I've just jumped from Nikon to Fuji and into C1 for raw edits. Layers are really powerful, and the colour adjustments particularly for skin tones are just out of this world. One technique not mentioned here is to select a colour or colour range and make a mask from that selection. The colour selection can be very precise and I've found it wonderful for correcting colours in cases where say an internal wall has been photographed but the light levels vary from window to window etc, leaving patches of differiing hue or saturation.
As a recent convert from Canon to Fuji I have started using CaptureOne instead of LR. It's taken a bit of getting used to, but I have to say, I'm loving it. Great vid.
I cannot thank you for enough for these videos on Capture One! Your tutorials have changed my workflow and post processing to a much higher standard than I thought possible. I personally would be exceedingly grateful for more on Capture One. On what you might ask? I have no idea as I’m learning through you. And by the way ..... love the “FRESH” ideas.
Damn this is so much better than Lightroom. Nice that you explain why you use layers and how you can decrease the opacity of the colour grade layer for instance. Amazing idea
can you do a tutorial using styles in capture one, just started using capture one. Bought it mainly for the tether function but I,m starting to prefer it to LR
Really good video. New to Capture One. Your tutorials are good.

Nice job :-) Go on with your C1 tutos ;-) and the layers could be great when applying styles in capture one or, more interesting even, when transforming a color into a layer ; you forget to speak about this ;-) Ciaoooo and bests regards from Colmar, FR...JF
Im checking out your C1 tutorials in sequence and in only 1 hour i have learnt a lot.. great job.. In LR, the option Vibrance is more useful than Saturation. Isn't there anything similar in C1?
Is it possible to merge two pictures, picture A and picture B, by using layers and either add object B in picture B to picture A or remove object A in picture A with merging in picture B? Thanks.
Can you save an adjustment layer and apply it to a different photo? I have tried to save it as a style, but I keep getting a warning on the photo I am trying to apply it to that says "Could not apply local mask"
12:45 Gradient tool, you're gonna affect everything except the light house. How do you revert that the same way you can in lightroom so that the lighthouse is affected and everything else isn't?
C1 is not intuitive. C1 is LAGGY when applying changes even on an i7 cpu. C1 only looks at the first folder - not subfolders when importing. AND WHERE IS THE HISTORY PANEL? fail. also no dehaze. PLUS you also have to name all your layers. work. work. work. Makes lightroom seem easy.
When I first started seriously processing RAW photos I picked up the Sony version of C1 a few years ago. I found it almost immediately quite easy to use and certainly faster that LR. I'm really not sure what the problem is with your setup. I'm not using C1 2020 Pro which is intuitive and fast and would hate to have to go back and use LR. By the way I started with C1 version 9.

I have really enjoyed your C1 tutorials.. by far the best tutorials on UA-cam..

That's really great to hear! I'm definitely planning on getting back to Capture One ASAP so watch this space :-)
Thanks for all the videos - I'll certainly download a trial and try processing photos in both LR and C1 and see how they compare.
Many thanks, another great tutorial video. Has convinced me to go ahead and get C1.
I am really enjoying these tutorials. You're a great teacher!
Thanks so much Kathleen :-)
Thank you for the videos, new to editing in capture one and you do a great job of explaining the features

Many thanks for these videos. Very much Appreciated. May I suggest video on sharpening, clarity and accurate masking the edge of images.

Brilliant. I think I'm just starting to figure out how powerful this software is.
Thanks park Cameras!
Great video, thinking of joining Capture One as I’m new to all this, so thankful that you explain at a nice pace...👍🏼
Awesome! Thanks

When you said, I'm gonna use this as my "exposure layer", I thought, "oh I get it!" 3:10
Your creativity is a good teacher
Thx for this great tutorial. Also, could you tell what is the song name behind it please ?
Good time
And how to change a blend mode of c1 layers? For example, from a normal mode to screen or soft light one?
Better than the LOTR trilogy!
You could of used 'Fill Mask' instead of the gradient mask for the first edit. Great vid.
Can you do a B/W background with a color layer of item or person??

I've never gotten layers until this video.

ctrl I ;-) or "invert the mask" in menu :-) JF
@ thanks so much man, 2nd time coming back to this reply
Layers not available for fuji RAF files...

I agree, if easy and crappy is better than great and a little more work. Personal preference I suppose.
