Bitter Bronx resident: they took the train models we had and gave them to the 7 line (seen in the video) and they gave the 6 line the much older trains that ran on the 7 even though the older trains break down more (think no AC wagons in the summer) on the more crowded 6 line!
NYC subway stations are old and dirty, the city is expensive, and it must be difficult to live there in the winter (especially Staten Island.) Never-the-less, NYC is the best city to visit in the US...
The stations look a bit tired and needing refurbishment but the trains look amazing, especially compared to how they were in the 70s and 80s with all the graffiti.

Everyone is talking mad shit about NY trains, NY trains are the heart of the bigcity. No one needs them to be luxurious. As long as it takes you from point A to Z (which it can do). Plus with the millions of tourists/locals/visitors/etc. Its kind of hard to keep up a brand new look, when its the oldest public transportation in the US.

They're almost the same... as Alstom, who refurb the MARTA trains and I believe did the propulsion system on the newer Breda MARTA cars also did some of the R160s and R188s of the NYC trains. That's why for them you may see the same R188 train car but one train may sound different from the other, as there are two different propulsion motors they use. The other sound I don't like very much lol.
