- The Nomad is a brand new BMW GS Exhaust from Jekill and Hyde that gives you 3 exhausts in one! At the touch of a button you go from Jekill mode which is deeper and quieter than stock, to Hyde mode where the valve is fully open releasing the animal within. 2 taps of the button switch to 50/50 mode giving the best of both worlds.
I also got to take out the Indian Chief, Harley Breakout, BMW R18, and Triumph Speed Triple RR, all fitted with Jekill and Hyde Exhausts.
All Jekill and Hyde exhausts are totally legal in all modes when tested for current noises regulations both on road and track.

Awesome video man! This video (especially 12:10 - 12:50) is a perfect showcase of how impressive and useful a Jekyll & Hyde exhaust system is.
Superb!! Best of luck to these guys, judging by the set-up they have, they’re doing well, and deservedly so. I think most people are happy to pay for such an item which clearly is premium and actually does exactly what it is supposed to do. With the added that this will increase the acceptance of ‘bikes through towns/rural areas. Fantastic product and great job, Bruce.

Not a new thing but Jeckill & Hyde have perfected the system. I had a Honda 1300 cruiser with "Peacemaker" exhausts which worked on a similar principle but with a clunkier mechanism. Recently I had a Harley RoadKing twin cam which had the J & H system fitted....loved it!
Looks and sounds great,enjoy.
Vandemon are now doing a similar thing for the H2 now and the Rocket 3! Great idea 💡 👍
I go to the South Netherlands a lot (Limburg area) there are some great roads down there! Valkenburg is an amazing town to visit. I do hope I can get one of these for my little Ducati Hyperstrada!

I’ve know about these for a while.... I should imagine that this maybe the only way to have a decent sounding bike in the future.
Had 1 on my HD Street Glide and it was wicked loud to the point of being irritating. Now as a GSA rider I can make do with my more subtle Akra.
I finally get my first bike today, after a long wait with a less than reliable retailer, the video catalogue I have enjoyed from Mr Bruce have given me a great benchmark to strive for it my riding career.

@@teapotone I know when I fitted the full Akro titanium decat to my r1200rs it transformed it but I don't have the jekill only my Hyde. I think that's a great option. Proof was in the pudding passing that horse rider

Any need for a remap though? Asking this because my friendly mechanic told about a customer with a BMW GS who destroyed his engine after fitting an Akrapovič system without having her remapped.

On the GS it’s actually quieter than stock in Mode 1 (Jekill) 👍
Great idea, basically the same thing as Captains Call like we've had on boats for decades but not being able to install it yourself is a big miss IMHO. I don't want nor need to overpay a BMW tech to install this on my bike that's soon to be out of warranty.
Are these exhausts only available for the 1250 ?

Hi Bill,
As it says in the vid, for legality reasons they can’t increase performance too much, I think it was plus or minus around 5-10% from stock values.
I definitely notice that the bike feels sportier in Hyde mode (valve open). It seems to lift the front more on acceleration, and just feels more dynamic - this could of course just be a placebo effect from the louder, more aggressive sounding exhaust in that mode 🤷♂️

I had full Akra systems on my last 2 GS’s and think the J&H in Hyde mode sounds much better personally - it’s deeper, throatier, and raspier.

@@teapotone I have. They don’t ship to California and they only install it through “dealers”. There is only 1 dealer in the US and they are in North Carolina which is 2,595 miles from San Francisco. Or north into Canada. Which is 1,500 miles away.

Slightly off topic, How did you get on with Covid when travelling through different countries, Did you have to have proof of vaccination? Also I noticed that your numberplate has no GB markings on it, I thought this has to be a legal requirement in Europe or is it just that you cannot display the Euro flag?
There are no restrictions for travelling in Europe now for covid, certainly not in any of the places I went through.
Yes you’re supposed to have the GB markings on your reg, but I never had any issues at all

One place this will not be legal is California USA, they have gone utterly mental with thier laws, loudest mode 1db over stock and you get a massive fine and forced to have a dealership replace parts to the satisfaction of the police department that issued the fine. This is Not the letter of the law but courts have upheld this (it's called the land of Karen's for a reason)

Sounds great, but man that is expensive for the exhaust. I was very tempted to order one for my GS, until I saw the price.
I think the Indian sounds brilliant, and better than that BMW or Harley.
It is a premium product, the full Akra system I’ve had on my last 2 GS’s was over £1,600 and that wasn’t legal, so I could also get fines etc for using it.
The Jekill one is totally legal, everywhere, in all modes - and you effectively get 3 exhausts in 1.
But yes, it’s a lot of money certainly

