  • //Support me on Patreon//: / jonnybuilds In this video I’ll show you how to make a skateboard out of acrylic. I built this crystal clear longboard out of some scrap acrylic I had leftover from the side table project. I thought it would be cool have a see though skateboard deck, and the end results were awesome. Now this acrylic skateboard is going to get scratched to hell, but it will still look cool. All the shots and videos of me riding it were filmed at The Womb in OKC. Its an art gallery owned by Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips. Thanks for checking out this skateboard build, and please let me know what you think in the comments below.

    This one came out awesome, short and sweet! It might actually beat out the acrylic table in views, just because the video is so well done. The shots with the 85mm really look great.

    Hey johnny, great idea for using up the cutoff from that awesome end table build you did. ( and yes, it was truly inspiring.) I forgot. What was the thickness of that again? How much $ does an 8'x4' piece go for? Just asking cause I'd like to try and create the same table. Remember, copying is a form of flattery...lol thanks for the video. And keep on shredding man!

    • @JonnyBuilds
      @JonnyBuilds  6 років тому +2

      Thanks, Christine. I used 3/4" thick acrylic, and the 4 foot by 4 foot sheet I bought was $180. I think 1/2 inch would work okay too. Please send me a pic when you build it!

    • @JonnyBuilds
      @JonnyBuilds  6 років тому

      3/4” acrylic is not cheap. I paid $160 for a 4x4 sheet, and built the acrylic side table. The skateboard was built from an off cut of that piece.

    Stronger if you use Poly Carbonate

  • @Rudy32225
    @Rudy32225 3 роки тому

    Given a choice, would have used a polycarbonate that is more flexible and durable; not as brittle as acrylic. However with the thickness used, this should be fine. Nice job!

    Great video, cool longboard. But cleaning acrylic sheet with denatured alcohol is generally not a great idea. It will cause miniature cracks or crazing, which will haze the acrylic and can lead to premature wear as well as ease in propagating larger cracks.
