NYC Subway: (L) Train Action in Williamsburg and Manhattan
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 бер 2016
- This film focuses on the (L) Train, which runs on the 14th Street Line in Manhattan and then crosses the East River to continue along the Canarsie Line in Brooklyn until it terminates at Rockaway Parkway.
The (L) train is currently the only line in New York City, which uses automatic train operation (other lines, such as the IRT Flushing Line are in the process of being upgraded). This makes the (L) train quite fast and fun to ride.
This film shows some (L) Train action, first at Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, but most of the film focuses on 14th Street-Union Square, 6th Avenue, and 8th Avenue stations in Manhattan.
Enjoy!
Filmed on June 15th, 2015 - Авто та транспорт
The automated announcer lady does sound a bit funny, but it's probably the best announcement system I've ever heard. Impossible to mis-hear, ev over the hustle and bustle of fellow commuters, and that's why I love it (the voice, that is).
they use the same voice between Forest hills 71 avenue and rooselvelt aveunue i think
Charles M o64r
Its also the same voice at Jfk airport and some EAS alerts.
Same two recorded voices on all NYC Subway trains, the lady making general announcements and the guy who tells you to step inside while the door closes.
“TAKE OUT YOUR METRO CAAAAAARDS, AND GET ABOARD THE LLLLLLLLLL TRAIIIIIIIIN, but your ride will be short lived, cause you’ve arrived at elimination station, consider your names in the death note...”
Because your dreams of your hoisting up the Lombardi trophy
HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY.........
*DELETED!!!!!!!!!!!!*
For the LA Rams, for your failures of having a offence, it's time for you to get on the L train
I rode the L train as a kid. I always took it to union square to transfer to the 4 5 and 6 to grand central for my junior elementary school, and to bleecker street for junior fitness practice. After junior elementary, I took the L to 8th ave to transfer to the A C and E to 23rd street or penn station for my senior school until I moved to NJ in 2008. By then, they were still introducing the R160's. Too bad the L got Alstom ones, like the one in the beginning. Long live the R42 L train. The R143 is still a nice train though.
I grew up with R143 and R160 Train
Living in Brownsville I'm close to the New Lots stop, the L train is a quick trip into Manhattan without going through the downtown bottleneck.
For some reason I like the noise the train makes when it leaves the station
Anchronism Mods. Same
Same
Thomas and friends gmod
Same
EEEEEEEEREEEEEEE that's the sound i like it to
I used to take this every day to work for 3 months, so ... the nostalgia! 1st Av -> 8th Av
I miss the old Carnarsie line trains. The conductor was actually inside the train. They had red and straw cushion seats with 25 watts lightbulbs and ceiling fans. Of course no air horns just a whistle.
You are going some time back!!
good video :) and the woman who smiled in your camera, great XD
I like when it said “ Brooklyn L train is now arriving”
The old Station announcements are so nostalgic
the funniest part was at 14th Street union square when the lady walked in front of the camera and got so embarrassed! im glad you didn't edit that part out! Great video btw!
And the LED screen is different on both trains. The R160s LED screen has a black border while the R143s LED screen has a white border
I love NYC subway color theme aesthetics so much. 😎
This is the train I get to use everyday I go to work.
Kai Foti why?
Lol...the girl at 2:40
Take out your metro cards...
And get aboard the LLLLLLLLLLLLLL train
MAH CHILDHOOD TRAIN :DD
@@klivoz1869 but your ride...will be short lived ... Because you've arrived....
AT ELIMINATION STATION!!!
And you go somewhere different
Bruh
Whenever you're not uploading, I watch old videos from you like this one!
may you please do washington's WMATA system ?
Warning: Don't step on the 3rd track it's active and it will shock you
Warning: stay back of the line don't go closer to the edge
Warning: before stepping into the train watch your step
Warning: wait before the train comes
FOLLOW THESE RULES
From Los Angeles Clippers to Pittsburgh Steelers.......I will take you to the L Train to go home.
The only thing the (L) needs is a 10th Avenue extension, but it would have far stop spacing to make up for the line being 2-track.
The new stations are:
- 72nd Street - Amsterdam Avenue (1)(2)(3)
- Hell's Kitchen - 57th Street
- 42nd Street (7)
- Hudson Yards - 34th Street (7)
- High Line - 23rd Street (7)
- 14th Street - 10th Avenue (7)