Shame it only works for dealers, I don't care about warranty, it's been half a decade since it expired... I just want something the popo won't do me for, would also help if it was made for my bike lol (S1000XR, please make one and sell it to me thanks!!) haha
I still don't get why would you damage your hearing and pay for it but hey, I don't get many things these days.
You damage your hearing simply by riding a motorbike, even with ear plugs.
I love the idea of this system and really it should be on all new bikes. As a reasonably responsibly adult I don't want to annoy my neighbours, scare horses or any of the other downsides of a loud pipe but I do like a loud pipe so this is great.
On the other side I really don't like the intrusion of having the government listening to see if you're making a noise.
Thats a big over reach again and guaranteed they won't be trying to make things better - just collect fines.
Absolutely - I am genuinely concerned by the increasingly levels of government we are seeing throughout the world at the moment - almost like they got a taste of the total control they could have and now don’t want to relinquish any of it (a bit melodramatic I agree, but you get my point hopefully 👍)
@@teapotone I've kind of seen this coming for a very long time now but mentally you just kind of think "nah - couldn't be".
The events of the last few years have changed my mind to more of a "what are we going to do about it" process.
Speed cameras came along in large numbers in the 90's and while most of the public didn't want them they still got rolled out. Then it was speed humps. Then ANPR, average speed cameras and so on.
I have no problem with any of these if used appropriately but there were a lot which were obviously not and even with public outcry nothing was done.
Thats just one the roads too.
We've had a massive increase in cctv everywhere we go, I.D. required for allsorts of things which used to not need it, money being slowly phased out for cards and every single thing we buy, do or think about being tracked under the guise of thing like loyalty cards, security or privacy.
Then the 19 came along and the place looked like a scene from an Orwell book.
The scary thing wasn't the virus but more the way people were so happy to hand over almost all their freedoms at the drop of a hat and then try to enforce those rules on others who didn't want to play along.
I think bikers in general value freedom quite highly anyway so being told you can't take the bike out incase someone in a city catches a cold was a bit of a tough pill to swallow.
With the revelations since I'm amazed I still see people wearing masks. I genuinely wonder where the British spirit went in these people.
I don't want a noisy bike anymore and I certainly don't want aftermarket parts that can only be fitted by a main Stealer..so, as they say on Dragon's Den; I'm out.
Im not a BMW guy, damn cool idea. Turns me off to mandate dealer install. Not for me, as I have a "no touchy" policy for my KTM. Dealers here in the US are often staffed by
knot heads.

They are very nice pipes... But i will not pay that kind of money for an exhaust, its just to much.. U say its Akrapovic sort of prices, but thats simply not true. The J&H system is more then double the price of a Akra.
No it’s not. The full Akra system for the GS is over £1,600 - probably more now as this was at least 3 years ago.
@@teapotone the slip-on for a Akra for my Pan Am is 1100 bucks, the slip-on from J&H is 2250.
A full system doesn't comply to European regulations so it's not the system to compare it against.
And a normal slip-n doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as the J&H one.
I had the full Akra system on both my last 2 GS’s, and they didn’t sound as good as the J&H in Hyde mode

Just that the J&H are extremely expensive comparing prices for the legal part of the Akra (the slip-on) since those are less then half the price.
For most people it's just to steep.

Sounds good .. but £1500 for an fancy end can… great if you get for free to promote.. sure we’d have one …but in reality how many times will you switch between the different modes… exactly… ultimately a very nice but extremely expensive end can !!
I use the modes all the time actually - I genuinely didn’t think I would, but they are very handing for everything we talk about in the vid; early mornings or late night starts of the engine, or even riding through villages/towns, horses, anywhere where you think the louder mode may alarm someone or something. It’s also really useful on long journeys where I don’t want a loud can doing my head in, I can just switch it to quiet mode and it’s much more bearable.
Contrary to what you obviously think, if I don’t think I’m going to genuinely use something, then I don’t accept it from a company as I won’t give it a just review.

I would t disput its a good quality item but as stated £1500 for an end can... Switching exhaust mode sounds is realy something of a novilty .. however each to their own - safe riding out there -
I did look at their exhausts about a year ago as I’d seen one on Instagram, but couldn’t afford the £1,700 outlay - I usually put full Akrapovic systems on my GS’s which are around the same price, but funds are tight since going alone on UA-cam.
It’s not ‘just’ an end can though is it bud, it’s a fully legal exhaust that gives you the advantages of a full system without any of the grief (fully legal and within noise test limits when needed), plus it gives you the option to turn off the growl when you want.
It costs what it costs because it’s a premium product, same as a Bremont watch costs more than an Amazon special 🤷♂️👍
@@teapotone yes as stated it is a premium product I wouldnt disagree on that .. I however personally think the Akrapovic looks better and is also fully road legal, & has a better sound to it .. shop around and youll get one new at £800 .. which is still expensive sure...but more than £700 less than the JH .. Akrapovic are a primium brand.. no Amazon special.. who knows maybe JH will adjust the price accordingly its a competitive market out there.. time will tell..
You won’t get a full Akra system for the Gs for £800, not a chance.

@TeapotOne ... i really like your videos... but if you have this on your bike please stay the f away from Austria, Germany, Italy... we have enough problems with closed roads because of unnecessary load bikes.

@@teapotone yes, i know its currently legal, and i believe that the DBa is lower then stock... but the sound is more aggressive and in a lower frequency, which travels further and is perceived as louder. In tyrol totally legal bikes are currently forbidden to drive on certain roads. (which is limited to the standing noise - which absolutly makes no sense..).
and out of experience... people who use this kind of exhaust have them in the Hyde mode most of the time.. because they dont care about other people. your stock exhaust also had a exhaust flap - but you couldnt override it.
Aye it’s a ridiculous situation over there for sure. Why has nobody challenged this at your government level?
People who buy this kind of exhaust do so BECAUSE they are the type of people who don’t want a loud exhaust all the time and don’t want to cause anti-social behaviours through their bikes exhaust.
So, just an advert then.
