you MUST go to one of these hill climbs/races, i get chills all over my spine when i hear one of these V6 1200BHP engines roar, apart from that the smell of these trucks is so special, something between burned rubber and gasoline :D gotta love em

I've always enjoyed this vid.......I used to run MAN trucks on the road in my business,always very good ! Just one question....is there any more up to date hill climb type vids of trucks like this ??
Holy Moly thats a powerdrift at about 0:30. That MAN is almost as wide as the track. Wow!

I saw my first Truck race in 1987 at Hockenheim, think the 80's are the time they start with truck races in Europe.

A few years ago we ran a race truck engine on our dyno, it was a CAT C12, modified to peak at 1550brake horsepower!! They are usually rated at about 715bhp MAX for marine use, and it's only able to do this for 5 minutes per hour at this rating. I'm guessing that the race truck engines would not last anything like this long at the power they produce.

Hey prakumba, youre right, thats no drift contest, thats racing, but at 0:35 i see a nice drift nearby the crash barrier...
There is a few power-overs on here but the guy never maintained them. The sound of these trucks is pretty awesome though.
no it just had a very diferent exhaust set up that made it sound rough
it was to even out the tourque band to let them use a sequential box

@ihcfahrer423 : Jedes Jahr findet im Sommer das Rennen zur Truck-EM auf der GP-Strecke vom Nürburgring statt. Nächstes Jahr (2011) vom 08.07. - 10.07. 2011.

That would be awesome!!! But I doubt if my US sponsors would pay the tab to get it there since Switzerland is 10,000 miles from their customer base. I really want to get it to Goodwood. Thanks for the response.

Awesome, what gearboxes do these trucks use, full manual auto? semi auto? quick changes!
They often are, as it's really difficult to overtake, when evry one has similar performances. It comes down to position in traffic & BALLS!

I am sorry, the limit is 160 KM/h, possible are speeds up to 240 KM/h

some trucks has up to 18 gears, even more depending on models, they can hit a staggering 160 to 180 Km/h, but only have a rev range of between 1200-1500rpm...
