I played trombone at a pretty high level for 10 years and I didn't even know that a trombone could do what he's doing. Amazing!
Wow! That’s saying a lot. It’s phenomenal.
Exactly, sounds like a really strong French horn player
Check out Wycliffe Gordon
Just 21 years old
You can still do that ! Just add your own tune and flavor ❤
As a trombonist I can say with confidence that’s how you give a trombone life.
well ladies and gentlemen we have our challenge. do you accept?
As a trumpet player my lips just fell off.
@@StevieLee2114 As a saxophone player, I still have my lips xD
I can’t get enough of this video. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this before.
I've been playing trombone since 1994. Only one word.
As its blocked by the filter. I'll instead share a quote from a long passed trombone teacher.
"There comes a time in any trombone player's life where they must attempt to strip paint off the wall. Once they have accomplished that personal discovery, they must choose. Did they like it? Or did it scare them? After that discovery lies the heart of our instrument's beauty as the herald of the middle."
This young one has made paint scared.
I ain’t even gone cap.. I cried a little.
Me too bro. Must be these onions sitting next to you lol
This guy is amazing. I wish I could do that lol
me too bro. I thought I was the only one. Beautiful.
dang
i wish I could do that but my instrument is euphonium
Bro was playin like his tuition is on the line . Beautiful
His children deserve scholarships the way he was playing lol
As an athlete, if I hear this coming from my band I promise you I can’t be stopped.
And that's why drums were often on old battle fields. And why music is so present at sport events every where
I promise you!! Im not dropping a pass all game!
Knocking a mf helmet off first play I promise you!!!
@@bpnation37 that helmet going into orbit and don’t tell me “unnecessary roughness” like sir do you hear the music?
@@realtimeflow1221 facts! Don’t care nothing about that flag ima be telling them to play it again 😂
idk what hypes me up more, the solo or the reaction the band and crowd behind him give him. This was impressive asf
It all worked together to create a masterpiece 😂

@@1216Entertainment William Bilal was doing this in highschool he took it up a notch in college
As a musician it is refreshing as hell that some still have a strong and pure passion for music. This was an outstanding solo
Exactly! When you can see and feel the passion someone has for music, it’s an amazing sight
For real, you could see his whole fkn soul was in it. Takes more than skill alone to give a trombone that much life

I concur AEA!!
Dudes soul was leaking into the pipes and broadcasted it to the world and we all felt that shit.
Basically
Both you and I SEARCHED for this performance and you know it!! These musicians played their souls out, fantastic performance!!
Years later this is thankfully making the rounds again! Woooo!!
Hello to 2023!
I literally just searched this : "guy puts his soul in trombone." And youtube in fact knew exactly who I was referring too❤🔥
The other version sounded better but wasn’t as long
I had to come find this
I just had to watch/listen to it again 😂
I got to hear it every couple of days! Was a trumpet player myself. Love good music.
The band knew he would go off, but the slow realization of just how HARD he was taking it is beautiful.
apparently they didn't know, it was a surprise.. that's why they they look so confused to begin, then just go crazy
The soul in this man’s playing is unreal! It sounds like an alto sax, it’s so emotional! Well done to whoever the people in this band are
He definitely made it talk and sound like more than a trombone!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that!
Excellent comparison
I think that's a girl isn't it?! Well WHOEVER ITS THE JAM!!!
Brotha got more soul than a sock with a hole
The GREATEST Black and Blues I've EVER heard!!!!!!

I don’t see it happening either! Not any time soon anyway. This was CRAZY!!

Facts!!
How can I save this to my phone and make it my alarm, because that makes me want to get up and move
The best part of this is the fact that they all tuned to themselves at the very start and made the necessary adjustments, each one them are great players.
A lot of people could easily miss that, but that’s amazing catch. You can tell they’re all more than capable musicians.
Could you explain that for someone with no musical background? I'm always interested in quiet displays of skill.
@@Precaricat they sounded a little out of tune at the very beginning and adjusted to each other by ear every time a different group came in. It's hard to do correctly in an outdoor group setting but they did it perfectly because you can hear how clean the harmony becomes.
The trombones that came in on the second melody weren't on the same note together. Either one of them weren't in the correct slide or their embouchure was incorrect. But they heard it, and immediately adjusted
Was thinking the same thing. You can hear them tuning each pass. Truly amazing
I DON'T CARE, HOW OLD THIS MAY BE, AND GOING TO BE. THIS WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST TROMBONE SECTIONAL SOLO EVER.

