@@MouldyRaspberry He wasn't the only one! I was just about to link to it before I saw this comment. Stunnng layout, by the way. I saw your interview video ... really surprised that someone of your age would want to model steam rather than diesel or electric. Chuffed to bits (sorry!) - but why? This period is just before when I was born, let alone when you were alive.
Not only do your trains run reliably, you can also have realistic operation! Dropping off and picking up freight cars is a lot more fun than just watching trains go round in circles chasing their tales!
Hiya, I have to say that I think this is probably the most impressive layout I,ve ever seen. Single track working but so atmospheric. Wonderful. Huge congratulations to you for your modelling skills and many thanks for the entertainment you provide.
Not enough people are mentioning the sound!! I’ve only ever heard such authentic sounds in person up till now! How did you ever manage to put together such an incredible score? Truly excellent, keep up the great work!
Not to mention the sudden and seemingly random interjection of such a rude noise as a cow fart amongst the peaceful twittering of birds had me dying 😂😂
Thanks! I just always try and remember to record bits and pieces when I’m away at heritage railways! Glad you spotted the cow fart, at least that wasn’t a complete waste of time!
A superb running session with a great sound track far better than just hearing electric motors whizzing around by a long shot. If only DCC sound was that good.
FANTASTIC What detail on your layout - magnificent. The wonderful locos and weathered coaches. Thank you so much for showing your videos. These have been a delight to watch and escape into during lockdown. Thank you again.
Hi Every time I watch your blogs they are so good in every way, it just goes to show you don’t have to talk to make a good blog on UA-cam, the sounds that you add, the birds tweeting, dogs barking, the coaches or wagons clanging together really brings your blogs to live in every way! It’s like watching a real life like railway! Your layout must be huge, or certainly gives that impression. Have a great Holiday and New Year with Family and Friends. I look forward to seeing more blogs in 2020 Huge 👍 Thumbs Up 👍
Thanks very much Jamie. It’s 80 feet in total, so goes right round the loft. They’ll be a track plan of it in the next Hornby magazine actually, they’ve drawn one up for an article in there. Have a great Christmas and new year. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Lewis, Merry Christmas. If the realism of your layout were not enough then you've added perfectly weathered rolling stock and tied it all together with authentic sounds, including cow farts, yes I heard it. There are many things that various modelers do that make their layouts good but you present the whole package. All the best, David.
From running sessions to weathering to tree making, each and everyone of your videos have been a real treat throughout the year mate. Thank you and Merry Christmas. Rich.
Absolutely superb! I loved the article on your layout in Hornby Mag, and was extremely impressed by your modelling skills. But seeing this video brings a whole new dimension. Thank you so much for sharing your work.
Hello again Lewis. Superb video as always. There are quite a few good layouts on UA-cam, but not many get the balance of realism and atmosphere right to generate a truly nostalgic feel that brings back the memories of when I was younger. I hope that Hornby magazine give you and your layout the justice that's well deserved. Hope you have a happy Christmas and a happy new year. Chris.
Another awesome video. Big fan of that coal train! Thanks for a great year of modelling, running and how to videos. You have produced some great content over the year and it’s great being part of it. Have a great and safe Christmas and best wishes for 2020. Clint
Thanks for the video ! Another one packed with action, and great actresses. My favorite is the Pacific, but the other ones are excellent too ! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !
Your videos have inspired me to clear out the loft and start building. If my layout turns out half as good as yours I'll be a happy man indeed. Have a very merry Christmas.
@@MouldyRaspberry I'm thinking era 5, a mix of steam and diesel. As an aside, I went to the Warley show this year, my second visit. The first visit was in about 1970 when it was held at a community centre in Smethwick. Thx.
Lovely Christmas special of the dales. Very enjoyable to watch. Also a nice selection of stock. I did chuckle when the cow I believe farted. In fact I had to rewind a bit to confirm what I heard. Anyways merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family Lewis. Cheers Ross. 🍻

Merry Christmas Mouldy Raspberry, thanks for another wonderful video. I just love some of the detail you have on the layout, every time I see a video I find new things I missed last time. I especially love how you overlayed the railway audio, it fits very well. Thanks again and look forward to many more new videos next year. Best regards, Dave.
