@@dieseldawg7132 Hi, thanks for watching. So on my vehicle the hex bit is 14mm to undo the centre hub bolt from the driveshaft. Another viewer disagreed as he said on his it was 17mm but I can only say on my model, it's definitely 14mm. Worth measuring first if you're not sure as I imagine VW might have used different sizes or types on different models.
@@dandantherepairman thanks yea I tried the 14mm the other day n was a bit small also had the 17mm, ended up driving to the shop just to get it since I didn’t have one at home I am working on a tdi Passat 2016. I’m needing to do. A turbo replacement and of course alot of things need to come down from the bottom….
@@dieseldawg7132 ah yes, I expect that'll be a fairly big task. Mines a 2.0 petrol so no turbo to worry about luckily. I find it's very beneficial to have a range of large hex bits, triple square bits and torx bits to work on these vdubs, you never know what surprise bolt types going to appear next lol. Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly 🤞
17mm NOT 14mm... just made the mistake of trusting your video. ordered the 14, ofcourse it doesn't fit. please work on that next time. ps.s i own a vw passat b55 like you. great video otherwise. and when i get the 17mm ill use your trick :)
Hi and thanks for watching. I have to admit though, no mistake here, my hub nuts are 100% 14mm Hex so if yours aren't, I can only assume VW used different sized hub nuts on different models or the last person to change yours maybe used a different brand or type to the standard. I think the wheel bolts might be 17mm from memory but I was showing and referencing the centre hub nut in this video. Hope it goes well and glad you found it useful 👍, ps I can only vouch for my model in this video, so if you have a different engine or gearbox etc, my trick might not work so that's worth bearing in mind.

What size is the socket for the hub nut
