A patient friend who could read Japanede had us all run through and make characters. Your custom characters moves were based on who you were friends with. The best was a male character who befriended Tiffany and would yell out "Beautiful...Wonderful....Exciting!" I ended up making a swordmaster who had a thing with Hyo. To get a story, I think you have to play with an actual school team?
They could literally port Darkstalkers Resurrection to modern consoles and make a load of money from old fans, same with Super Turbo and 3rd Strike Online. Or just give us a collection of old lesser known Capcom fighters like their beat em up bundle
Capcom only cares for Street Fighter, Resident Evil and Devil May Cry those the Capcom trinity games that brings in a lot of money them other games are all just memories now.

Yep, As a Former Owner of All three games, Of Course... Mix Matching characters will give you a regular Arcade Gameplay. I dunno, maybe he's just playing the game for the sake of playing with it, it doesn't seem he cares about the concept the game revolves around.

I read about this game in the mags when it came out. A few years later I finally got to play it at a Capcom Nickel City arcade. I had a blast with it. Tech Romancer was discovered that day as well. Early 2000s. Good times.
I would love Rival Schools characters in Street Fighter have a DLC season with just Rival Schools characters making their playable debut Street Fighter, Final Fight and Rival Schools coexist in the same universe.

Akira is my favorite female character design that Capcom has ever made, and in a more just timeline than our own she would have been in every Capcom crossover game. Also since you mentioned Itsuno I'm pretty sure he pushed for another Roval Schools on Twitter a year or two ago.
@@JesusSaves86AB I dunno about that take, the fighting game market right now is more diverse and fresh than it's ever been. 2D, 3D, platformers, even the playstyles and aesthetics in todays market has tons of ideas on display. That's not to say Rival Schools has no place, it's got its own take on Pokken-esque mix of 2D meets 3D and its sense of humor is something that no other fighter on the market shows off quite so flamboyantly.
When it comes to the story in this game you have to pick a team from the same high school to get the interactions and from the last time I played this I had found out characters have multiple endings in this game but it depends on if you defeat Raizo with a level 7 super attack you'll find that Hyo is a pretty funny dude.
Holy smokes, I just realized something later on. Roy kinda has a power wave and power geyser...but he also has a shoryuken. And his hair style reminds me of Ken's son Mel, but his clothes colors are pretty much identical to Terry Bogard....Hmmmmm. (Not really serious but, still, it's a funny thought.)
Yeah, he was definitely conceived as a homage to Terry. He's an American transfer student with a jacket-style uniform, blonde, has a brawling fighting style with a powerful punch and ground shockwave attacks, and he mostly speaks in broken english when fighting.
Roy--also known as high school Cody before he beat up punks in Final Fight with Guy, got imprisoned because he was too strong, busted out of prison just to have some fun against Seth/S.I.N. in SF4, and then becoming Mayor after Haggar retired and nominated him out of prison again. Classic Capcom character lore.
Glad to see this series gettin' some love and attention. Made a Roberto costume for this year's convention season before, well, the season got cancelled.
I still have my copy, bought it brand new at a killer price like 15 dollars a few months after it came out, I believe the guy didn't care much for it, since it still had the original wrapping.
This was probably my favorite PS game growing up. I played it so danged often. Roy was also definitely my boy, but I also loved kicking ass with Kyoko. What an underrated title. I wish Capcom would give it the love it deserves.
It’s been a while since I played, but I think if you play teammates from the same school, the arcade does have a proper story with dialogue in between matches which fleshes things out MUCH better, and was the best “story mode” we got for fighting games until probably MK9 over 10 years later.

I had a copy of this for PS1 back in the day (98-99). I loved the homerun mini game. Rival schools is one of the games I remember foundly of my youth. Like a youth, i traded it for a boxing bag. How ironic, I know. To find a good copy is nearly $100. Mint is damn near 300. Hopefully one day I'll come across a copy to play with my kids. I personally think backgrounds are super important, there have been many a fighting game i played where I remember the sick background way more than the game.
Also this is the first ever fighting game Capcom did with extensive voice acting. It's why porting it is apparently a licensing nightmare due to how old VA licensing and whatnot, that only the Japanese version got a PS1 Classics port.

Play the other disk of Rival Schools, the one whit the bloopers. (I owned it on PS1, I know there is two disks). Also Tag attacks in completely invincible on start up, hence he who goes after wins.
12:30 Fighter's Edge gave out free games and controllers to anyone who gathered up enough FE points. Most of my extra Dreamcast controllers were from that program. It wasn't bad at all, just unsustainable in the long run.

In arcade mode, you have to pick a "canonical" team to get the story cutscenes like Batsu and Hinata or Roy and Tiffany
Picking people from the same school follows a storyline. So for Roy Tiffany and Boman for USA, Akira, Edge, and Gan for Getto High, etc

I never got the chance to play this game. It would be nice if Capcom remake this game with modern graphics.
I still wonder why some of these characters haven't appeared in Street Fighter yet. Especially Batsu and Kyosuke.

Are these videos locked to 720p? I can't ever seem to get 1080 or better from your channel, which is a bummer because I love your channel.
I physically can't record older games in anything higher. And...well they wouldn't even benefit from it. I have plenty of other videos that are in 1080 and higher, because they are modern games that actually support those resolutions.