Well thats the best Xmas present I will get, so I watched it twice. My best wishes to you and yours for Xmas and the forthcoming New Year. Steve.

Enjoy your New Year Also Hope you saw the steam to Mallaig on Quest Reminded me of hols up there and had great sound with no commentary
Thanks very much my friend. I hope you got some great presents as well and had a great day with family. Have a fab new year as well. I haven’t seen it yet, but will get it on catch up as it sounds really good.
I got some nice gifts thanks and a special self treat for Glenkerr's snow scene. The programme will surely be repeated if not on catch up. Wish you had a long run through your amazing scenery like it shows 80 feet is long but soon goes by.
Another great visit to a great layout. No snow on the Dales this year I see. Lol. I love the close up camera work, it is great to see the detail work that you have put into your layout. Look forward to the next one. Happy Holidays from Canada Bob
Very nice scenery and overall Modeling but one thing would have made it awesome, a big lash up of Conrail engines pulling a long coal train!! Keep up the excellent work there across the pond!!!!😁😁😁
Great running video, love the sounds and the fine details you have put into the layout. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hope you have a safe and Happy New Year. Thanks for sharing. Ken

Your videos have been so inspirational to this reclaimed rail modeller. (my new diesel runs a dream!) Very best seasonal wishes - Teresa, Findhorn Light(ish) Rly.
Thanks Teresa! Yes I did actually, after redoing the station there were some patches of plaster and some visible baseboard so I re-sprayed the yard black and then added some more grass. Yes that was a cow fart - I hoped someone would spot it! Hope you’re feeling better over the next few days. At least you can sit back relax, eat and recover over Christmas. Have a great Christmas and NY, and thanks for all your comments - I really appreciate it 😀
Love the man crunching the gravel underfoot at the cottage. We don’t just watch this layout running, we experience it. Was that a cow farting at 6:05 ? Or were you just blaming it on the cows ha ha. Ha nice try! That was indeed a cow farting - I’m glad you noticed and my efforts weren’t wasted! A merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours as well!
Hello, beautiful running sessions as always. Thanks for a great year of videos. I had to pull my head in a little for that one close up shot. Silly train almost took my head off! Wonderful stuff, thanks again. I laughed out loud at the cow flatulence. I had to go back to make sure that happened. So funny. I wonder what else you have in your sound library? Merry Christmas to you and your family. Here’s to a wonderful 2020 full of Mouldy Raspberry. See ya.
How the train didn’t whack the camera I don’t know! I hoped someone would notice that little detail - glad you liked it. Have a great Christmas and new year Norman, all the best!
AH-ha- I've been running out of superlatives to use, but now you have finally made a mistake!!! A Christmas running in the countryside with no snow?! Shameful! 🤪😁😁…. Okay, seriously, another brilliant run on one of the prettiest layouts on UA-cam. Happy Christmas! 🎅🎅🎅👍👍👍
Every time I watch your videos I am impressed. You should hire yourself out to build layouts for people who want to model the countryside - if you haven't done so already! Season's Best!
PS - just treated myself to a Bachmann Standard 4MT because of you! Furious about a wonky buffer beam but I’m fed up with sending faulty locos back so will just live with it - call it an argument with a buffer stop! Other than that it is such a beautiful runner. Next I need to attend the Online Mouldy Weathering Academy!
The 2-6-0 or the 4-6-0? How annoying, ive had a couple of duds as well. The Hornby B1 I brought a couple of weeks ago started jerking around last week and yesterday the connecting rods all flew off. I’ve weathered the damn thing so probably can’t return it but I think I’ll take it back anyway and see if they’ll repair it. When you’re paying a fair about of dosh for these you expect a certain quality don’t you! At least yours is a good runner.
Glad you liked it! A few people told me in the comments that they don’t often usually make a sound, it’s more of a silent and very deadly situation... that was news to me!