Great video footage thank you
The R160 trains have the flag above the MTA sign while the R143 trains have the flag below the MTA sign
2:40 woman smiles and walks straight in front of camera
love your video
Hi, my toddler loves your videos. Do you have a supercut with each train in alphabetical order? He loves pointing out what train is on the screen. Anyway, thanks for these.
Hello, I was wondering how warm it can get on the platforms in NYC and how warm it gets in the cars? Do they have AC?
+Martin Kong Owald They do have AC, which is rather strong. As a result you freeze inside the cars and due to the exhaust heat of the ACs which is blown into the tunnels and platforms, the platforms can become uncomfortably hot.
Great video, thanks.
+zophar70 Great vids from a great city...
but which one is better the local or Express trains
Hi! I'm new to your channel and I just wanted to say that your videos are amazing! I love people watching and subways and your videos are the perfect way to satisfy those things! I also feel like I'm there at the station and it really makes me want to travel more. Can't wait to see what more your channel brings!👍🏼
+bralessi92 Thanks for your comment! Have fun with my videos :-)
1:31 that door opened quickly:P
Moving here soon!
Thanks for posting! Helps make me feel in NYC when I'm not there
+Kevin Sauler You're welcome :-) Makes me feel like that, too!
Kevin Sauler: lived in Williamsburg for twenty years- hated the shit out of that fucking place!
mrzoperxplex to each his own lol
Nostalgia
The New York trains are always the famous train station
This is music for my ears :)
Like all your vids
thanks for the ride i.i
I think UA-cam's taken the curiosity out of doing things because, somewhere out there someones already done what you've just thought of doing.
Got lost af in Williamsburg trying to find our way back to Queens. We couldn’t find the right subway station to get to the N train. Ended up having to take an Uber 20 minutes because it was 4am and we were done walking around🤣
y’all was in da wrong area of brooklyn
@@ZAZAWORLD316 Well… oops😳 Nothing happened to us obviously
At the one-minute mark I missed “Stand clear of the closing doors please.”
This is nostalgic
And in between the cars the R160 has 2 doors but the R143 has 1 big door
So are the J/Z trains also being upgraded to CTBC? They do have R143s and a CTBC sign at Chauncey Street.
+Rasheen Peacock Interesting. I wasn't aware that they would be upgrading the J/Z. Maybe the sign is there because of the intersection with the L train at Broadway Junction.
+Luftschlange I was ambivalent on an upgrade only because of the M train after Myrtle. I mean the J already has a few R143s. But I think you may be right about the intersection at Broadway Junction
the announcements voice is strange, the next... Brooklyn bound... L... train will depart in... 5 mins
Notice the difference between R160 and R143.R160 has a flag 🇱🇷 on top of the MTA sign.R143 has the flag 🇱🇷 on the bottom of the MTA sign.
the full screen is nice [/;]
I bet the R179s have CBTC preinstalled!!
last stop of r68 g train is 47 street poch
Take the L.... train
Mejcjns Ksnwbbs t
@WPLU572 Trunked Radio is it? I thought it was J/Z line.
@@michaelmorales1475 From the wiki, the Canarsie Line is the oldest line built that is used by the MTA.
@@shadowmamba95 Oh, Interesting.
Jamaica Line is the 4th line to exist, Myrtle Avenue is the 5th, Franklin Avenue is 3rd & Brighton is 2nd.
wow i didn't know that nobody needed to drive the L train
This train is where it should be in Brooklyn or Queens ?
It only goes to Manhattan and Brooklyn.
the L is called Hipster Express, kinda like the 7, except that it's called International Express
and how do you know that?
+Evan Moise The 7 serves several different Asian American communities within Queens.
+BNYWTrains a portion of Asians
+BNYWTrains and many more
What does Hipster mean ?
Yay I was pestering Dj with a request for L also!
What happened to Bedford Avenue?
PONTIFIX MAX
And even the 4 train has the same sound as well the irt flushing line 7 train or the Manhattan bound
The reason is the same inverters (Adtranz/Bombardier 2-level IGBT-VVVF) for the 3-phase AC motors (model no.: 1508C), which are used on the R143, R142A/188 and on the MBTA Type 8. As a result of the number of inverters and motors produced being greater than the number of trains built, MARTA's CQ310, CQ311 and CQ312 took the remainder.
What things can subway trains can do? Taking u to the restruants, go to the beach, go to the swimming pool, go to the sprinkers, and take u. And To the fast food restruants.
R143 On the (L) Trains Reminds me of R142As on the (4) and R188 on the (7) Trains

