Honda engine with a BMW transmission connected with adapters made by mazda guys, all thrown into a Nissan. there is so much you can do other than just LS swap everything.
Datsun son only in the usa, its way cheaper to do a honda swap than a ls swap anywhere else. Youre looking at 10 grand for the engine alone here in europe for an ls. hondas go for a couple 100 euros.
You don't have to go w/ an S2000 Oil Pump. You can opt for: RRC Oil Pump from FD2 CTR which does not need modifications. Other options: are PRB Oil Pump or 4PISTON PRB Oil Pump w/ a slight grind on the hump to flatten.
No shit, this is awesome info. If it's something I don't have to research (because I remember this comment, which is unlikely, tbh) then it would help for my Boxster PROject (that's the Canadian pronunciation, BTW)
Serious statement; dont forget to plug the oil line which is not used when u change to s2000/k20 oil pump. There is a hole in the lower block which used to be covered when you had the old oil pump installed, look it up and you will notice it. Dont forget to block this hole, otherwise you wont have oil pressure with the new pump installed :)
Great video, keep it up! Subframe mods are a little backwards for most drifters. Typically the rack is moved forward to avoid overcentering issues. Something to consider.
all bmw engines have a 12 degree lean, displaces the weight a little better. keep the transmission the way it is. ie keep the engine in its proper orientation and the transmission will work fine. Google the shift pin service for that Zf. Also Garagistic sells delrin shift bushings for the shift linkage. I'm sure you will have to make some custom pieces. Most of the bmw families share shift linkages and all vary in lengths and offsets.
I am still working on my K-swap Fieros. The 87 has an RSX k20 and the 88 has a TSX K24A2. I found the sidewinder turbo manifold works well with my setup. I also removed the balance shafts on my K24. IIRC I picked up the balance shaft kit from 4Piston along with one of their ported OEM Honda oil pumps. I believe the majority of the kit consisted of parts from the K20Z engines. Good luck with your build. I'll be watching!!!!
Changing that oil pump to an s2000 pump will actually give you guys an additional 10 whp On the stock k24a2. I've done it twice on my k swap civics. With the stock pumps they made 230ish on e85. After changing only the pump I made over 240 whp Just some fyi. Keep up the great work and I'm in for more vids of this build!!!
I've been following you guys for a long time, and all because of the s14!! I watch all your vids but I'm a kouki s14 owner as well. Also a fellow Canadian!!(sask boy) With all the sr issues to haha. I just picked up a vq35hr, and a 6speed for my s14. I've been thinking of doing the mr2 power steering as well, so can't wait to see how that turns out
You clowns are doing a great job I love it. Keep up the hard work. Great entertainment. I don't know what I'm doing ether, I don't let that stop me. Never met a canak I didn't like.
Coming along quickly Peter! I'm surprised that fat boy ZF fits in the tunnel. Wish I could work this fast on my 1UZFE 280Z project, a damn thing called funds are slowing me down. Haha.
I know you guys sit on content for a while so it’s probably already done, but Adam LZ’s friend Jimmy Oakes has a ton of videos of S-chassis mods including the sub frame modification. Cool channel I suggest checking out
jack Clark they’re pretty social you tubers, both Chris from b is for build and Alan from ambush drift shouted them out after reaching out to them on 86 advice
Just FYI - If you're planning on using that actual transmission in the video, it's probably the worst one you could have got. Getrag 220 won't hold much at all. Ideally you'd want to run the ZF310z/ZF320z from an E36 328i or US M3 (early Euro M3 5sp).
I want to see your guys take on Ohlins Road and Track - Dual Flow Valve suspension kits. I'm either picking up an E46 M3 or a BRZ to supercharge, 100% going with Ohlins either way.