One word Lewis, 'Priceless' - especially around the 6 minute mark - being the Co2 emissions, lol...! I think you could seriously compete with the big companies for sound effects in all areas. I see a business line here for you. Best, Greg. NZ.
@@MouldyRaspberry Well, there's an idea, but maybe after you've considered a cluster of model rail sounds that could be chipped and marketed or blue-toothed to speakers around the layout. Guess you're getting into the 'total package' of SFX, that larger model rail companies have started placing into their wagons. Maybe you could even talk to a big company, such as 'H.....', as I'm sure they'd be keen to talk with you. After that comes the 'Mouldy Raspberry' whoopey cushions... :-)
Well what can I say Lewis, what 2019 has done is propel YDMR to the top of the tree, and I mean the very top. Not wishing to belittle any other layouts on YT but none of them exude the atmosphere that the YDMR does. By clever use of close crop camera work and split second timing of the sound effects you make a running session into a mini movie. The cow farting at 6:08 had me in fits of laughter. I really looking forward to see what you come up with in 2020. If I could make a request though, I'd love to see a "how to" on how you film and edit you running session videos. Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Well thank you very much Mike. That’s very kind of you to say so, I really appreciate it. Glad you noticed the cow! That would certainly be a good video, I’ll look into how I could do it. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you as well.
love this layout. proves simple is best. all I wish is you could have the room for miles of just this and perhaps a terminus but that would ruin the continueus running
6:06 A cow farts. Now that's what I call attention to detail ! :D
Haha glad you noticed!

No snow and trees in full bloom?! Global warming!!! Thanks very much as always Anthony. Have a great Christmas and new year. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very well done.
Thanks Sean
This is very nice layout :)
Thanks Benny!
Every time I watch your videos I am impressed. You should hire yourself out to build layouts for people who want to model the countryside - if you haven't done so already! Season's Best!
Thank you - That’s a good idea! Have a great Christmas and new year.
As someone who has spent more time than I'd like around livestock, I really appreciated the cow farting.
Glad you liked it! A few people told me in the comments that they don’t often usually make a sound, it’s more of a silent and very deadly situation... that was news to me!
Yay a Christmas treat. Merry Christmas m8.
Thanks matey, have a great Christmas.
Merry Christmas, first viewer for once😅 but yeah hope you get everything you need to continue this stunning layout, cheers K.J
Thanks K.J, merry Christmas to you as well 😃
One word Lewis, 'Priceless' - especially around the 6 minute mark - being the Co2 emissions, lol...!
I think you could seriously compete with the big companies for sound effects in all areas. I see a business line here for you.
Best, Greg. NZ.
Ha thanks very much Greg, appreciate it. Are you suggesting a bring out a line of ‘mouldy raspberry’ whoopey cushions?! All the best mate, Lewis
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
MY FRIEND AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
ENJOY YOUR VIDEO On Christmas eve
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too!
I hope there your presents will be soon
Fantastic as ever happy Christmas pete
Thanks Pete, you as well.
Superb !!
Thanks!
Delightful.
Thank you 👍🏻
love this layout. proves simple is best. all I wish is you could have the room for miles of just this and perhaps a terminus but that would ruin the continueus running
Thanks! I’d like that as well, I just need a bigger loft and that can be a reality!
Your K1 looks just right.
Thanks Stephen. The K1 is one of my all time favs. Have a great Christmas and New Year.
you must have been months collecting all those sound files used to overlay on your videos. Very nice - as always.
Thank you! Most are from friends channels who kindly let me use them - saving me considerable trouble! Have a great Christmas and new year.
5000 subscribers and over 21,000 views! Well done, sir.
Thank you!
Fijne feestdagen!
Thank you my friend, you as well!
@@MouldyRaspberry No problem!
Hi
I love watching you r layout where you run your trains through the countryside
But don’t you have a shunting yard
Thanks Phil. Yes I have a storage yard on both layouts 👍🏻
@@MouldyRaspberry
Any plans on doing a video of your shunting yard
