line. Seems obvious imo. I'm so confident they'd get numbers together.
Martinelli has the football fundamentals of amateur and he’s 23. What have they been doing all those years with him

For me, if he was hitting the target consistently, it would be different. But when he skies it several times in a game it speaks to something else that is going on. He needs a reset to the fundamentals.