W.W.U.D. What Would Under Do? (Not bail on his SR) Pre-requisite swap ribbing aside though, I'm really looking forward to you guys doing this right. You'll likely pay for your initial K build when the SR parts are sold off. Did Dave force you to watch the MotiveDVD Jet 200 build as I requested Pete? Go straight to an aftermarket BMW shift housing setup like CAE, UUC, or AAF have (removes rear locating mount that your chassis doesn't have). Expensive shifters, but not much more than all the bushings, a short shifter and a DSSR but with better results. You DO NOT want to money shift and the factory linkages on these bimmer boxes aren't very good at staying aligned when driven in fury, mostly due to the freeplay in the linkage. If you insist on using the stock BMW assembly, make sure your shift coupler has it's foam insert intact (inside coupler @ front of linkage). Easily overlooked. The K's lower weight and aftermarket engine/trans mounts should keep the transmission itself aligned compared to the M52 i6 which causes it to flop around a ton on track. One of the problems E36 owners also have is maintaining 7300rpm+ without having major failures. If 9000rpm+ K36's start getting popular an M3 will become a bit of a novelty. Last time I looked into a K Swap it was the tuning options, mounts and adapters that actually drove the price up to normal $/hp ratio's. It also gets expensive if you don't get the good engines (tsx k24a2 etc.) to begin with, including all required parts with that engine. A separate wiring harness, ecu, sensors, trans and cables etc. all run the price up for the average guy. Then you have to make it actually work, like the subframe/oil pan issue (not just fit, WORK). Luckily the K Miata crowd has dealt with most of these problems already, though solving them takes time and likely money.
In case anyone thinks I'm a K Hater...In the winter I pick n pulled a 200$ K24, harness, ecu and a 5 speed at the Junkyard (plus parts from other cars for a planned FWD application) But someone scooped the trans., ecu, wiring and cables on me because I couldn't get back in time with a truck to pick it all up. I was going to cut my teeth on a FWD build before getting into a RWD K swap. These engines are awesome.
Instead of just cutting a section out of the front of the subframe why don't you do what the drifters do and move the rack forward? That way you gain some clearance and if you ever want to put crazy angle on it you won't get overcentering.
Is there any RWD swap-bells-adalters out the for B, H or F series? Or no since there opposite rotating crank engines.. I got some buuilt b16 an h22 engines I'd love to put in a rwd drift pig, even in my trail jeep..
I kno someone prob asked this, oe mentioned. But Were can i find the adapters/flywh3el kits for K series swaps?..for rwd trans/ bellhousings? An wat trans swaps are out there? I'm lookin to bolt a K to a AX14/R154? Aisin/Toyota trans... Possible to tremec or nv3500..
Kmiata makes a nice water-neck. Better to support Kmiata than ahem Ktuned whom I assume sponsers Speed Academy with half a$$ed parts. ATPower has beautiful dry sumps if that is the route chosen over the the S2000 pump.
Why did he mention the chain tensioner replacement ?.... I've heard two UA-cam's mention this, is the tensioner a weak point in the engine ?.... I have a 04 Accord with 250,000 miles, I'm worried ....
Christopher Smith yeah its only found in the k24. The swap to a k20 type s oil pump is easy though. The only thing is that an oil drain plug needs to be blocked off when making the switch on a k24 because if you don't it'll have low oil pressure.
Boostin_e36 right on. but is the engine in need of a harmonic damper or lightened pistons to get to a properly balanced engine? I know from vibrations class that larger displacement 4 bangers have to have that balance shaft. So I just wonder if “i” would be able to feel the vibration from being out of balance.
From my own personal experience I've never had a k series engine fail from swapping out to a type s pump, with some engines being track only cars that lived at 9000 rpm and street cars that were daily driven. I think honda only had these dampers on k24's to reduce the vibrations felt in the car because these motors are found in the more family oriented cars like the accord and tsx (which is prefered when going to a k24).
Automotive manufacturers normally add balance shafts to large displacement I4 engines to oppose their inherent unbalanced second order forces. I4's are always unbalanced, but the effect only becomes problematic when there is a high reciprocating mass (inertia). Removing balance shafts might increase vibrations you 'feel' from the engine, but more importantly, it puts increased torsional vibration on the crankshaft, reducing the life of the engine. If you want to maintain the Honda reliability, reducing reciprocating mass, strengthening the bottom end or at least a better harmonic damper would be the way to go.
As cool as cars are - I would ultimately choose free health care over rust free cars. Although, you guys could move over here to Australia and have it all :P
Honda engine with a BMW transmission connected with adapters made by mazda guys, all thrown into a Nissan. there is so much you can do other than just LS swap everything.
ls swap would be better
Maybe power-wise, but it'd be 100 times more boring
Making 300 whp with a k swap u still have the same power as a stock ls with half the engine weight
a ls swap is alot less work.