anybody spot that mirror in the first train scene
I love New York and me too I like a noises when the train leaves
3:38
7:24
R143 is my favorite train
This video inspirated me to warriors film
I-beam and rivet construction??? Built in 1900?
I think of the 1930's
The Willianburg bridge was built way after the Brooklyn bridge
If the R179 had Automatic Train Operation function.
What kind of camera do you got?
+R160_8838 Your question is answered in the closing titles: A Canon EOS 70D.
+Luftschlange I think the f train has it as well I saw it going as fast as the L
Luftschlange sorry for the late reply but why does the L line have a countdown clock but on the other letter lines they don't
1:11 What's that mirror for?
Its on the beam.
Yes it is

Hi guys i saw this R160 and R143 L train
Whats with the dude at 10:02...he like leaps outta frame, instead of getting on the train...LOL
*_•reshirm•_* That was eighth Avenue the last stop in Manhattan.
l love subway train

The first train here was actually an R160 hence the VVVF.
R142A/143/188: Async (250-500Hz→500Hz→500-300Hz→300-310Hz)→11P(SHE)→7P(SHE)→3P→W3P→1P
R142/160: Async (380Hz→665Hz→1290Hz→alternates between 1430Hz and 1235Hz)
R143 sounds the same like R188

So are there no drivers on the L Trains??
+3ƧЯ3V3Я | REVERSE Studios Isn't there still a driver who doesn't really drive but still pushes a button to tell the train to drive itself to the next station? At least that's how it's done in London.
@@Luftschlange Yea, in the 5th Car there’s usually a person overseeing the train
Yes it was
Last time R62A 3 and 1 train we're racing
In 2019 the l train will be closed for a few years
days: no L trains between Bedford ave and 8 ave
nights : no L trains between Broadway junction and 8 ave
weekends: no L trains between loimor street and 8 ave
that's what the schedule is going to be during tunnel construction
Because it's on electric tracks
AWESOME video Luftschlange I love your nyc subway videos. Any chance if you get down to rockaway could you please do some vids there please. Please keep them coming much appreciated. :)
+Grant Adams Glad you like my videos! Unfortunately I don't have any unedited footage of Rockaway so far. It was on my list of places to film at before I moved away from NYC, though, so maybe I can get there when I'm in NYC next.

You have arrived at elimination station
I like the R160
heaviest train i ever seen all metal out
D train actually the heaviest

The trains don't have conductors in them?
they do
I believe that the New York City Subway uses GoA 2 opposed to GoA 3 and, 4 which are completely automated. GoA 2 is semi-automatic and still requires a driver to start the train while the ATO system controls braking.
@@Fumxe2 only the 7 and L lines are automated with CBTC

the E and L trains are the only trains automated
no just L right now

Kai Foti is right, only the L and 7. However, the MTA says that the next line to get CBTC is the Queens Blvd express tracks (the E and F trains), as it is running 29 trains per hour and is still overcrowded as heck.