It makes me think of an electric guitar wailing!! That's insane!!
Isnt it amazing how the mind works and allows you to hear things. You can just tell when someone is that gifted at what they do.
OMG YEESA!
This is no doubt the greatest trombone playing I have ever seen. I’ve never liked playing classical music or slow quiet pieces, because they just lack energy, but this..this radiates enough energy to power a city. I don’t know how to explain, but this just ignites something in me that gives me life.
That is exactly what I'm always yearning for, songs with energy, with that emotion, i was trying to find more music like this but there's nothing like "music with energy" to search for, i just want songs that hurt or fill my heart and soul with enjoyment
I can't even tell you. How many times I have rewatched it.💣💢💯
Classical music lacks energy? Wtf you don’t listen to enough classical music.
@@vhscopyofseinfeld Really dude, really??? This is "wtf" worthy for you?? Are you *really* that surprised that someone isn't all that well versed in classical music? *Sigh*, You may want to sit down for this next bombshell......that's *most* people under 60. Crazy I know!!! Especially since the only time the average person is likely to ever even hear some is during the soundtrack for a movie (50% chance that some dickhead "artist" used it in a re-mix ). You think anyone regularly listens to it on the radio? Well they don't. Even if they wanted to, it's 50/50 on whether there's even a station that plays it, and even if there is, then it's an AM channel and nobody knows how the fuck that even works. It's even less likely if the person isn't black (or African American...no offense intended to anyone ) and/or from a non-musical family and they don't play an instrument themselves.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, anyone that actually does "listen to enough" , is what people like to refer to as an "outlier".
I now know the taste of purple❤,
I can feel the touch of streetlights as they go by on the late night car ride.
I can feel them play and pluck the strings in my sternum.
Tears and blood become the same and take physical form in the weight of each note.
…This performance makes me feel things…
Somewhere in that crowd there is a mother that is very proud of her son. That was crazy good!
And father
I Can’t Even Explain It. This Shit Is Beautiful To The Point I Feel Emotional. Buddy Put Some Real Smoke On This
The fact that he played that trombone like it was a sax.... -whew!- that whole section crushed that. They all complemented each other and gave that energy back and forth between the soloist and the line was.... oooooooweeeee!
He is a beast. My eyes are tearing up. Most be these onions next to me lol

I am not a musician, and I don’t know the first thing about a trombone, but this is incredible! It’s amazing how a star is even recognizable to the laymen. Holy cow!
I’m only familiar with piano and violin but at a basic level but through reading the comments I learned that it’s not easy at all to make a trombone sound like that. All I know is I love what I’m hearing
He was one with that instrument... His soul released itself through each note 🎶... Still Amazing every time I hear it.

Lol thanks for dropping by. I watch it every time it pops up as well, regardless of what channel and which version.
I played trombone for 6 years in school. I picked it because everybody else picked trumpet, sax, or percussion, and I thought the slide was cool. Band was just another class and I went through the motions until I joined jazz band on a whim. There was something to the feel of the music and the unconstrained possibilities of the slide. Junior year of high school, I played first part, so the band director wanted to funnel me into the marching band. Marching practice overlapped with jazz band, so it was one or the other. I picked jazz. The director went to the administration and got me booted from jazz band, telling me "you're going to march." I said no. He put me on 4th part and I spent the last two months of the school year playing nothing but whole notes. When the year ended, I quit and haven't picked up an instrument since then. Twenty years later, I'm here, listening on a loop, crying because this man's music reminded me of how I felt the first time I got to improvise a solo. Gonna go did out my old King and see if we can feel something good together again.
so sorry... had a similar experience with a dictatorial band leader
