It's like someone had a list of every single 80's character actor and decided to hire them all. I don't think I've seen this many "that guy" character actors in a single project in my life. Damn near every other scene in this is like that Leonardo Dicaprio pointing at the TV meme from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It's "oooh oooh, it's that guy from that movie!" every two minutes.

Carl Weathers had so much natural charisma. Loved him in films like Rocky, Predator and Happy Gilmore. It's been a few years since I watched Action Jackson, but I want to rewatch it soon. I wish he was a leading man in more films, especially action movies during the 80s. He was a great actor that deserved more roles.

Núñez Jr, Brian Libby, Branscombe Richmond, James Lew, Charles Meshack, Dennis Hayden, Al Leong, Robert Davi, Ed O'Ross and Mary Ellen Trainor. Action Jackson is f@cking AWESOME. Just straight up awesome 80's action, cheesy one liners, hot women, simple story, great cast, and EXPLOSIONS galore lol. This absolutely should have been a series, or at the very least, have a sequel. For being his directorial debut Craig R Baxley did a great job. All his movies (Action Jackson, I Come In Peace, Stone Cold) are super over the top. Truly products of their time (in a very good way) and I wouldn't change it for anything.

I'd love to have a movie marathon consisting of: Dolomite, The Last Dragon, Action Jackson and Black Dynamite. It's sad that folks don't always get the praise they deserve until they're gone, but it's great that his body of work is being compiled in so many UA-cam videos. All of the nitpicks Korey has were just common traits of lower budget 80s action films. The flaming body falling from the high-rise happened in like every action film. People had to fall or jump out of a high-rise at some point. Lethal Weapon, Robocop, Die Hard, etc. Coroners were always eating and had dead body jokes. Elite groups of bad guys always pulled the disappearing act in the middle of fight. And car commercial always forshadowed their later use in the film just like in Robocop. All of this was as common as the action hero going shirtless half the film. Shitting these things is like shitting on an entire era of films that you know you loved.

This film was full of heavily used great 80s character actors and soon to be megastars. Korey recognized the police shrink from Lethal Weapon. Well the guy she's with was also in LW as the guy that got freaked out by the lighter roasting Mr Joshua's arm. She was also the news anchor in Robocop. Craig T. Nelson and Sharon Stone were huge gets too. The guy with grenade launcher was one of the terrorists in Die Hard, and so was the asian bad guy. Billy from Predator, Vanity from the Last Dragon, one of the Agent Johnsons from Die Hard, Bobby Sixkiller from Renegade (and a zillion other films and tv shows), and even Biff from Back to the Future were all in this. Damn near every film these actors were in became cult classics.

It is a Good 80s Action Movie! WB really messed up and used the success to propel Carl and this film into a whole Action Jackson franchise.
This movie has tons of 80s action movie staples. The thing about Ebert is that, i know he is revered as this influential critic and i took his opinions to heart back in the day.
When you look back and understand, Ebert's opinions are just that. He's been wrong on so many films

Over the top b movie. The somersault over the speeding cab was insane.

Action leaping over the cab was cool as hell. Yes, it's ridiculous\unrealistic, but it was still cool. As ridiculous as this movie is, it's still awesome and very entertaining.

Action Jackson originally was an action figure by Mego toys, so producer Joel Silver kicked out some money to have the name be used.
After The Rocky saga & Predator, this was definitely C.W.'s action hero moment.
The title and the story alone was killer.
The cast, the action, the humor and the one-liners are just perfect.
Weathers wanted a franchise out of this and the movie did well enough at the box office.
Michael Kamen & Herbie Hancock with the music, very good.
The soundtrack is totally underrated, but still kinda hot to hear.
I was age 8 and the only way I could watch A.J. was with my father, so my mom never knew I saw something Rated-R (good times).
RIP to 6 of the actors in this classic including the Incomparable Carl Weathers.
80's cheese at it's finest and no way in the world you count out this one.

It's undeserving of 13%. Carl drips charisma. I still enjoy this movie because he sells it so well.

This roast is long overdue. I've seen clips where Carl advised this was a mix of lunacy and foolishness and he actually regretted making it. I see it as a classic and it's every bit as good as Last Dragon. Possibly Vanity's best movie! Craig T is also a psycho nut that steals the show.

This movie is fun!! Always meant to watch Action Jackson and a few months ago I finally did and enjoyed it!! It is definitely a product of its time, but more enjoyable than I expected, mainly because of the charm of Mr Weathers!!

Vanity plays Weathers' love interest, and was actually struggling with addiction when she played this part. Although she overcame, she died too young, at age 57. And Weathers was one of few actors at the time doing his own stunts, he should have been given as much work and star status as Arnold or Sly...but that's Hollywood for you. RIP Carl
