Your argument is that Kanye's is better musician because he sold more albums than Slipknot, he is more famous, he is often on TV.
You know, using that logic we also can say that the instand noodle or fast food is the best dish in the world, because people buy it often, see its advertising often on TV and every person knows what is a hamburger for example than usual dish, which someone don't know, but is more healthy and more tasty than this.

Because if you wanted to play that game, you'd have consider a great deal of variables, one of them being to compare (an action that has no point in artistic outlets, by the way) artists whose works aim at the same target, which this is clearly not the case. Now, that being said and back to the point of the video, Corey's observation is more than fair. The arrogance displayed by West when he pathetically labeled himself as the "greatest living rock star of all time" ironically paired with his ridiculous attempt at singing Bohemian Rhapsody (one of the greatest rock songs of all time) more than disqualifies him from even getting in the list of candidates to that title.
I didn't compare Kanine to Queen; I just singled out a song he tried (and failed spectacularly) to cover, given that it is relevant to his plea. They can't even be compared because they're aiming at different end products and audiences. As I said, those lists and numbers don't translate into quality. Qualitative and quantitative are two different concepts. The true test? Time. As with anything. If Kanine produces at least one song that is still widely known and relevant 40 years from now like Bohemian Rhapsody is today, then he can start thinking about feeling important - if he still has the need to do so. Back on topic once again: the point of the video is calling out his attitude for pulling that "greatest rock start" stunt, which is severely laughable, delusional, narcissistic, arrogant and disrespectful - especially, as you pointed out, given that he is "relatively new".

Critics, on whatever field they work on, are paid to give their opinions. It’s a business like any other and should be taken as such. They are not musicologists, which is what you seem to be implying. And I’m not even going to mention the frequency with which critics change their minds over time just because they got a divorce, got married, had a death in the family, had a fantastic meal, a flat tire or any other experience that might affect an individual on any level.
The “time test” isn’t about how fast and on how many subjective lists a given work/artist lands on, it’s about endurance: the ability of a given work/artist to keep itself/himself/herself/themselves on the public’s consciousness, generation upon generation, withstanding the passage of time. And here again, just using Bohemian Rhapsody as an exemple (given that West himself chose to look like a tone def jester trying to sing it), that song alone has been more influential in the musical industry than the entirity of West’s discography combined. As far as rock anthems go, it's one of the greatest.
If one should hold on to any set of numbers as a starting point to identify someone as the “Greatest Rock Star”, one’s best bet would be to consider the number of records sold and the number of sold-out arenas throughout the artist’s career. Those numbers are objective and exist only due to collective contribution. But this is hypothetically speaking, because if the concept of “Greatest Rock Star” is to be taken seriously, a lot of variables have to be considered. Even more so if we’re speaking metaphorically, like it’s implicit we’ve been doing since the beginning, given that we’re discussing an Hip Hop artist (Hip Hop is a rock genre!? Since when?)
He's speaking about HIMSELF, not on Hip Hop's behalf. There is no purpose to his statement beyond aggrandizing himself, because it’s not the first time he has done this, even having reacted pretty badly when people made fun of such a statement in the past. Unless, of course, he secretly is a stand-up comedian or an actor pulling the greateast prank the entertainment industry has ever seen. That would explain a lot, actually.
Literally or metaphorically, rock stars are rock stars because they don't give a f*ck about what others think about them, let alone being troubled to label themselves as such in public. They do what they do best, to the best of their abilities and let the chips fall where they may.
There are quite a few artists who could be considered the “Greatest Living Rock Star”. West isn’t one of them. Not even close. The only title he deserves is “Greatest Living Ego”.
It is, however, very good marketing. It gets people talking about him which, as an arrogant and chronic narcissist, is what he wants the most. And here I am doing just that. Oh, the power of Corey Taylor. West should thank him.

Going back to this comment section, I always laugh. First off, Corey is one of the biggest successful musicians out there. He has starred in a movie with Robert Englund called Fear Clinic, he's lead singer of Stone Sour and Slipknot, he has a bunch of side projects going for him, he is featured on many different albums with different rock artists, he's collabed with Tech N9ne, and is the author of three best selling books, so to call him talentless is irrelevant. Its also funny how you Kanye fans call him an asshole when he's literally speaking his own opinion about an artist that many people have different feelings for yet Kanye will brag about himself 90% of the time, has lost his shit on camera, and immediately starts firing back at and calling people out for a joke or something he does not agree with. Slipknot is so amazing. I lived in Australia in 1999, right when I got to my High School every kid "Mate, you going to see Slipknot in Sydney?!" Show was nuts including the guy who climbed the lighting truss and watched half the show dangling from his knees right dead center over the crowd and stage (at least 20 feet off the ground).
I don't know what was more entertaining Corey's comments or the hilarious rants in the comments section.

The lines between the two genres are even blurring again with distorted guitars coming back into the hip-hop sampling mainstream, Lil Uzi making that album with that band, Hip-Hop and rock are like distant cousins that visit each other semifrequently and make long-lasting memories every time they do.
Which makes sense, hip-hop’s parents are jazz and funk, while rock’s parent is blues, and blues came from jazz also. It’s why a lot of artists casually compare themselves to rockstars-but it sounds here like Kanye might’ve literally said he was making rock music, which is wrong.