Datsun son only in the usa, its way cheaper to do a honda swap than a ls swap anywhere else. Youre looking at 10 grand for the engine alone here in europe for an ls. hondas go for a couple 100 euros.

just what i needed for my e30 project! :)
No shit, this is awesome info. If it's something I don't have to research (because I remember this comment, which is unlikely, tbh) then it would help for my Boxster PROject (that's the Canadian pronunciation, BTW)
Perfect time to engineer and start selling parts for yet another swap for the s-chassis
I like the fact that the cars original 2.4L displacement is retained.
Anth C 200sx s14 came with a 2 litre engine
lancesamals not in the states they had the KA24DE motor nissan pickup motor
Drift Buddy so s14's in North America came with ka24de non turbo? I feel sorry for you guys
In the 89 and 90 model they didn't even get the dual cam just a ka24e lmao, the DEs are okay haha at least they came from Japan
RCXDerp they missed out on alot of fun
when you put the oil pan on just make sure you dont shove silicone into the pickup!
Nic D haha. Savage
Yea the k swapped ek civic had enough super high temp silicone for 10 oil pans
You could convert it to a dry sump setup with an external pump: all the oil pan clearance in the world.
You guys make me appreciate California even more.
I heard s2000 so many times it just makes me wanna say just swap the k series into an actual s2k instead lol
Zadiel Vazquez there's one on UA-cam, it makes more torque earlier in the rev range. Looks like a pretty solid choice
Great video, keep it up! Subframe mods are a little backwards for most drifters. Typically the rack is moved forward to avoid overcentering issues. Something to consider.

For the bmw trans, go with a floor mount shifter. All those bushings & clips are useless in a racecar. For the k24, she needs ITB’s.
yeah, this is a difficult swap. but good on you guys for daring to do a completely different swap than normal
240sx / K24 / ZF trans
It's not a 2JZ, it's a 2KZ !!
Liking this build series. It's pretty refreshing.
This build is going to be awesome and unique. Loving it!
replace the timing chain also to be safe! I'm sure you plan on it but they have a tendency to stretch cause people don't change their oil enough!
Very cool, would love to see more of this project.
I’m excited about this Build. Something I can afford on a tight budget
I've been following you guys for a long time, and all because of the s14!! I watch all your vids but I'm a kouki s14 owner as well. Also a fellow Canadian!!(sask boy) With all the sr issues to haha. I just picked up a vq35hr, and a 6speed for my s14. I've been thinking of doing the mr2 power steering as well, so can't wait to see how that turns out
Absolutely love it. Keep it up! It’s going to turn out so great in the end
You clowns are doing a great job I love it. Keep up the hard work. Great entertainment. I don't know what I'm doing ether, I don't let that stop me. Never met a canak I didn't like.
First video of your guys Channel that I've seen and I like it so I subscribed
Can’t wait to see that k series mounted up keep up the good work god bless
You made taking off that honda crank bolt look easy!
Why aren’t you guys using a CDO9? It fits easier in an s14 than a bmw Tran does
Looking good, gentlemen!
I believe in the process🏆
cant wait for the next video!! great job guys!
Great works guys! Loving this k swap
I'd take free healthcare since we have the same rust issues in Wisconsin! lol
Finally something different
I love the build
Coming along quickly Peter! I'm surprised that fat boy ZF fits in the tunnel.
Wish I could work this fast on my 1UZFE 280Z project, a damn thing called funds are slowing me down. Haha.
I’ve been wanting to do this swap for drifting!!
I love this series!
I know you guys sit on content for a while so it’s probably already done, but Adam LZ’s friend Jimmy Oakes has a ton of videos of S-chassis mods including the sub frame modification. Cool channel I suggest checking out
cody lachance who do you think they are
jack Clark they’re pretty social you tubers, both Chris from b is for build and Alan from ambush drift shouted them out after reaching out to them on 86 advice
Did you think about a dry sump setup? Might help with the problem
Just FYI - If you're planning on using that actual transmission in the video, it's probably the worst one you could have got. Getrag 220 won't hold much at all. Ideally you'd want to run the ZF310z/ZF320z from an E36 328i or US M3 (early Euro M3 5sp).
