- Thank you to everyone who helped me out with good tips and suggestions for Zwift racing!
Tried to get this out as quickly as possible. Sleep-deprived...
That kick after almost 90 seconds of hard climbing is Zwift gold. You can see that no one else in your category has that - only tend to see in high end B or better.
@@davidhofmayer1031 Thanks! I'm used to it with the racing I do outside! Also, my sports background is definitely more anaerobic and my sub 2min power isn't bad for my weight. Sadly, I don't have an endurance background which seems to be a lot better for cycling in general, but I got into this at age 36 so I can't complain really 🙃. Just very happy to be enjoying a fun sport and community of people!
OUTSTANDING! That is probably THE best finish I have ever seen on Zwift 💥💥 Hats off to you James! And you have earned a new subscriber!!
@@phil_d thanks! Lemme guess ... This is the only finish you've seen of a Zwift race 😂. Just playing. I appreciate you! 🙏
@jameskim3 I don't binge watch Zwift races, but have seen a few 😉 And you toyed with us, 'at this point I was happy with 4th' and then smashed it 🤣
@phil_d I said 2nd! Hahaha. In the moment, that guy was up the road and I thought he was too far. And I was still hurting at 200+ BPM hahaha. Figured he would keep his pace, but he may have gone too hard and exploded. Not sure but I've been there before, so I know what it's like to go too hard too soon haha
Great finish and great editing - hilarious 😂
You’re going places in the indoor cycling YT world 🙌🏻
@@PedalToProgress haha funny you say that cuz we are literally going nowhere while indoor cycling - we are stationary 😂
Great ride 🎉
@@JamesWilliams0 ✌️😁 thanks!
You were WAY more efficient on this race compared to the other ones I watched. Your lower cadence kept your HR about 10 bpm lower than where you normally sat. It also looked like you spent less time in the red.
Great job and well-deserved win.
@@velmersglue thank you! Yeah, for sure, the tips helped me out here. No denying that the drafting was way better. These kinds of efforts when I'm on the limit, I've done them many times, so I am decently comfortable at measuring out the effort if I know the distance or time duration based on the feel. Things all came together nicely! Winning is a great feeling, but I am always satisfied with any result when I know I gave it all I had 👊. My long-winded way of saying yes and thank you! 😂🙏
That was so amazing!!! That’s why I love Zwift!!!
@@zwiftalete 🙌🙌🤙
Very very nice! Great finish and great result! Nice to see the advices paying off 👍💪
@@CoenP yeah! For sure helped to have those tips and to stick to it during the race. Thanks! 👊
Dude! Awesome race and awesome video! You crushed this!
@@drewbuffington haha thanks! 🙏 Have you been racing recently?
@@jameskim3I did this race last night! www.twitch.tv/videos/2329351085
Good job!!!
@@byroone thank you! 🙏👊
Hell yeah dude! Great work and way to surf wheels. Great kick at the end too.
@@thespartanbishop thanks! You are my man-spiration! 😂✌️
Fantastic job! Your drafting looked very efficient. You look to have mastered the art of tailgunning. I especially like how you moved closer to the front during the last ~4k when attacks were likely. Congrats on the W!
@@Scott_Hammack thanks! There were a few digs there but nothing too threatening, so I just monitored and kept it in my pants 😂
Great win. Awesome. 🙌
@@RyanCondon thanks! Definitely felt good to stop pedaling with a win hahaha
What a GREAT race James! 🎉🎉 Congrats!
Hahahah 😂 it was GREAT! 🤣
Congrats!😄
Thanks! 🤙 I basked in the glory for a day. But I got limited sleep and my recovery is nerfed lol
@ I normally take 5 grams of Creatine powder with milk to recover from a hard training. :-)
@robertnj8122 I'm taking 5g creatine with protein every day and lifting 1-2x per week
Congrats on the win!
@@vanm27 thanks! 😁
Nailed it this time! Ans that powerup at the finish, beautiful. But you showed you have amazing sprint, being able to produce this kinnsnof watts at the end of a race, and the feather was just a small addition, wouldn't make much of a difference without the power. I think you would have won even without it :)
@@lolczyslaf thanks! At one point I really did think that second place was the only place up for grabs, but I figured I needed to go all out for about 250-300m, which is when I went after activating the feather - I actually was hurting and considered using the feather at about 500m I think (you see my hand ready to hit it), but I think I ended up using it at the right time for this race. Seems like the guy up front went a little too hard and wasn't able to sustain it for the last 150m, so it worked out! Also kept pedaling to the banner even though I was relatively certain I was in the clear. I've seen the replays of Wout/Alaphilippe/Roglic getting pipped at the line too many times to want to be in that situation 😂
@jameskim3 haha nice one! Really impressive. And it's very common in zwift that people who start to sprint as first ones usually don't finish in the same place getting passed by by ones behind which have help of the draft and much more speed :)
@lolczyslaf like the real world a lot of the time hahaha
You are a Champion, El Campino!!...If you lived near me I would want you to train me.
