Janis Siegel is fantastic ...the other three are fantastic ...the band is fantastic What more could you want?
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS GROUP!!!!
What made the Transfer so great in their heyday was that they seemed to be having so much fun onstage.
The contrast between the band and the crowd couldn’t get any bigger.
I couldn't just sit there. Janis is so awesome.
oh my freakin gawd, Janis I adore you! Love the group, but Janis Siegel is an absolute treasure! Love the album version of this song, but wow the way she improvises all over this live version is a joy to behold!
Siegel is my fave!
Check out her solo recording "At Home". Not well received by the critics, but screw 'em. That album is GOLD. David Sanborn on alto, Branford Marsalis on tenor/soprano, Lew Soloff on trumpet/flugel, and a who's who of rhythm sidemen.
@@user-sz1dk4tw2o I will seek out that record. Thank you!
RIP Tim Hauser!!! i love this record!! great quartet!!
Loved Siegel's performance on this. Such spirit!
They were like really fun music teachers.
Janis totally ROCKS this one!!! Love MT, but this is my all time fave
Best vocal group EVER! Thank you
2nd best, if you please. They have to get in line behind Judith Durham and the Seekers.!
Amazing vocals by Janis.
I LOVE the little dance number the three other members do. Cheryl Bentyne REALY gets into it.
Janis is simply a powerhouse. What talent!
Yeah, she's a dynamo, all right...enthusiastic showmanship.
I love the energy! No choice but to get happy😊
God I LOVE this group, just want to get up on the stage with them.... bliss!
Luckily I saw them live.....Janice Siegel such a quality singer...
Love Janis.
This is one of my top 5 MT arrangements, stuck in the middle of the Extensions album. LOVE the way Janis spits out the rhythms, the backup wordless vocals changing vowels at the perfect moment in the harmony. Stellar. RIP Tim, you graced us with your passion in a blaze of great music.
an amazing live performance. great back up band.
Where are the groups with this much talent today?
And they didn't use Autotune bnack then
Migos
pentatonix looking good
Check out the Swedish group ‘The Real Group’.
They’re around. Open your ears. And your mind.
In my view the best song from Manhattan Transfer. Awesome band and talent.
Janis ❤️......love Manhattan Transfer forever
It does not get any better than this... Jazz!!
This lineup was my favorite MT personnel!
R.I.P. Tim Hauser. ROCK ON!!!!!!
i love this group...watched their concern in philippines july 2006 and was wonderful..
This group was ahead of thier time!
This group always ROCKED!!!
MANHATTAN TRANSFER.... SMOOTH ALL THE WAY.....
This is the real thing! No gimmicks - just great harmony!

Fantastic! Thanks so much for posting this classic!!!
This was just a fantastic song done by them, love it!!
Has anybody out there got ManTran's "Love for Sale. It just has to be the best version ever!!
Janis great!!
One of the best pieces of music for all time...absolute perfection.
They performed at my highschool back in early 77. Wyandanch Jr Sr H.S long island ny ( 11798)😊.
I can't wait to perform this song myself
Love it
How'd the performance go?
@Valentin Maun, Yes! You CANNOT fake the kinda' fun they're having up there on stage... It's contagious I tell ya' - this performance NEVER fails to put me in a good mood!
Diggin' the dance moves!
The joy of a live performance!
One word....Brilliant!!!!!
The fool screams, 'no more!'
He grabs his shirt and hits the door
What she needs from him he ignores
It's a bore, oh it's a bore, oh it's a bore, oh it's a bore
(Oh it's a )
Blast the radio
The hits just come and go
Block out what he knows that he has blown
(That he has blown)
The night hangs its head
As the fool crawls into bed
Still his hungry heart begs to be fed
All the words she once said
(That she said, that she said, that she said)
So then he grabs his Chevrolet
In one more attempt to get away
But the thoughts of all the crimes of passion lay in his way
He can shake the blues
But you know he still can get confused
It seems like such a waste
'Cause he can't shake her
He can shake his tail
But you know his moves are getting stale
He's on the make, but oh, his heart can't fake
That he can't shake her
He can't shake her.
No, he can't shake her.
Romance falls like rain
But all the motives are insane
Everytime that he plays the game he feels the pain
(He feels the pain. Who is to blame? Who is to blame?)
He finds a joint that's jive
Guys are spinning girls like 45's.
