    Thanks for the video love your enthusiasm, the part number in in Australia is Makita GD0801C 1/4" (6.35mm) SJS HD Paddle Switch 7000 to 24000 rpm. Price A$499.00 from most vendors. They also have a low-speed unit which is good for sanding and buffing, but it is too slow for rapid removal of wood.

    So what is the large buffer / sander you used after the Makita? Also the Dremel you used for smaller details

  • @1crazypj
    @1crazypj 9 місяців тому +1

    The real advantage of air die grinders is you can control rpm very accurately when you learn to use trigger.
    You need rear exhaust though as front exhaust can spit oil onto parts, not good if your doing wood.
    Front exhaust is good for clearing chips and dust though.
    6mm collet is smaller than 1/4", your right you need 6.35mm. Should also be able to get 1/8" and 3mm collets

    hi it's me again. I noticed that my compressor isn't powerful enough to use the 1/4 kutzall bits, and I was thinking about alternatives.. mainly bench work, can the dremel 9100 take the 1/4 bits? I'm having a hard time finding information on this. If they aren't compatible, I was thinking of the Makita GD0603 straight grinder, it looks like a dremel due to its small size, but it only has 240W. are quite? otherwise there are the larger classic ones, but they start to weigh a little too much to use them precisely on a workbench. Can you give me some advice please?

      Hi there, a foredom is like a bigger dremel and has a flex shaft as well, I would look into the foredom SR SERIES with a industrial flex shaft and hand piece, be carefully of u do but a foredom it is not a fake, really do your research,
      If u look in my playlists u can see some foredom videos,

      @@CarvingFusion Hi, thanks for replying, but it's a bit out of my budget... I just checked on the Foredom website, the total price, including shipping, is €430, the Dremel 9100 is certainly less since it costs half as much , but can you tell me if I can use the 1/4 kutzall tips? and if a small 240w straight grinder can be enough for these bits? Thank you

    • @CarvingFusion
      @CarvingFusion  7 місяців тому

      I don't think the dremel 9100 flex shaft tales the 1/4 bits, a die grinder is a very good tool to use and well like I show in this video :)

    • @woodenheart3494
      @woodenheart3494 7 місяців тому

      true, but I'm afraid of getting one that isn't powerful enough, I was disappointed by the compressor cutter I got. Can I ask you if you can check it if it's ok? it's the model of the makita GD603, it's very small that it doesn't look like a straight grinder, and it has less power (240w), it looks like a dremel, but if it's powerful enough to use for wood I'll take it :)@@CarvingFusion

    A die grinder is so much more powerful than a Dremel that it is scary. So much more torque. I don't have the model number handy, but Makita makes one with a safety on/off paddle switch that you have to hold down for it to run. A die grinder with a simple slide switch will keep going if you drop it, or you might have to fumble around with the slide switch when you would really rather have it stop right away. Even with the safety switch, once it is turned off it will keep rotating with torque for a lot of turns while it slows down (must be a flywheel inside). It is a great tool, but give it plenty of respect...

    • @obeydefi6312
      @obeydefi6312 2 роки тому +2

      I prefer a paddle switch on my angle grinders for the safety reason. But when I'm working the 8hr shift carving the details, it gets super tiring having to grip the paddle switch down on the fat barrel of the die grinder. Much easier with just the switch all day long. 👍

    Hey, Jordy. Hope all is well with you. I was watching this video because I have been searching pawnshops looking for a straight die grinder. All I have found so far is the pneumatic type. So I was wondering if you could help me know what kind of air compressor is needed? I have an air compressor fom my dad, but I really don't know much about compessors either. Any good info you have on compressors and/ or pneumatic die grinders would help. Pretty sure I want one of the Makita types eventually, but I was looking at getting something cheaper to start with.

    Another great Video Jordy, and Fantastic wood spirits as always 😁👍quick question have you used the 1/8 collet and Burrs in your GD0800C as I would like to try it but would rather check if anyone has done this who has far more experience with die grinder carving, do you know if Ryan Cook has done it and was it successful, or know of anyone who has done it. I have just got a GD0800C but I now unfortunately have to get the 8mm collet as the 6mm collet comes with it here in the UK.
