Action Jackson is awesome. End of story
Yeah we need to go back to goofy action films like this just for a minute 😎. Even bring back the type of practical effects used as opposed to overly relying on cgi all the time 🤔.
@@CLDJ227
Kinda did for a minute with The Expendables movies.
@@CLDJ227Technically those are still around but in indie films.
Damn Right
Yes indeed 🫡
RIP Carl Weathers, you will always be Combat Carl to us :(
🥊🕊👑
No Action Jackson slander will be tolerated! Classic
None
Right. You roasting Van Damme, Seagal, Stallone and Schwarzenegger cheesey flicks? (NOPE)😮
Amen. I love this movie. The crime was there wasn't a sequel.
It’s a shame that Action Jackson didn’t get the respect it deserved.
What did you expect from Korey, especially when he brings a Yt dude in who doesn't understand the Culture.
If a movie has actors from Die Hard, Commando, Lethal Weapon, Predator, and Big Trouble In Little China, it almost has to be good by default.
Can't forget Denise Matthews (Vanity) from "The Last Dragon"
My childhood! 😊 All are CLASSICS! ❤
@@arw1985I love The Last Dragon too! ❤
Don't forget Poltergeist?
It's like someone had a list of every single 80's character actor and decided to hire them all. I don't think I've seen this many "that guy" character actors in a single project in my life. Damn near every other scene in this is like that Leonardo Dicaprio pointing at the TV meme from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It's "oooh oooh, it's that guy from that movie!" every two minutes.
Carl Weathers had so much natural charisma. Loved him in films like Rocky, Predator and Happy Gilmore. It's been a few years since I watched Action Jackson, but I want to rewatch it soon. I wish he was a leading man in more films, especially action movies during the 80s. He was a great actor that deserved more roles.
Vanity fine as hell though.
Word yo😉
fo' sure
Yes she was!
Yes lawd
Yup. She was fine back in the day. R.I.P. to her too. ❤
RIP Carl Weathers as a little black kid in the 80s he was one of the only black action hero to look up to he will be missed I loved Action Jackson. Plus Vanity was fine.
all facts brotha 🤴🏾✊🏾
It was cool seeing familiar faces in the movie alongside Carl Weathers like Sharon Stone, Craig T. Nelson (Mr. Incredible) and Tom Wilson (Biff)
And, Vanity a/k/a Denise Matthews
RIP Vanity!@@tmmartinesq.6216
Sergeant Jericho "Action" Jackson‼️ 🕊️🕊️🕊️ #RIP
We requested this and DT delivered! "Hot! Hotter! Hottest!" ❤
You mean Lieutenant 😁
I had this on VHS as a kid...saw it 1000 times, love it to this day
Me too! It was the epitome of the 80's action films! My heart is broken 💔
Before there was Denzel, Wesley, or Will, there was Action Jackson! Rest In Power Carl Weathers!
Denzel was around in '88
@@Rockscissorspaper But he wasn’t action star then.
It was one of the "Proto-80's" film. Raw Deal, Cobra, Bloodsport, Die Hard, Commando, Rambo, Robocop....A generation of over the top action flicks
I saw Bloodsport so many times I knew most of the movie word for word.I gotta go back and watch Cobra that's one of Stallones movies i only saw once when I was really young. Most of Arnold's movies I saw in the 90's I didn't really see all his 80's films.I only daw Predator 2 weeks ago and I really wasn't that impressed.I mean it was cool and especially for that time but something I didn't need in my life.I only saw Running Man a few years ago when I was in the house for the pandemic. The yep Conan movies and Red Heat were the only movies of his I saw that were made in the 80's.I'll watch Commando,Raw Deal, and even Twins one day
@@UA-cam_Street_Drifter Me and my buddies wore out at least three copies of Bloodsport on VHS back in the day!
@@blockbusterunderground Bloodsport and Kickboxer will always be my favorite Van Damme movies
Action Jackson is a classic. Nuff said. RIP Carl Weathers. He was my favorite actor😔😢💔💔
Forever love Carl Weathers. Action Jackson is a classic ❤️👏🏾 the best is when he back flipped over the car
It was a front flip, but I agree!!
This movie is like the Avengers of 80's character actors. Tom Wilson, Bill Duke, Miguel A. Núñez Jr, Brian Libby, Branscombe Richmond, James Lew, Charles Meshack, Dennis Hayden, Al Leong, Robert Davi, Ed O'Ross and Mary Ellen Trainor. You may not know most of the names but if you are at all familiar with 80's cinema then you know the faces. It's kind of nuts.