@@jeffcreed365 haha that's a very high compliment 😆🤙. I love training! I'm more than happy to chat about training too. Not an expert, but I've listened to what every expert/coach says and done what I can to train as best as I can. Do you have Strava?
Sick!! Congrats!
😘
WOW!! I absolutely loved that. Your positioning was amazing and superb race-craft. UA-cam provides the answers! I smiled throughout, but the sprint was amazing.
If you fancy joining me on my Zwift based podcast some time, it'd be great to have you! I think youtube will block if I provide contact details, but in my channel description,,,
@@ZwiftyZwifter thank you! I appreciate the compliments and the offer. This race just panned out very well haha. Stroke of luck, if you will! Somehow, I feel like I am unqualified to be on a podcast 😂. I did check out your channel though. I will go through the videos when I get a chance 👍
@@jameskim3 Having received the rebuff, I should reveal that I only wished to embarrass and humiliate you...LIVE!!! Mwahahaha.
But seriously, I think it'd be fun, which is my only aim. If you change your mind, let me know....
congrats good race 👍
Thank you! 🙏
Check out, Eric Schlange’s videos on best Zwift bikes and fastest swift wheels for flat/rolling and for climbing races. I tried to post them on UA-cam, but it won’t let me do it directly.
@@daletoce5118 I'll check it out! I saw a website that is pretty fantastic to compare frames/wheel combos etc
well done James, superb finish. Positioning in the draft looked great. 500 is going to be sooner than you think.
Next try racing in camera 3, especially if you plan to add steering. I use an Elite Sterzo as its quite fun to turn the bars and point my front wheel at something.
The rider that disappeared may have had connection issues, they drop in and out of view.
Love those paper note, I did the same until I became familiar with the routes. I still do it for Hill Climb races or newer routes having a distance, gradient, and target power.
@@stevej_on_a_mtb yeah the paper helped a lot! I figured that guy had a connection issue, but it left me with a larger gap than I intended to have 🤣. Anyhow, is camera 3 first person view? Do you think that's the easiest view to manage? I feel like third person view might be easier to see the people creeping on your sides and rear, no?
@@jameskim3 yep 1st person. I get a much better perception of the speed and acceleration of the riders in front of me. You do occasionally miss someone coming from behind, but that really only matters in a sprint finish and if they roll me then they were going to win anyway.
Just make sure to push over the crest of hills so you have momentum and try not to be the first rider into the wind.
3rd person is ok for TTTs and for streaming, so viewers can see your avatar.
@@stevej_on_a_mtb got it, that all makes sense 👍. Maybe I will switch views as needed at diff parts of the race 😆
KABOOM!
@@marcmyers3034 💣💥
You Asian guys are fast riders!!
@@jeffcreed365 trust me! My non-asian friends are faster! 😆
so when is the next race----your peeps want to know...
@@daletocemd4781 hahahaha I am mixing VO2 and race for my intensity during the week... I'm trying my BEST to not let races take over VO2 days buuuuut... It's difficult lol 😆. I honestly decide the night before or the morning of hahaha. I might do a race tomorrow morning 😑. Might actually do my VO2 workout before or after the race, if my legs are up for it haha
Nice finish 👍 what time do you usually ride? I can maybe join you on next ride 😄
@@rk55582 most common time I ride is 5-8am EST
What happened was that rider left the ride. When his avatar disappeared as did his name in the list in the right side of the screen
@@rosqi9381 yeah! I figured. Left me a bigger gap to close 😂
Or he got disconnected.
powerhouse finish. 😂😂
@@tonylo6013 powershack finish! 🤣 My friend consoled me by saying "watts are irrelevant if you get the W" 😆
just wondering what you spit out at 0:40...?
@@Jay-nt2ew I spit out... Spit. 😂 Unfortunately, I have some thick mucus/post nasal drip that a lot of times causes me to gag etc so I have to consistently clear my breathing passageways 😔. A lifetime struggle...I actually had a deviated septum surgery 1.5 years ago to help with my nose always being stuffed and it helped a lot on that end, but I still have some stuff to manage with my sinuses haha. I also am allergic to every grass, tree, and weed that is native to my area... I have been getting allergy shots for that and it's been amazingly helpful for me haha. Indoors, I always have my spit bucket 🪣
@@jameskim3 ahhh I see... still puttin' down the watts tho 😄
