I have owned a 2018 Mustang Ecoboost and absolutely loved it. I could never understand the "hate" the car got from fellow Ford fans in particular. I would always get people telling me how much they loved the way my car looked no matter where I went but there would always be that Ford guy in the midst that would go on about how I should have gotten a GT and how they would never buy a 4 cylinder Mustang. It was always funny to me because the Ecoboost is a solid platform that has 300hp to play with right out of the gate. Ford also didn't neuter the looks of the car which is great! Sitting side by side with a GT the only things that will let a person know it's an Ecoboost is the absence of the GT badging on the sides and rear and single exhaust tips. After developing a transmission fault that took the dealer over 5 months to figure out, I traded the Eco for a 2020 GT and I love it just as much. Same great looks, handling and of course that signature V8 rumble puts a smile on my face every day. You just can't go wrong with either version of the Mustang in my opinion.

How’s the difference on gas $?

    • @lookahere
      @lookahere 2 роки тому +15

@@jorgezx6r Although on paper there's not supposed to be a big difference but there is a huge difference between the two. I used to fill up my Ecoboost once every 8 to 10 days with normal driving. My GT gets filled every 6 days with normal driving. Drop that down to 4 if your driving is more aggressive. The GT is definitely no gas saver but it is a very fun beast. The Ecoboost will give you a great sporty experience with awesome looks and will give you good gas mileage to boot. Ford did very well with both models.

A lot of the 5.0 owners feel threatened by the Ecoboost because the 2.3 ecoboost out handles a 5.0 due to the front end being lighter. The second thing they feel threatened by is how well the ecoboost responds to add mods, this engine can make a lot of power, enough power to run with and even outrun many 5.0 Mustangs.
I like both the ecoboost and the 5.0, I think they are both nice cars. My wife and I have a 2021 Mustang 2.3L High Performance Package ecoboost.

I had a 2014 V6 premium pony package before I traded for my 2018 MT82 ecoboost. Even with an Eibach suspension swap, my ecoboost handles better hands down. Mild mods (COBB stage 1 OEM tune, COBB CAI, strut tower brace, and custom 2.5” cat back exhaust), and it’s actually a quicker car than the 2014. I love Mustangs of all variations, but chose the ecoboost for all of the pros everyone talks about. No, It isn’t a GT; that’s not a negative. It has 350 hp, 400 lb/ft of torque. It also has a lighter front end, so it handles the twisties like nobody’s business. Dollar for value, it’s a great daily driver.

Head studs? Gasket? Ecoboom? Air con evap leak? (all early model S550 mustangs) I've had an ecoboost for 6 years and had really bad luck with it. I still love the car but when it went Ecoboom it got really expensive. I have a new engine that was built by Maperformance (uses a fusion 2.0 block) and a 4 page long build list... If done right it can be a hell of a car, if you dont beef up stuff in advance it will fail you. Fully built suspension+good wheels and tires you can get the same lateral gforces as a gt350 so its a really fun car, I own one so I can test both. Long story short only work with reputable tuners and parts. The further you push stock parts the more unlucky you will get.

If you want gt numbers at the wheels get Arp headstuds on a stock engine with full bolt on and a precision nx2 turbo and a good clutch. Here’s the custom exhaust I have for my 2018 ecoboost:
      ua-cam.com/video/ERoFkA5WBmo/v-deo.htmlsi=bhqESlJWXI3SeeF9
The formula is pretty simple. Remove the stock exhaust from the down pipe, and have the muffler shop fabricate the 2.5” s-pipe to the single Magnaflow muffler (model number is in the video), and fabricate mid pipe and tail pipe, terminating at 4” tips (I chose polished stainless steel, but you can also get black powder coated tips. The 4” tip has the advantage of fitting the OEM rear valence without modification).
While it still won’t sound like a V8, it will have a richer, deeper tone with no drone and a more subdued rumble. IMHO it sounds better than OEM exhaust both inside and outside the car.

For street use only, a 93 Octane tune is OK, but the head gasket is questionable. You put that on the strip, something will break eventually, probably an axle. My 2015 Ecoboost is an NHRA stock eliminator. That project is over $100,000. That is a serious commitment.

From the tuner I use. He said the majority of the eco booms were from QA in some engines and other in earlier years of pushing too much power and actually stretching that head studs. Remedy is stronger studs and stronger head gasket. It isn’t full proof and he won’t tune above 400whp without a built motor.
Other cases of eco boom are actually from 2 sensors that ford KNOWS are an issue and have updated sensor lab you can replace them with which fixes the other issues. No they don’t throw a code when they go bad either

I personally would never buy a 4cyl mustang.. but I like that the choice is there and the mustang community is bigger. That being said… you basically tip toes around he biggest problem and flaw and you actually called it a plus… these blocks DO NOT handle power very good or boost above 25ish.. how can you say you made 600rwhp and that was a positive. You got lucky it lasted for a a couple weeks before you built a lot built motor. Don’t tell people you can make that kind of power because people will Boost the hell out of their stock block and destroy it.. that’s bad on you as a company dude… they are fast and fun cars and can be nodded to be very fast.. but on average a eco boost needs a huge turbo/built block and internals/big boost/and all other mods to keep up with a bolt on 5.0. If the 5.0 had any supercharger then it’s game over basically. Some eco boost can be fast but I personally haven’t seen any local ones in the mid 10’s let alone the 9/8’s..

Wanna get an ecoboost mustang and make some big hp&tq numbers. But I’m not sure if I’m ready to own a mustang or if I should buy the ecoboost mustang crate engine and drop it in whatever car I want. Leaning towards the second option because mustangs are the big leagues to me.

They are FOUR CYLINDER cars which means even they are turbo charged the engine won’t last. The heat destroys an engine and they run hot. There is no way that the car will last.

Just as a comment when you said the ecoboost had lonch control how do you activate it
I have a 2016 ecoboost mustang that I drag race and lonch control could help

Only way I know to get launch control is via a COBB AP, I'm not sure the 6R80 allows it, I know the 10R80 does as its the same transmission as in the GT500.

@@lynex83 I installed the Cobb Stage 1+ package (OTS tune and CAI). The tune gives you launch control for manual transmission as well as for auto.

LMAO!!! The ecoboost was never even a thought in my mind or anyone I know... Coyote is king and with a stock motor and blower you can make easy 650whp.. the 2.3L is garbage I have a 2.7 in my wife's 2021 edge St that one is okay but 2.3 and 1.5 are junk