Al Leong, Robert Davi, Mary Ellen Trainor, and Huey Lewis looking guy were also in Die Hard
Sonny Landham too! I was shocked Maria Conchita Alonso or Rae Dawn Chong weren't in this!
i'm glad he was still getting love and recognition in his final years through working on _mandolorian_
RIP Carl Weathers and Denise Matthews (Vanity) ❤️🌹
Carl Weathers was and is amazing, he should have been the star of so many action movies and other genres of his choosing.
This movie is a classic classic. 1988 I saw this in the movies with my Grandma. R.I.P Carl Weathers Action Jackson, Apollo Creed
I’ve always loved Action Jackson! The movie itself can be extra cheesy, but oh so deliciously entertaining! But Carl weathers brings this certain cool presence and intensity that elevates the movie completely
I owned this VHS as a kid. My mom eventually found out the Vanity topless scene and gave it to my older cousins. Still, the movie is fire. A slept on Joel Silver production!
Vanity launched me into puberty when I watched it years ago. It was cheesy but a fun action romp
The day that Arnie passes the Predator handshake is going to be a meme titled "How Carl Weathers greeted Arnold when he got to heaven"
One of the most underrated action movies of the 80s. Weathers should have been a regular leading man after AJ. He had more charisma than Van Damme and Segal combined and had the perfect look for the era.
I am 54 now and I went to see this one @ the theater back in early 1988 with my parents was in high skool 12th grade senior year and working at McDonald's
Carl Weathers, and John Amos
My dudes 💪🏾🙏🏾💯💯💯
Action Jackson is f@cking AWESOME. Just straight up awesome 80's action, cheesy one liners, hot women, simple story, great cast, and EXPLOSIONS galore lol. This absolutely should have been a series, or at the very least, have a sequel. For being his directorial debut Craig R Baxley did a great job. All his movies (Action Jackson, I Come In Peace, Stone Cold) are super over the top. Truly products of their time (in a very good way) and I wouldn't change it for anything.
#RIPCarl
Action Jackson will *ALWAYS* be a cult classic. 🤓
Korey forgot to mention how Action Jackson threw Billy from Predator thru 2 windows simultaneously 😂
That part never gets old. 😂🤣
RIP Sonny Landham.
Thank you for doing this, especially after your heartwarming tribute to Carl Weathers.
action jackson needs a hd release
I will not stand for ANY slander of Action Jackson. Awesome Movie, that should have gotten at least ONE SEQUEL.
PLEASE REVIEW "THEY LIVE" WITH KIETH DAVID AND ROBBY PIPPER
Action Jackson is awesome. I still remember that flip over the car. 😁
Underrated and probably underappreciated. We need to go back to goofy action films like this just for a minute 😎. Even bring back the type of practical effects used as opposed to overly relying on cgi all the time 🤔.
The Original Fast and Furious XD
Action Jackson should have had a sequel
Coach has been in, Coach, The Skulls, Action Jackson, & Poltergeist! Lmao
Underrated! I remember being a kid and waiting for part 2 .
My Mom loves this movie "He Had a Spare" and "How do you like your ribs" are legendary quotes R.I.P Carl Weathers
A. I'm glad you did it.
B. This movie is a sweet slice of 80's goodness, not unlike The Last Dragon.
C. We all know why Carl never got another shot...but he should have. How many bad movies did Charles Bronson and Chuck Norris get?
This movie made three times as much as _Above the Law_ on a similar budget, and Seagal got a whole career out of that!
Saying carl weathers has no charisma has to be the goofiest shit ive heard in a minute. The nerve of Roger Ebert.....ROGER EBERT😂😂 to say that?
Damn I wish Billy was there.
Really wow the nerve of him...
Big Ed was Vanitys body guard
Right, which shows that he didn't really actually watch the movie.
Hell fucking yes! I’ve loved this movie ever since I snuck into it in 1988 at 11 years old. Carl was badass in this movie. Really wish there were sequels. Kinda one with Hurricane smith. And watched his show Street Justice. Another hero passes. Olde we get the more this’ll happen and it sucks. RIP Carl weathers. We all love you and miss you. See you again. You’re the best
That damn Pontiac fiero 😂😂😂😂
This had Vanity naked!! Nuff said!!