All of the live bait sink for his lines they are so high
He knows he is beat
As his heart puts on the heat
Run from the street that don't even fit his feet
(Don't fit his feet. Now he can see. Now he can really see)
Tell him here's a telephone
He can beg to let the fool come home
He tells her that his life's a drag alone
(Can't be alone)
He can shake the blues,
But you know he still can get confused.
It seems like such a waste
'Cause he can't shake her.
He can shake his tail,
But you know his moves are getting stale
He's on the make, but oh, his heart can't fake
That he can't shake her.
He can't shake her.
No, he can't shake her
I absolutely love this song!
Fantastic quartet!
i used to play this when I was on REAL RADIO! #dj
Great Janis and the crew love 'em all !
Beautiful live on stage too! =]
It's my pleasure!!
Love this song!❤❤❤
I miss this group
This song is pure magic...,it's got it all...,the "B" part is sheer fusion fabulous and matches the outrageous 80's outfits of MT members. The audience looks bemused...,hah! This song moves and the lyrics are beyond tragic-comedy...,all in all one the best from MT.
The audience is a room full of dead fish. Where are they performing this? Dubuque?
Wow! Even more outstanding live😍
powerful and explosive rendering of this song
and with a little latin beat...Love it
이 좋은그룹을 왜 이제야 알게 된건지 안타깝네요 이제라도 많이 들어야지😊
Great group!!! The vocalist is superb!!!!
having so much remembering this manhattan transfer playlist stuff
This group is just 9 kinds of awsome. I have loved their music for years, and this is a great vid.
Just great - and even live. True musicians!

Saw them in San Diego the summer before the pandemic, with Trist Curless replacing Tim Hauser. Still great!
We used to play this song at century Park hotel- Drezzel band 1991 Philippines Manila
nobody can replace mt.
You got THAT right Jerry Mariano....they were the BEST! 🎶🎵🎼🎙🎤📞
❤
Rapper cooley live did this song on his live wire album which led me to hear this group
Janis Siegel, you are the Ella Fitzgerald of this generation. I don't think we will see her or your like again. Where do you get your energy?
Maybe from that Wacky Dust? (JK!😹)
この曲好き~
👍👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
SHOWWWWWwwwww!
Yassss!
Janis Siegel.Je t'aime. JM
I'm surprised that the Transfer didn't duet with Spyro Gyra on this one. They recorded this too.
nobody else can shake this song except TMT... hehe!!! Payterrr
RIP Tim
now that i've found this track on u tube i'm playin' it to death myself! 1 of my favs fom tmt.
me too!!!
Stage presence.....wow. Love to watch them all.Did Spyro Gyra write it (Jay Beckenstein)?
Yes. Both are great.
I can't find any references on the 'net. Big song in the day for Spirogyra and Manhattan Transfer.
Yes it was written by Jay
класссс!!!!!
Kildeparken.. ??? Memories?😊
Was this before the incredible Spyro Gyra played it? MT is awesome!!
Spyro Gyra cover song
This is Incredibly sexy and seductive. Great energy!€ I think Spyro Gyre did an instrumental version. Fantastic vocals here. That sounds like an ARP Polyphonic synthesizer from the 70's.
I don't mean to be all maudlin, but it feels a lot like when Laurel got hurt--like it'll never be any good anymore. I came around to Cheryl (took about three songs) and they did fantastic stuff. But no Tim? We all died a little, too, with his passing.
Top 5 MT faves, no particular order: A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Corner Pocket, Four Brothers, Shaker Song, Soul Food to Go.
How about yours?
I kinda agree with you(hankluvsdagny). It's sad when an original member passes. It's never quite the same - I've been seeing all these retro groups live lately, and there's always a little something missing. Gonna miss Tim Hauser, but I'm optimistic- planning to see them in Nov.in NY. btw, Laurel is still living, (I think), and I loved Cheryl Bentyne from the start. She had a little more spunk, and seem stronger on the higher notes (imo). Plus she fit in with the others so perfectly.
Forty years later and you’re still whining about Laurel?
I had no idea there were lyrics to this.
The beginning has a Mario Bro’s type a feel u feel me lol.
The lead vocalist can sing her a$$ off! Also, she looks like the girl from the movie MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING.
+Engelbert Delrosario Her name is Janis Siegel. You are RIGHT. She looks like Nia Vardalos.
Her style of singing is pretty smooth. She is not even trying and she sounds awesome.
