For those that don't know, the way accuracy is calculated is that you subtract one word for each error that you make. So if your speed was 40 word per minute with two errors your adjusted speed would be 38 words per minute.
should be noted that typing random assortments of letters like that isn't going to help you when you're typing actual words, just helps the fingers to figure out what they are doing. Also unless you have only just started to use a keyboard you probably know where all the letters are by memory whether you think you do or not, its just that the brain doesn't know what to do when its not habitually looking at the keyboard. I pretty much tripled my speed after a while by just forcing myself to not look at the keyboard, the first week or two are gruelingly slow and you'll want to just say screw it and switch back to whatever you were doing before but after a while it gets easy really quickly.
You're correct but it's a good learning tool because with random letters you can't anticipate what the next letter is going to be which forces you to look at your copy rather than the keyboard-this also helps with your accuracy.
I started typing at the age of 16. That was many years ago and I still love typing. I am attracted to any website that talks about typing. I always learn something new even though I have taught typing all those years.
As a keyboard specialist, I cannot do anything else where there is no keyboard on the premises. That is another reason why I could not accept a job less than what I had done before my unemployment tenure.
Keyboarding has been my best skill since I was 12 years old. That is the reason I treated myself to a microcomputer in the year 2002. The microcomputer complements my modern-day typewriting that I would call "keyboarding."
I liked the video, just a small addition: If you are used to your own typing, it is like hell to change it to this, slow and painful. I gave up learning it many times before, but I started today again (before your video, I just find it when I had some rest in practice).
1:47 Another thing you will notice about the older typewriters there was no key for the number 1, 0, or exclamation mark. the upper case L doubled as number 1, the upper case O doubles as zero, and an exclamation point was made by typing the apostrophe located above the 8 and back spacing and typing a period. If I remember correctly the shift key at the bottom left controls only letters and shift at the upper right only numbers. I'm not sure why the period is over the shift key, my guess it has something to do with typing telegrams as the slash is used more often than periods.
With the shift keys it works best to use the shift key on the opposite side of the keyboard, i.e. for the letter 'F' you would use the shift key on the right side of the keyboard.
I guess I've been touch -typing since I was in like 7th grade. Never knew it was such a difficult thing to learn because it wasn't for me. It actually wasn't that hard to learn at all. Just years of practice and I was able to improve my typing a lot.
nothing is tough, people look for shortcuts. It sure looks nice to see someone fast and thinking i want that...what they don't see is years of practise. Everyone has to start somewhere.
@@chillpill1266 in primary everybody would be super slow at typing like im saying 10 wpm or 20 so i thought i was fast and didnt need to change anything then i did a typing test couple of months ago and got 30wpm and then realised ur not supposed to type with just the index fingers so now im learning the formal way of writing and just in the first month my wpm literally double to 67max and 55 avg
You're wrong about the shift keys. Use the shift key on the right for letters typed the left hand and the shift key on the left for letters typed with the right hand.
When you use the backspace key, or any other keys you use your pinkies for, it's important, that the index finger stays on the home key (f or j) while pressing the key (e.g. backspace, enter ). You have to stretch your fingers a little bit, but that is the right method to keep the right position.
"www.typingtrainer.com/" this website helped me a lot to do so, i used to type around 24-26 wpm before learning how to touch type, now thanks to this website and 2 more ill list at the end of the comment, I can type and average of 61 WPM in only 8 months, and trust me if i could do it you can too! I hope you see this comment and go give that website a try, and hopefully by this time next year you can leave a comment on here saying that you reach your goal so you can motivate people to do so as well, just remember NEVER TAKE SHORTCUTS! 10fastfingers.com/typing-test/english typeracer.com Best of luck mate!
please give me some tips. can u relearn to type in this method i have typed for years with to ever learning the method. how long does it take to get 45 wpm
When you mention a website in a video you should always put that as a link in the description. People will forget the url, then go back to your video hoping to find it. Then they have to scrub the timeline for a whole video just looking for the website. Also, looks like that website was purchased and turned into something rather crappy actually.
How do you reach the right crtl with your right pinkie? It feels like I have to stretch it out too much to get there. I with there was a way to swap the menu key with right Ctrl as I never use the menu key but need to use the right Ctrl all the time.
Urban legend: The QWERTY keyboard layout was developed for technical reasons because of archaic machinery. NOT TRUE! There was a careful study of letter frequency in the English language. The keyboard was designed so the most frequently used letters involve the least amount of finger travel, for greater typing efficiency. If it were just a simple antique artifact, the newer alternate keyboard layouts would have been considerably more popular than they are.

That goes without "saying."

so touch typing is like foot walking?
walking with the feet without looking at the ground.
or driving a car without looking at the stick-shift!!!

Aren"t we suppose to use the left shift for capitalizing right hand keys and vice-versa.