She tried hard not to do that scene. She said after in a interview she was in the car cryin.I think she started to get reborn after this movie
My man got hit in the chest with a grenade launcher and fell 150 stories on fire…. This movie was peak 80’s awesomeness.
Carl Weathers one of the few actors that can sport a mustache.RIP
As Cargill says, this is not a good movie, but it's a great one.
Definitely underrated. I just watched this movie again since seeing it back in the 90's, and had a ball. If I had to choose between any Beverly Hills Cop movie or this, it would be this. I'd love to have a movie marathon consisting of: Dolomite, The Last Dragon, Action Jackson and Black Dynamite. It's sad that folks don't always get the praise they deserve until they're gone, but it's great that his body of work is being compiled in so many UA-cam videos. I look forward to watching some of his movies/ shows I'm just now being made aware of. He was awesome!
I remember being so hyped to see this in the theater as a youngster. 80s Gold!
Just realized that Craig T. Nelson’s character is a rough parody of John DeLorean, after all these years…
😮
Good call.
All of the nitpicks Korey has were just common traits of lower budget 80s action films. The flaming body falling from the high-rise happened in like every action film. People had to fall or jump out of a high-rise at some point. Lethal Weapon, Robocop, Die Hard, etc. Coroners were always eating and had dead body jokes. Elite groups of bad guys always pulled the disappearing act in the middle of fight. And car commercial always forshadowed their later use in the film just like in Robocop. All of this was as common as the action hero going shirtless half the film. Shitting these things is like shitting on an entire era of films that you know you loved.
One thing y’all can’t mess with is Action Jackson this movie is a national treasure rest in peace, Carl Weathers
He tends to shut in our Cult Treasures, especially when a Yt dude sits in. Remember how he did The Last Dragon
27:30
Suddenly a random Al Kabong appears! 😁
I forgot that he was in this.
I seriously need to re-watch AJ, as a tribute.
Thanks again for all your contributions, Mr. Weathers. RIP.
Carl Weathers and Sly motivated me through some tough times. RIP to one of the GOAT's
This film was full of heavily used great 80s character actors and soon to be megastars. Korey recognized the police shrink from Lethal Weapon. Well the guy she's with was also in LW as the guy that got freaked out by the lighter roasting Mr Joshua's arm. She was also the news anchor in Robocop. Craig T. Nelson and Sharon Stone were huge gets too. The guy with grenade launcher was one of the terrorists in Die Hard, and so was the asian bad guy. Billy from Predator, Vanity from the Last Dragon, one of the Agent Johnsons from Die Hard, Bobby Sixkiller from Renegade (and a zillion other films and tv shows), and even Biff from Back to the Future were all in this. Damn near every film these actors were in became cult classics.
She wasn’t the news anchor in RoboCop. That was Leeza Gibbons
The car in the fake ad, was called The Halle.Halle Berry was just getting started, when this was made. She had a failed sitcom on ABC, with Leah Remini. She must have auditioned, didn't get the role. So, this was honoring her.
4:18 sometimes I think Coleman will kill Martin with one of his stupid puns... 🤣🤣
"Hot. Hotter. Hottest."
Lol. That sht will always be funny as hell.
About the car in the house, you know it's not a Ferrari... it's a Fiero with a body kit. My house could hold a Fiero on the second floor.
Just saw this for the first time last week and was THOROUGHLY entertained…Weathers is great and will be missed!
Carl Weather's and the actor who played thief meet up again in Tour of Duty, where Weathers plays Special Forces Commander, Colonel Brewster.
Needed billy for this....he would died with that guy falling on fire
Can we take a moment to talk about how good Vanity looked in this movie ?? My god ❤❤
She looked sexier in this movie...but she was a better love interest in the more family-friendly "The Last Dragon".
Jackson running on the street while the cab is driving on the sides...wtf is going on. 😆 🤣
R.i.p .I remember when his character's died in Rocky and the predator I was so sad as a kid
@ 29:00 - We do get an explanation on the big guy though. He's Vanity's bodyguard. He's been following her and Jackson.
Thank you!!! I was looking for this comment!!
@@commentaryking5165 LOL 👍
It shows they didn't really watch the movie or just plain shitting on the movie because of the Yt dude sitting in
The guy who got burned with the flamethrower was named "Thaw".
Action Jackson SHOULD have said "Thaw out."
