    Thanks Dr Tara, your video always super informative and easy to digest. my brother has brainstem bleed in last July, he admitted ICU for 2 weeks, then moved to normal ward for 2 weeks and have been back home nursery and recovery. we get some therapist come to home. his recovery is miracle for us and also dr mentioned the same. His physical all good but he feels his head, hand n legs numbness and tingly sensation which make his hand and legs not so much energy when he stands. he can started to hold spoon and eat by himself. appreciate if you could suggest what's exercise should he do for expedite his recovery. Many thanks for SG/ID❤

    Thanks for this great video 👍. I initially thought my ankle problem was spasticity and probably still is to some degree. What I've noticed is right after I remove my articulating brace, I can passively move my ankle both up and down, past 90 degrees, so my point is, will these exercises work for my situation. Another fun fact, the condition you are describing by standing with your eyes closed and losing balance, in aviation is called spiatial disorientation, it happens when pilots enter in the clouds and can no longer see the horizon they lose the awareness of what's going on with the plane, unless trained to use the instruments

    • @laurawyant6181
      @laurawyant6181 Рік тому

      YES! They do wear out after about 18 mos ?? depending on how often you us it. Bought two, one for outside shoes, one for my town shoes. Discovered I needed a heel lift inside off foot for equal balance. They sell them the right size. Did you know they just have come out with a new model, STRAPLESS! Anyhoo, I was lazy and became too dependant on the brace, so I did not continue to exercise my bad foot, now my bad foot has become worse (over the years) than it was right after my stroke.

The doctor said it would only be a 50/50 change that the foot drop would recover. In addition to the foot drop, I just had a right hip conversion 3 weeks ago. • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  Рік тому +2

      Hi Melissa, thank you for your question. Side note, I have worked in almost every setting and I have worked with a ton of CNAs. I have so much respect for the grueling work that you all do and that you manage to do it with such care. That said, knowing that you are going to these lengths to find ways to help your patients is so so rare (when you have so many other things that you are responsible for). God has truly blessed you and is using you to bless others. Please keep doing what you do. To answer your question, I can't think of mechanism where a UTI directly causes bil leg weakness, but indirectly, I can see this happening (lack of mobility, confusion etc.) I have also seen people who following a UTI (and maybe some increased time in bed), be extremely fearful of standing so they will not push through their legs when you try and assist them up to standing. Here is a video that might help you to help her regain the confidence to trust her legs ua-cam.com/video/Igc4Lynvng4/v-deo.html I hope this helps!

      i hope you see this.
      i realize what you do is hard work. But not all put effort in their jobs. i have a little sister(49 young) suffered with a brain aneursym followed by two strokes. she is in a rehab right now. every time i go in there, all you see is employees standing around. my sister can't feed herself and have had a nurse already tell me she didn't have time to feed her so she will just feed her through a tube. needless to say i was and still am furious. not only that but she is getting stiffer and stiffer. they are just leaving her to lay there. i feed her when i go in and move her too. but i work and so does her kids so its not enough, they let us down. thank you so much for caring, god bless you

    I had my hips replaced 4 yrs ago. Foot drop only happened in the last year.I am waiting for nerve conduction tests. I've been given a sleeping brace to help keep my foot upright in bed.

      Thanks for the question Scott! I am not familiar with this type of treatment for stroke and/or the rationale.
