    Thank you sooooooo much! I know how to write the expanded configurations but not the noble gas configurations and now thanks to you, I know how! All the other videos were too fast for me and they didn't even explain the s block, d block, p block, and so forth.     Thank you so much but why is the "d" block 1 less. When you said Fe = [Ar] 4s^2 3d^6 how come it is 3d, why can't it be 4d^6?

      Experiments showed that these electrons are not acting as valence electrons, so they must not be in the outer energy level, so they must actually be in a lower energy level.