I sort of looked at Action Jackson as the original Black Dynamite...not quite the parody that Black Dynamite brought to the table...but definitely over the top.
Ed was vanitys body guard the villian hired to watch her, but he really liked her and so he helped jackson protect her, then him since he saw Jackson was a good guy and wanted to protect her also.
LMFAO at 36:25 🤣😂🤣
You can tell Corey didn't want anyone to focus on that, hahahaha.
Didn't even mention that was Miguel Nunez Jr...smh
I knew him most as police chief Hampton Forbes in 'In the heat of the night' seasons 7 and 8.
It is a Good 80s Action Movie! WB really messed up and used the success to propel Carl and this film into a whole Action Jackson franchise.
This movie has tons of 80s action movie staples. The thing about Ebert is that, i know he is revered as this influential critic and i took his opinions to heart back in the day.
When you look back and understand, Ebert's opinions are just that. He's been wrong on so many films
RIP Action
28:10 Action Jackson with the Spear!
29:03 Mr.Ed How the Heck did you get up there!?
34:10 Jackson is nuts!
37:28 Chill Out! Don't make sense Line!
Been waiting years for this!
Now I gotta watch this! Vanity is gorgeous!
Didn't even highlight Action Jackson saying, "One of these days...you're gonna piss me off!"
Rest in power 💪🏽💪🏽
Over the top b movie. The somersault over the speeding cab was insane.
Action leaping over the cab was cool as hell. Yes, it's ridiculous\unrealistic, but it was still cool. As ridiculous as this movie is, it's still awesome and very entertaining.
Action Jackson originally was an action figure by Mego toys, so producer Joel Silver kicked out some money to have the name be used.
After The Rocky saga & Predator, this was definitely C.W.'s action hero moment.
The title and the story alone was killer.
The cast, the action, the humor and the one-liners are just perfect.
Weathers wanted a franchise out of this and the movie did well enough at the box office.
Michael Kamen & Herbie Hancock with the music, very good.
The soundtrack is totally underrated, but still kinda hot to hear.
I was age 8 and the only way I could watch A.J. was with my father, so my mom never knew I saw something Rated-R (good times).
RIP to 6 of the actors in this classic including the Incomparable Carl Weathers.
80's cheese at it's finest and no way in the world you count out this one.
Don’t forget it made $45 million in VHS tape sales too. I bought the DVD. Great movie.
This Movie, LIVED UP TO IT'S NAME. Period Lol....ACTION+COP =AWESOME. Especially if you got a Guy who can DO IT.
It's undeserving of 13%. Carl drips charisma. I still enjoy this movie because he sells it so well.
This roast is long overdue. I've seen clips where Carl advised this was a mix of lunacy and foolishness and he actually regretted making it. I see it as a classic and it's every bit as good as Last Dragon. Possibly Vanity's best movie! Craig T is also a psycho nut that steals the show.
This movie is fun!! Always meant to watch Action Jackson and a few months ago I finally did and enjoyed it!! It is definitely a product of its time, but more enjoyable than I expected, mainly because of the charm of Mr Weathers!!
I might legally change my name to Jericho Jackson.
Has Korey seen RRR?
That's one dead pos car builder😅 This movie is underrated af!
Acton Jackson is a badass/ fun / thrill ride/ classic
YES!! I just spun my blu-ray of "Action Jackson" after learning of Carl's passing. Turn off your brain and enjoy great 80s action cheese! Underrated film!
Now I want to watch this
I’ve always thought Carl weathers was one of the best action Star, May he rest in peace.
Is this why Urkle says, "Did I do that?"
That house is a freaking Taurus. That car scene is basically operating under the same rules as the size of the tour bus in Spice World. Haha.
Tardis
@@wilcee238Got it. Tardis. Sorry.
*
Can you tell I don't watch Doctor Who and only know the reference itself? Haha.
I love Action Jackson my child hood hero
Vanity plays Weathers' love interest, and was actually struggling with addiction when she played this part. Although she overcame, she died too young, at age 57. And Weathers was one of few actors at the time doing his own stunts, he should have been given as much work and star status as Arnold or Sly...but that's Hollywood for you. RIP Carl
Hum jumping over that car, reminded me of Jackie Chan running across the car, lol. And he really did it!
I still remember when I watched Spongebob back in 1999 and hearing Patrick's voice. I knew right then and there that's the actor that was Coach's friend on that show.