Tekk uh... That is a ZF. That's not a getrag 220, and if it was a getrag box it would be a 250.
Nick Ray 6:35, clearly a 220.
I think putting a k engine in a s14 is wrong but I am excited to see what it will be like when it's finished
finally a way to make a 240 reliable
I want to see your guys take on Ohlins Road and Track - Dual Flow Valve suspension kits. I'm either picking up an E46 M3 or a BRZ to supercharge, 100% going with Ohlins either way.
cool stuff guys! love the K series
throw the rusty parts in some evaporust rust remover that stuff works great
ks14 , interesting swap. i like unique swaps
straight fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥

very cool swap k24 rear wheel drive
i love it
gordie french ua-cam.com/video/yLD2PA-HceE/v-deo.html
Awesome swap! It's too bad Honda never made RWD K series car, it would have made sourcing parts easier.
Andrew450r ua-cam.com/video/yLD2PA-HceE/v-deo.html
This and the beams need a good soda blast and a coat or vht silver , make them look all purty
If you dont mind what are some pros and cons of the bmw transmission over somthinf like the cdo9/cdoo9???
Couldn't you relocate the rack which would help with handling and clearance? Or is it already modified I can't tell.
why not a custom oil pan and sump? with wider front and flaps for side g-force control of oil?
I kno someone prob asked this, oe mentioned. But Were can i find the adapters/flywh3el kits for K series swaps?..for rwd trans/ bellhousings? An wat trans swaps are out there? I'm lookin to bolt a K to a AX14/R154? Aisin/Toyota trans... Possible to tremec or nv3500..
So honda engine with a bmw transmission amazing i never see that before. I m wondering. How many mileage have the k24 because the rust in the oil pan
This is going to be awesome
So fucking excited to see this process!

I'm waiting for your guys to finish so I can start lol
I really dig it. What's the weight with trans installed?
Why not just use a 1 inch space between the sub frame and body. It'll lower it just enough to clear oil pan
Will the parts for the kwap kit be available id love to kwap a s13
Why you don’t visit global JDM auto parts at 2 Blair Drive Brampton for k24A , might be over 20 deferent K24A in stock
K24 + KRAFTWORKS supercharger!
beast
I agree 10000000000% with this statement!!!!
Dear god yes!!!
What part of Canada are you guys in? Ktuned for the win
" now the cars going to shake "......lol ! :) hi from Australia :)
What an awesome channel 😊
Why did he mention the chain tensioner replacement ?.... I've heard two UA-cam's mention this, is the tensioner a weak point in the engine ?.... I have a 04 Accord with 250,000 miles, I'm worried ....
"but now the car is gonna shake" I died!! LMAO
Drysump setup?!
Heck yeah i subscribed
I liked that comment, "do I smell K Tuned?"
What did you do to fit the starter?
i was going to say do the subframe mods to get the rack more foward, you says it at the same time lol
use a Dry sump oil system .is expensive . but is cool
I'd get a tubular front k member for the 240
Is the transmission supposed to be open at the bottom like that???
🔥🔥🔥
What brand and model is that engine leveler?
Glad it fits -ish
Nice job
Awesome!
yes... more!!!!
Where did you buy your engine?
Exocet miata in the background?
How would the k24 run less the balance shaft shafts? This is a 24 only part right? I don’t remember either of my k20s having that.
Christopher Smith yeah its only found in the k24. The swap to a k20 type s oil pump is easy though. The only thing is that an oil drain plug needs to be blocked off when making the switch on a k24 because if you don't it'll have low oil pressure.

My k20z3 has balance shafts
Love it
As cool as cars are - I would ultimately choose free health care over rust free cars.
Although, you guys could move over here to Australia and have it all :P
Matt Fielke except are vehicles modification laws are pretty strict.
These guys build track cars, so no issue there.
Matt Fielke well who do you think pays for the free health care?
Haha touche - the tax payer. It's a worthwhile system though.
K20 head swap please!
More videos longer videos !!!
Sick
9:08 rip salt city euros...
pretty car pretty motor
anyone know the intro song track?
