I don’t think I can behind this challenge. All the problem solving and encounter pooling with Nuzlockes is absent, and this seems more like a challenge that is designed to be hard just for the sake of being impossible. A true Sisyphean undertaking.
I used to feel pretty similarly because by god is there a lot of luck involved. That said, what grew on me while watching a mate stream it is just how well you have to play in addition to the luck. While Mr Kaizo gives you suffering, the only way through is to play around as much as you possibly can, maximize your odds and figure out how to work with the random stuff you got. If I rolled this amazing Slowking, I probably still die without a gym badge. Even though Counter and P Song are extremely rough, sometimes there was something you could have done about it and adding up all those tiny edges on the fly is really cool.
It’s just a fun rng simulator. A lot of the steamers playing it don’t seem to understand it isn’t skill based. I hate when people call it thr “hardest Pokémon challenge”. It’s just an rng simulator with some player choices
@@2LettersSho And here we are 1 year later and literally everyone has beaten it. People like it because it is so streamlined. You don’t know to prep for battles or encounters. It is fun Because of how little control you have. Anyone can jump on it and eventually do well because the nature of the rng. The reality is the player does not have very much influence as all you can really do is pick your most powerful move in 99 percent on instances. The mid game in all winning runs is a joke. So what you get is a completely luck based early game, auto pilot mid game, and some skilled based end game. We can point to all the attempts but the reality is over 50 percent of runs don’t even make it out of the lab. And I would say over 40 percent of runs win if they get to the elite 4. This means that if you get lucky through the early game your chances of winning go up exponentially. Again, a fun little rng simulation
It's pretty much just a more complicated slot machine game basically. You're just fishing for the one playthrough where your Pokémon has an acceptable stat distribution, good coverage moves with sufficient PP and then not running into Pokémon using a move that is a guarantee loss to you like counter/mirror coat.
16:05 if you talk to the trainers, you can battle them even if you get the answer correct. You can completely skip the quiz by battling everyone as well.
just a comment since you mentioned sloking normally having medium-fast growth rate: the randomizer setting strings make all non-legendaries have fluctuating growth rates, which you were correctly using since you got the E4 around level 90. also your double battle method was fine, you're not allowed to click moves or use items with that slot, so throwing balls is about all you can do. if you felt like chancing an extra turn, you could've also attacked skarmory with slowking on the first turn to maximize Exp gain, but that is pretty risky with glass cannon mons like the one you ran. sick run with an unfortunate ending, and nice job on the edit :3
From the first moment ive heard of Kaizo Ironmon its just not a 'challenge' imo, its not a test of strength, skill, or ability at all. It's a pure gamble, and the only way to win is to get lucky. Im glad the people who enjoy kaizo ironmon have fun, but to me its not a challenge at all
The run ender in this video is exactly why I would never try this challenge, and why I assume most other people feel the same. After hundreds, or even thousands of tries, and making it all the way to the end fight, the run can always be killed from a single move that there is absolutely zero counter play to. I just don't understand how that's supposed to be fun. It can be fun to do a challenge where you have to account for crazy RNG in every battle because there is still skill involved in that. If you have the right knowledge, then you can make decisions that would prevent you from dying to hax. There is absolutely nothing you can do about Perish Song though. All the AI has to do is click 1 button and if they have more than 3 Pokemon or you just can't mathematically kill what they have left, then the run is over. No counter play. Just instant run dead.
There shoukd really be a perish song claws for this challenge I've seen quite a few runs of this and it seems like a lot of runs that make it to E4 should have won but get hit with that.
This challenge is just crazy. All this randomisation is just insane. You got kina lucky with that slowking. btw, for the 7th gym, you don't have to get the answers wrong to battle, you can just talk to the trainers
As someone whos done a lot of Kaizo Ironmon, that Slowking is one of the craziest runners Ive ever seen, 36 attack at lvl 8 is absolutely nuts, it really is kind of a perfect runner, the speed was just good enough for it to be functional
Great video and I definitely echo what you said about hoping for more ironmon content on youtube. It's surprisingly absent on youtube for how much it slaps on twitch.
if you had a special mon failglow is a godsend, 1 or 2 and you just sweep any trainer, im currently doing a run with a lapras with a useless ability (lightingrod) but the shes a bulky low atk and low speed spatker with flamethrower leafblade crunch and tailglow. im around 5badges but im sure the rest will be easy. I might even go as far as trying to clear all the victory road trainers.
Around 13:00 you mention that Slowing has a medium-fast XP curve, but I thought the kaiso randomizer set all the XP curves to "fluctuating"? Not sure if that's a set-in-stone part of the challenge or anything, at the end of the day it's all about having fun. I've seen other streamers strategize with their rare candies since odd-numbered levels require more XP than even on the fluctuating curve, that's the only reason it even occurred to me.
Getting to Lance with 109 attempts is commendable. I enjoyed your Slowgirl. Interesting set. I hope you're able to get another good run at it and push through to the champion at least. Good luck
You did make one mistake that I saw, you're supposed to fight the rival on your first time through lavender town, then come back through a second time after getting the silph scope (This is a holdover rule from ultimate)
I know the pain of getting perish songed in the E4. It really sucks having to go back to the lab this close to completing the challenge. How many attempts did you do before you got that Slowbro?
Ayooo fire video my bro. Just had one question. What’s the name of That tool that your using to track the stats of every mon. It looked like it helped a lot. Again fire video my bro🖤
No real gain from using the Full Restore there. If used there, its pretty bad value with how much HP it heals. Better to see if you can get an early snap out of confusion and possibly save the heal. And even if you don't snap out early, you can use the Full Restore when you're low for the same exact effect of using it early.

I'm not sure of the full ruleset but ive always been under the impression that you're only allowed to fight one 1 pokemon random battle before brock to catch something

I believe the rival keeps it each time.
In Kaizo Ironmon, you’re required to fight all the gym trainers, can’t skip any.
